Quote:Creativity in general has a liberal bias. For what it's worth nothing's stopping anyone from trying to make a center-right TV show similar to the Daily Show that caters to the "youth vote" with funny material that ultimately paints Obama as "evil". If people like you don't like the Daily Show you should stop complaining about it and support an effort to make something you think is better. For instance I'd honestly think it'd be funny to see a clever "liberal" version of Stephen Colbert. *shrugs*

Quote:Arcanaville, why are you right so often? They shouldn't be forced to legally, but the presumption is that consumers have the ability to reward and punish desirable and undesirable behavior. So people saying its childish to "bad-mouth" NCsoft or boycott their products are denigrating the only feedback paths consumers have in this situation to exercise the rights the free market presumes them to have.
Many people believe consumers are only supposed to have positive reinforcement rights: they can buy a company's products, or they can choose not to, but that's all they are entitled to do. Those people are wrong. -
Quote:It's not disagreement that people have a problem with. It's telling everyone that their actions are futile and ineffective without having any ideas of your own. Basically trying your best to discourage everyone from doing anything at all.Yet when you disagree with the tactics, "TROLLL!!!" Yet in a lot more words.
I haven't seen any constructive disagreement shouted down at all. -

Quote:If talks have failed, it's because NCSoft wasn't negotiating in good faith to begin with.If talks are over, then I'd like to know what caused them to fail ...
Which, in my mind, thinks it's knives time.
If NCsoft can be made to fail somehow, the IP could be recovered from its smoking wreckage. I don't know how this could be done atm, but it's what my vigilante side wants. -
Quote:Pretty sure the Ferengi are more honorable than NCsoft.PS: went a lil trekkie on you there in the middle, but it applies I'm honestly starting to see NC Soft in my head as the Ferengi from Star Trek...
Anyway, I'm thinking it's about time to sharpen up some knives. -
No experience with MMOs directly, but they do have a lot of server running experience. And I believe they run servers for DOTA 2 now? They haven't done a full release yet, but it's there and it's theirs.

So anyway, someone on the titan forum got the idea to do a Base building contest and make some videos as a way to showcase some of the creativity in the game.
And well, I just had the thought that some people might have the capability to make some really impressive bases, but don't have the prestige for it. I'm planning to meetup with one person who posted in the thread saying they've been making a nice base but don't have the prestige to finish yet, anyone else willing to pledge some billions for base building?
And think of showing off your base if you have a nice one. -
Nah, I'm a Vigilante. But I have a priority list, and saving CoH is at the top of that. Destroy NCSoft only registers on the list because if they decide to sit on the IP, that'd probably be the only way to release it. But it's not an appropriate time for any efforts related to that now, because that could harm priority number 1. And if they are in the process of selling the game off, it's completely unnecessary. I'm stubborn enough I can wait a few months to make sure.

Quote:#1: Without a shadow of death hanging over the game, things would be a lot betterThe thing is, the game is already dying. Even if saved, no amount of marketing is going to restore the population to what it once was. It will always be a shadow of its former glory and never recover.
#2: The game being saved would be good publicity for it. -
So, something to note:
Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 just came out recently. I'm playing a lot of Borderlands 2 myself. Big titles releasing would have an impact on ingame population no matter what. -

Mercedes Lackey has been in touch with Brian Clayton who runs/ran Paragon Studios. -
Dunno, but there was a post on the Titan forum saying Cryptic is willing to transfer the license.
And remember, even though the Cryptic team moved on (leaving Paragon to run CoH), it was still their first game. They definitely don't hate the game or the community. -
One benefit of the titan forums: Nowhere near as negative as the COH forums have gotten.
-
So, the end scenario of Elite Beat Agents has been coming to mind for me:

Upset? Yes. Going to lie on my back? No. There's still stuff to do to show support for the game, to make ammunition for the negotiators.
Like TF running. The first Positron's Ally event is tonight! Run the first TF, be Positron's ally!
Also consider sending NCsoft an e-mail urging them to sell the game if you haven't yet. They set up an e-mail just for us at COHSunset@ncsoft.com
Is it a black hole? I don't know! I sent one anyway.
Tell anyone who doesn't know about these. And the Titan Forum is also a good source of organization/stuff to do. -
Yes, we're definitely not dead yet. And we're still needed for support. To make noise.
Run a TF today! The first Positron's Ally event is tonight! Run the first TF, be Positron's ally!

Quote:Yes, and those negotiations need us to keep making noise for ammunition. Remember to keep involved in save the game events. That leadership is apparently in place. However, they almost certainly cannot publicly share details of what is being negotiated. So far, they have only let out that negotiations are still ongoing.
I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that such leadership is "all" it will take. A lot of other things have to fall into place - the best leader in the world might not be able to get NCSoft to play ball. But the leadership is in place, and "someone else" is indeed working on saving the game.
Nothing at all might come of it, but people are trying.

Go back to on/off forum posting, and do whatever I feel like in game, instead of spending a lot of forum time cheerleading. Speaking of which.
Reminder! The game is not saved yet! The first Positron's Ally event is tonight!

I dunno, have you run the arc? Statesman's death was sad, and probably the best use of him in a long time. It helps put into perspective just how long he's been a hero.
-
This event is tonight! For anyone forum surfing that doesn't somehow know already.

Quote:Remember that large rally? The one that filled up Virtue with over 3000 players and then overflowed to some unknown amount to other servers? And a large amount of people in queue for the server? Now this whole thread is about whether or not a rogue group making up about 20% of the active forum population which makes up about 10% of the in game population
The post for it has only 119 posts total, and unique posters in the thread is some amount less than that. The view count is 6000, but the view count goes up for a thread each time a person looks at it. It's not unique views.
So no, it's not just a small % of the active forum population participating. It's a multiple of the forum population. I know I got someone who's never touched the forums to attempt to show up (she got server queued).
Surprise, people from the forums talk to people not on the forums. And a lot of people do stuff without ever posting about it. I only post in those threads to increase visibility.
Speaking of which. the Positron's Ally event is still tomorrow/today (thursday). Show up! Get other people to show up! Show up again on Saturday!
Are you Positron's ally? Show it! -
-
Well, I signed up for titan network a day or two ago. I used my P51mus name.
-
They haven't said anything publicly. That could either mean they're not interested, or they're making a bid right now.
With business deals you never know.
Anyway, remember to still run Positron's TF on thursday and Saturday.
It is not over yet! Keep up the pressure! Keep Spirits up! We are all Positron's Ally!
