If NCsoft refuses to comply, and the game shuts down, What is our revenge scheme?

HAHA. That's the first belly laugh I've had on these forums since August 31st.

Thank you!

I think the first order of business is to make the internet safer and banning you from it.

When trying to talk someone into doing things to benefit you, it's best if you keep talk of revenge quiet.

It's also best to not tell someone that has your credit card information / paypal account that you're planning on committing illegal actions. Against them. In a publicly viewable forum. That they control.

If it comes to that, I'll be satisfied with NCSoft retreating entirely from the western market because they can no longer do business here at all because not enough gamers will trust them.

Success is the best form of revenge. Seeking to harm NCSoft would, in the end, corrupt us just as much as their corporate greed does them.

We'll do something that fills fans of City of Heroes with joy, something that leaves NCSoft behind to become a small, dim, unimportant memory.

As if a handful of individuals could exact revenge on a multi-billion dollar corporation headquartered in Asia, with most of its revenue coming from Asia.

Let's try to be positive. Both because ideas like taking revenge on NCSoft are pointless, and because they don't help anything. I'm pretty sure if the NCSoft execs are even considering an action that will keep the game opening, this type of nonsense isn't helping.

And to think you have the hacking knowledge to do such a thing because your brother taught you is laughable.

Yes. That would do nicely.

Something like maybe someone start a new, independent company from scratch and a new superhero MMO? Yes. A pipe dream for now. But there are so many of us, and surely some percentage of us have the business skills (or are in the process of developing them in college and elsewhere) to do such a thing in the future?

If in 10 years, there is a new, shinier City of Heroes, based on the lore from this game and IP and at that time NCSoft is nothing but a bad memory?

I'll take that as a win.

How about you just grow up instead?

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

I thought we were heroes? This is a really sad way to think. We lose a game, and then people want the company responsible for it to be harmed so OTHER people can lose their game?

Did you think about OTHER people's homes? No. As long as it's not CoX, your game, it doesn't matter to you, does it?

Know what? I'm sick of that notion here. I now have another reason for wanting the game to stay: so people can shut up about the ****s they will no longer give toward NCSoft. I'm not a fan of them either, but this is ridiculous.

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

People are making lots of assumptions. Just because the OP mentions computer science doesn't mean he's talking about computer hacking...

You wanna know the best way to get revenge?

Step 1: Invest money in NCsoft to buy up stock. That's right, INVEST MONEY IN THEM.
Step 2: Get like minded people to do the same
Step 3: do this until your conspiracy circle are majority share owners
Step 4: proceed to strongarm NCsoft into a better company with better management means for Western Market and see how the Asian market can improve
Step 5: You and your compadres become successful MMO business tycoons because you also own mother @#$%ing Guild Wars 2 and may have a better head for business on an International scale than NCsoft's present groups.
Step 6: Try to campaign City of Heroes in Asia one more time.

Edit: it's far fetched, but in theory, this would could end up the best case scenario for all sides involved. NCSoft is under better direction for it's international market and able to better expand business, city of heroes is brought back, and the schemers involved are now successful business people!

"You get four women in high heeled power suits to put the fear of god into a mega corporation"

Honestly?

You realize, than being vindictive over poor management from a company is probably childish.

Then, you realize, being a hero doesn't have to be limited to a video game.

Go out and make a difference.

The group of players who successfully resurrected EA's Earth and Beyond are already making preparations to form their own legitimate studio and pump out something grand; working for nearly a decade to put EnB back together showed that they could do the impossible--what next?

Those guys and gals didn't have HALF the fanbase and fan resources that we have here. What are we capable of? Can't wait to find out. So one thing's for sure. If our efforts to win over NCSoft's charity fail, we need to take all of that anger, and all of that passion, and all of that love for our game and community, and use it to BUILD something from the ashes.

THAT is what I would most like to stick it to NCSoft with.

THAT is how I'd like to see revenge.

Our unmitigated, unstoppable, unbreakable spirit.

Also Villains and Vigilantes. Yes it's a sad way to think, but it's also expected for some to. It's practically inevitable.

I will say that if anyone does pull off something against NCsoft, I don't expect them to announce it in a way that's easily IP traceable. I think the perpetrator/perpetrators of the PSN hack is/are still unknown?

1.) Shake my fist at my monitor for a second.

2.) Go play Champions and have fun.

3.) Make sure I take screens and videos of all my most awesome COH stuff before the game ends.

4.) Never play an NCSoft game again. Not because I think it will matter, or to join a rogue group of 16 year olds in their internet movement. But just because they personally pissed me off, so I personally won't give them my business anymore.

5.) Champions has Batplanes. Dude... Batplanes. Cheer up.

THAT made me laugh.

Thanks.

Hey, at least you're being honest. As a consumer, that's a fine, principled stance you're taking. No great scheme or movement, just... "You personally pissed me off--I'll take my business elsewhere." Businesses in my country (the United States) used to thrive or fall based on their customers principles and loyalty. If we were still living in a world like that, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Honestly I think I'm just as annoyed at people trying to make this into some elaborate "OccupyWallstreet" sort of thing where they're like, trying to take money or business away from NCSoft, like they matter.

I mean just chill. NCSoft obviously doesn't need your business or they wouldn't be cancelling your game. Just have fun with it while it lasts and try to find what you liked about COH elsewhere.

Pretty much this. Rather be playing the game then AFKing in AP.

Revenge scheme...

hm...

nope, not even considering this. Sure, I'll stop giving them my money but not for any anger based reason, you understand, but becuse they only ever had one property that I was willing to give them money for.

Revenge? There's nothing I could do that would help. However, I might continue to be highly critical of NCSoft and, when asked my personal opinion, I might be less than charitable when speaking about them in a public forum...

...like the internet...

...for years...

...and years...

We're not dead yet. Let's not go starting any blood feuds now.
