I was thinking the same thing. I'm no programmer but it seems it wouldn't be too hard to update it from our files, maybe even to allow it to access everything including gm only pieces
  2. Something makes a Thhhhhh-POING! sound and flies through one door of the room and out the back door, Jet right behind the blur. Sounds of a tussle come from outside, then Jet wanders back in holding something with chrome bits and a coruscating glowey center tightly under one arm.

"Um... I think the neighbors might be calling sometime today. Oooo... pizza!"

Jet snags a couple of pieces and heads back out to the workshop.
  3. The Wheel's intimidating at first, as are the Decks, but a helpful tip I'll pass on is to not be slavish to the Decks. They help immensely if you going for one thing or another (and completing one unlocks cool garb) but they really don't perform as advertised until you have all the pieces. Use them as a guide and worry about completing them as secondary.

Also, before you chose a new power, spend a few minutes in a safe zone figure out what works well with what. Synergy between powers is much more powerful in TSW than in CoH and that minor power you ship, might just be the one power that would make all the others shine.
  4. I hear they are even planning a n add-on called "Ghost-Town of Villians"
  5. Leaked Blurb:

After the horrific and public pantsing of Peter Parker by the Punisher in Amazing Spider-Man #700, Willy Lumpkin has seen enough - and utilizing the Wayne/Kent Youthening Serum - steps into the freshly washed tights to become... THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN!

    Arrow...

The Hood (I can't really call him Green Arrow at this point): Way too dark and nasty, I get the whole revenge plot, but it's just not Green Arrow.

How I'd fix: Make him accidentally kill an innocent, have a heartrending scene of anguish, then have him decide to reinvent his hero persona into more of the Green Arrow we were expecting. I might even have the "new" Green Arrow bring "The Hood" to justice with some hero trickery.

Also Less Thwip, more Quip. Leave the growing monotone to Bale.

Villains: China White and Deadshot seemed to be both toss-away characters, and there's no direction except "the list".

How I'd Fix: Stick closer to the comic incarnations for villains and let them stay around/return. Also I'd (quickly) have OQ discover an underlying connect... a mastermind, if you will. Let's give Ollie something more than just a list as a driving force.

Emotional Turmoil/Family Strife/Love/Etc: I know its the CW, it's to be expected

How I'd Fix: Actually, that said, I think it's being handled fairly well. But let's keep one thing firmly in mind, The show's about Green Arrow, not his sister, or his buddy, or his girl friend, or his mom... I'd just make sure that the Heroics stay forefront of everything else.

I want to like this, but there's got to be some changes soon or I'm ditching it.

    Oh... and ditch the Arrow-cave

Very soloable, Dungeons require teams, but most of the investigation style missions I've solo'd so far have been challenging without being frustrating. Every now and again I ran across one that I needed a hand with, and most people in the Illuminati (yes, Illuminati. Shut up or we'll change you mind for you) channel were more than happy to lend a hand.

Most of the "decks" (read as: character templates) seem to be built with both team- and solo-play in mind. But even those are optional. You can pretty much build any style character you like without worrying about things like "if I concentrate on controls, will I need someone else for dps." Will things kick your butt... sure will, but it's equal opportunity butt-kicking.

All in all, I'm enjoying playing TSW. It'll never replace CoH for me, but I think that was a one-of-a-kind instance. If you like global conspiracies and survival horror stuff, definitely give TSW a try. I'm Just-Jack over on Leviathan.

Jumping the Shark is that moment when you realize the writers are so out of ideas they they'll just throw anything at the screen in hopes of keeping viewer attention (like, for instance, having their motorcycle-riding leather-jacket-wearing cool guy - who really shouldn't be along on another family's vacation in the first place - try to waterski over a shark). The show may limp on after that for a while (even a few more seasons), but it's essentially over.

