Ha! I was just about to post this same topic, and I disagree.

-Callisto, never a full X-Man, just an honorary/ally, and those tentacle arms lasted what, 3-4 appearances?
-Beast and Cypher? Beast needs no defending, one of the best Mavel characters in general. Cypher written correctly is fascinating, his power was best shown in the Necrosha crossover.
-Skin... maybe, he had potential but I feel like it was wasted.
The rest I can pretty much agree on, and the number one was no contest, although he wasn't an X-Man until Utopia, at which point all unused mutants became X-Men for some reason.

My 10 (special spot for Maggot) worst X-People (and I'll use just characters from the X-teams) in no particular order

Ink
Bling!
Rusty Collins aka Firefist
Bedlam
Skids
Mondo
Random
Omerta
Lifeguard
Stacy X

Wow, that's 10 and I didn't even get to putting Maggot and Joseph. Ah well.

Completely disagree with original Beast.

Well, Newsarama's lists have never seemed to be well thought out or researched. Beast, Cipher and Shatterstar all became better with time and the right writers. Though Shatterstar has the Liefield stigma, Peter David has made him into something interesting.

I only get to pick 10??

i was gonna say all ten currently in xmen

My list for worst 10 X-men
10 Wolverine
9 Wolverine
8 wolverine
7 Wolverine
6 Wolverine
5 Wolverine
4 Wolverine
3 Wolverine
2 Wolverine
1 Wolverine

Now why I don't like my number 1 is not because he is popular or anything like that I hated him when I first saw him plain and simple. And since we don't get much comics in my neighbourhood and there was no internet at those times I never knew he was one of most popular guys and was quiet shocked when I heard it. Than I realise humanity's attraction to crap characters and products in general now nothing shocks me anymore.

Wasn't there a member of one of those innumerable '90's X-Teams whose sole power was to turn his body into a gas ... once? I think he was killed off when his containment suit ripped out and he dissipated. I suggest that guy replace Beast on their list. (Beast, seriously? I'm not sure I can even agree with their reasoning that he had the "worst" power of the five original X-Men.)

Yeah, his name was Dummy. A Grant Morrison creation I think made solely to kill off. I didn't count him or any of the Milligan created mutants when he was writing X-Force and X-Statix, otherwise I would have included El Guapo, who had a living skateboard that flew and beat him like a jealous husband. It seems there came a point when any ridiculous power would end up on a mutant and slapped into and X-book.

Of course the weirdness is what made X-Statix or Morrison's run on X-Men memorable.

See Wolverine's popularity is due to his attitude and powers. (He does what people want to do but don't actually do) while people hate Cyclops (He does what has to be done which doesn't jive with Wolverine.)

I personally liked Cyclops all the way up to Uncanny X-Men #176, after that Claremont lost control of the character and Cyke has never been as good since.

There was a time when most super-heroes were goody two shoes.
Turns out a lot of people love the "bad" good guy/antihero type.

I didn't like Cyclops until Morrison got hold of him. He made him a bit more multifaceted without actually turning him into the bad boy. Then he stagnated again until House of M and Deadly Genesis. Ever since then I think he's been one of the most intriguing characters at Marvel, able to manipulate public opinion, utilizing brilliant tactics against foes, especially Norman Osborn during Dark Reign, showing the kind of teeth Xavier never had without resorting to Magneto's rule the flatscans ideas, and showing a knowledge of all his X-Men and how to best use their gifts that no team leader had before with the exception of maybe Captain America.

Unfortunately it seems without Fraction writing him he's lost some of his oomph, and this whole Phoenix Five thing in the AvX crossover seems to be leading to his becoming some sort of villain, although not the mustache twirling kind. There's a lot of talent in the crossover, so it may go another way, but we'll see.

I agree with them all, except for Beast. I did enjoy Shatterstar, but that was in the 90's.

So I'm probably gonna get tar-and-feathered for this.. But.. Why does Beast look so different? Did Marvel decide to retcon his appearance to make him blue and hairy?

In trying to cure his mutation he exaggerated it.

When Wolverine was the mysterious little psychopath that was one thing. Occasional snippets of his past added to his flavor. He really went down hill when they gave him the adamantium back.

(Best Wolvie scene ever... taking out Harry Leland in Byrne's Hellfire Club story)

Well Wolverine always seem to be more of An Anti Hero and I never saw him as a real Hero. Spider Man, Super Man and Bat Man, are indeed good Heroes, they show it a lot of the times, but Wolverine does not.

Wolverine will kill if he have too, it been done once before, not always Heroic at times also.

Also people who like Wolverine as an Hero, aren't true Super Hero Fans to begin with, a true fan looks up to the Heroic Aspect, the Hero who does things by the book and with in the Law.

If you look up the definition of the word heroic, you can easily attribute many of Wolverine's accomplishments and actions to the concept.

Tough decisions have to be made sometimes and not everyone can be a Superman (which Im glad).
