How many MA story arcs were ruined by I23 removing Statesman and Sister Psyche?

Okay, so, Paragon Studios decided to remove Statesman and Sister Psyche from the game for whatever reasons.

But, didjareallyhaveto remove them from Mission Architect? Doing so messed up all published story arcs that used Statesman and Sister Psyche as NPCs.

Just because Paragon Studios chose to wipe those characters out of existence, now your customers must retcon their previously published MA story arcs? Thanks!

Statesman and Sister Psyche are still available in Ouroboros flashback missions. Seems they could have been left intact in MA if only to keep from messing up customer-created story arcs.

Pfff. Don't be crazy. Statesman has always been a mekman.

that is pretty silly though. MA is basically fan fiction and in game justified as virtual reality. There's no reason to remove them from there. Nothing says an arc couldn't be written before their deaths, or in an alternate timeline where they didn't die, etc.

Edit: I just checked, and it still shows Sister P and States in the Phalanx and usable.

"Sister Psyche" is in my arc "Why We Fight", but it's a copy made in the character editor with reduced powers. Arc's unplayable anyway thanks to the filter stupidity.

They're both still available in the MA - if they're not showing up in an arc for some reason, it's possible that they've been shuffled around the NPC list, and now have a different code number.
For example, rather than recoding every bit of content Sister Psyche appeared in to replace her ID with the new Penny Yin ID, they could have simply given Penny Yin Sister Psyche's old ID, and given Sister Psyche a new ID.

I checked it out too and, though he's still available in the missions, I didn't see Statesman on the contact list (the screenshot looks like it's trying to use him as an AE contact). Sister Psyche's still there, but now Statesman's missing and there are two almost identical versions of Ms. Liberty. I'd bet it's a glitch caused by replacing Statesman on the task force: they probably switched Statesman's contact ID with a copy of Ms. Liberty, and it affected the contact roster in MA too.

As far as I know, the Mekman model is at the top of the ID list, so when the game can't find a model ID, it uses the Mekman as the default replacement.

Oh, wow, as if AE wasn't broke enough as it was >_<

I play arcs there that I see advertised on the forums, as well as just picking random ones.

My long-broken Mission Architect story arc "For the People" (Arc ID 530574) is now fixed--hooray!

I found that, while Statesman was removed from the Standard option in the Contact Type field, he is still available in the Enemy Groups option.

Despite what Posi said in Loregasm, Statesman is back!

(As a contact in Mission Architect, at least.)

Looks like I'll have to go and give my Training Day arc a look to make sure it's not glitching too badly. Once the servers are back up, at least.

Perhaps a better question would be how much of the actual game was ruined by removing Statesman and Sister Psyche?

It certainly changed things for me.

I found the removal of both to be unwanted, unnecessary and transparently vindictive.

I dunno, have you run the arc? Statesman's death was sad, and probably the best use of him in a long time. It helps put into perspective just how long he's been a hero.

I ran it once only.

To be honest I wasn't impressed by it.

It seemed to me to be a vehicle just to get rid of Statesman.

The best use of Statesman in a long time was killing him off?

Honestly, it was only sad in the fact that the devs threw him away like a chump. He didn't fight anything. He just gave up. He walked into the world's most obvious trap, lured into a smoldering crater in an exotic location by a man with no ability to actually fight Statesman. He didn't even show up at all previously in the arc, so there's no chance to actually establish any sort of emotional connection.

It'd be like if the Death of Superman didn't have Superman in it at all except for the last page. And instead of Doomsday killing him, it's Toyman.

That was also pretty much the only use of Statesman in a long time. Unless you count his evil alternate reality versions (which I don't, although both you can fight had much more character development than States...). Statesman has barely ever been in the game, only very rarely ever actually having any involvement in the game. Superman actually appeared in his comics.

His daughter had just been murdered by aforementioned powerless guy in cold blood. As for the giving up part? He already had his powers stripped, and one thing you learn in the Villain version (not sure if the hero version goes into this), the entire reason Wade killed him was to absorb his (Zeus's) incredible will power.

Of course, this discussion has already been had a hundred times since SSA first appeared, and no one's budged on their position one bit, and likely no one ever will.