What happened to CoH was entirely different. It didn't run out of creative juice (the writers had stories planned for years to come), it wasn't losing player attention (the players were excited about the imminent I24 update), it was killed by outside forces.
    So... issue 18? *ducks* 8D
  9. I wouldn't remotely consider a lifetime subscription unless:

    a) It insures that I will NEVER pay for anything again. No credits, no paragon points, no special VIP pricing. If it comes out, I get it... for free.

    b) "Lifetime" is defined in the eula as a minimum time, say no shorter than 24 months of supported operation. If the game ends before that minimum lifetime is reached, I get a pro-rated refund.

    c) it would cost me no more than $360-ish (24x14.95)

    Dear NCsoft

Well... I don;t like how they went about this, but they did give us 8 good years.

Hmmm... *lightbulb* ... I got it!

*Puts a lovely jello mold of a horse's head in thier beds*
  11. I'm looking forward to it. Thank gods they chose to stay with the turn-based tactical war-game model.
    • the abandonment of redside
    • 0/0 not meaning 0/0
    • uncorrected drop bug (my record is 28 missions without a single end insp)
    • the practice of creating new shinys over the updating/refreshing of older content.
  12. Personally, I'm with the "grown-up" contingent on this. I won't buy any more NCSoft products.
  13. I was hoping the inspire others to post their wishlists here as well. Good to know though... I've always thought my needs should be considered first

This kinda assumes some shadowy, mustachio-twirler in a boardroom somewhere cackling at the outpouring of emotion, and secretly hoping that everyone will quit. There was no malicious intent in the decision. They're not "expecting" anything to happen or not happen. They did what they planned to do. CoX is an income source and after review, it was discontinued. The only people that know the full reasons about it are in a boardroom somewhere, and they're neither inclined or required to inform us of a reason/reasons behind the decision.

We're a very emotive community, but for the corporate world that has little to no bearing. Sure there are flukes (Firefly/Serenity for example) where public outcry led to something more, but in most situations it's just like closing a Pizza Hut. It might be a cornerstone of a gathering place for 30 years in a town, but to Yum!, it's just a marginally performing store who's franchise assets can be used somewhere else.

Best thing is to go play, have fun, and post your support in hopes that will inspire some independent company to make an offer to pick up the IP. The real challange is if and when someone does show interest, then we as a community have to put our money (literally) where are mouth is.
  15. What's I'd like to see in the coming months:

    1) The Character Creator unlocked for general gaming use, with all the admin only settings and parts available as well, and hopefully with a print function.

    2) City of Heroes, The Home Edition: OK, unlock it so we can create our own server for solo and IP-direct play. Sure maybe not as large scale use as MMO-Scale, but still, it would be fun to throw together impromptu gaming. (worked fine with MW4, and many many others)

    3) Publish the CoH Compendium, with all the NPC's Factions, Gear and most importantly story arcs and lines including "what had yet to come..." at least as far as the Devs had plotted. Invite artists and fiction writers to create for the project.

Notice, I'm not asking NCSoft to do these things, although it would be lovely if they did. But I'm amiable to any creative, tech savey individuals to step up. MekTek did wonders for sustaining MW4 for years after Microsoft blew it off (eventually inheriting the code and the rights to distribute the game for free). We have the same caliber of dedicated community members here, I'm sure.

  17. The Secret World, although I might give CO a try.
  18. ... for off-line use.

Seriously, it's a great tool for tabletop gamers (heck I would have bought it alone had it been offered). It should be a simple bit of code to allow for that. Feel free to wait until Nov 30th, then unlock everything PC, NPC... whatever, and let us use it off-line

It's the least you can do.
  19. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say that they'll leave any automated systems in place (such as downgrades when no payment is received) after all, why expend any effort to consider the customers at this point? Not like they're taking our money anymore.

I would say that any VIP with auto-billing or a renewal before Nov 30, make accommodation to be downgraded to a freemium player at some point in the next few months. (ie do you screens and consolidations now)

Of course, I'd be happy to have a red name tell be my assumption is incorrect.

(Heck, it'd be nice if someone said "the heck with it" and unlocked everything for everyone, but I don't see that happening either)
  20. I may give ninja/time a try...
  21. That's a common Orb Weaver. They're really beautiful in the spring and summer. I get them all over the yard and garden
  22. It's Teletubies... huge freaking armies of Teletubbies, led by a GM-sized Barney.
