My patience with the game is running out.

So far I've met two "undesirables", one who propositioned me for sex (promptly reported to a GM. First time in *any* game that has happened), and the other who was basically calling all of us noobs during my first, failed, attempt at a Polaris run.

There seems to be a dire lack of EU based players, as it seems so bloody quiet when I'm usually on.

Overall, once my current sub runs out (thats the other thing - how on Earth do you actually cancel recurrent billing? I couldn't find anything on the account page), I'm honestly unsure whether I'll stay. Shame really, as I feel the game has potential.
    +1

I'm reluctant to resub for another month due to the lack of teaming opportunities as well.

Great looking game but it feels like a single player game to me right now.

    1. Blaster. I loved the glass cannon approach to being a Blaster. Hlaf the fun was trying to stay alive whilst dishing out a huge amount of DPS

    2. Following on from that Fire/Fire (Blaster) was just so much fun. Firestreak was my 3rd level 50 character and remains to this day my 'main'.

    3. Tanker. I discovered the joys of tanking years after I started playing.

I put a realistic spin on it. You gave a rose tinted glasses type glow to it.

At least my version of the ending will always have the potential for a return of the heroes to save the Earth from the Rikti - for all time basically.

It's very easy to roll out the 'Debby Downer' crap in our current predicament, but I simply see it as a sign of limited imagination and ignorance these days.

Feel free to use it again as you see fit.

Debby Downer? If my post is getting you down, then December 1st is going to be a really bad day for you.............

    I'm simply being realistic.

The Rikti winning would be a fitting way for the game to end.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on this game, but it's time to move on.

NCsoft have already put their respective cards on the table.

They are not going to change their minds.

Actually I think he runs about in a random pattern, but has a very large perception range.

    Farewell :)

That was put very well BM.

Your love for this game is evident in your post, and I'm glad you've enjoyed the run - as I have.

I've made preparations to move on to a new MMO (The Secret World) but this was my first MMO and it will always have a place in my heart.

I'll join you and raise a glass (of beer) in honour of the game :thu:

Don't let the solo instances dissuade you from teaming - you stay in the team it is just that each member has to do the instance alone. You can still chat and help each other with hints. It is not as fun as being able to work together to shoot some zombie in the face but... it isn't too bad.
It seems that the devs at TSW are saying that the inclusion of solo only instances was a mistake.

Having just finished the Illuminati library solo mission (with multiple deaths courtesy of the Archivist) I can agree with this
  14. I've just reached The Savage Coast.

    It's awesome ......

I'm really enjoying the game at the moment, although I'm still pretty much soloing everything right now.

Hopefully once I get myself toughened up, I'll be able to team all of the time - apart from the bloody solo instances

That pretty much sums up my take on the transparently vindictive removal of the games most iconic character.

It was a bad development move for our game as it turns out .......

I decided to sub to the game as I can see that it has the potential to be very, very good.

The graphics are very easy on the eye and I like the combat system, but above all I love the genre.

Whilst I quite like the sword/sorcery/orcs/elves genre in movies and books, I just can't get into it in gaming terms.

    I've no idea why

TSW deals with a genre that is modern and ancient at the same time, and it ticks all my boxes (to coin a phrase).

I'm a big fan of the Laundry series of books by Charles Stross, so the conspiracy theory/Elder Gods/urban legends theme is something that I would prefer to play.

I honestly hope the game does well. I have no problem with buying the game and subbing - even if I can see that it appears to have some issues.

Here's hoping the game has a long future
  19. Maybe someone at NCsoft was unhappy that Wade killed Statesman - which led to his 'removal' from the game?

You know ... no iconic character to be figurehead for the game etc etc?

    Just sayin'......

However, I was making a suggestion as to how to get people to help/advise the player on possible problems that could be causing him/her to have such difficulty and/or to find people that would be willing to help. I don't see how me giving examples of how to actually get help is steamrolling a generic answer. If that is what you got from it, then so be it.

As a side note, I haven't had any issues finding a team in game whether it be for missions or dungeons. It may take a few minutes, but I do get one when I need it. It pays to subscribe to the CoH-Refugees and OOC channels. Also, you can go to Agartha to ask. I have ran across many end-game players that are willing to help out a lowbie.

Also, if you choose to leave a game because someone says "panties in a wad," then good luck to you. My finished post was actually much nicer and clean-cut that it originally was. I didn't see a post filled with "***" to be very helpful.

You're still not getting it are you?

Why modslap a paying customer, when you could provide relevant information that assists instead.

The modslap action makes me think that perhaps there's a problem with the game in general.

I know the poster in question from many years playing in CoH, and if he's having issues getting a team - then heaven help the rest of us.

I will certainly go and try out the suggestions that you've made, but there does seem to be a reluctance on the part of many TSW players to team for some reason.

That much was apparent right from the start of my trial period.

As for 'panties in a wad' .... it's not your fault, but I've just always considered it to be a really stupid thing to say

Now, as I said, I haven't seen the original post, so I can't begin to speculate as to why there would have been a mod intervention. I am guessing though that if you had posted something along the lines of "I am having issues finding groups and I keep dying solo. Could someone please take a look at my spec (and link your spec) to tell me what I might be able to change/improve upon?" OR "I usually play during x time frame, is there someone who would like to team with me to give me some pointers or would just like to group up in general?"

I see the above posts all the time and for the most part the general population is willing to help without being ******* (although there will be some of them out there too). But, if you jump in with you panties in a wad, nobody is going to be willing to honestly help you.
You've clearly missed the point of his post and just steamrolled a generic answer......

Perhaps the point you should have addressed was why he was in a situation where he had to post it on the TSW forums.

I also struggled to find a team in TSW during the 3 day trial, which was disappointing as I'm used to getting into a team with ease in this game - and I prefer to team.

I have just bought TSW and subbed, but the team aspect really needs to improve if it's going to be a long term game for me - as it's a deal breaker if I'm forced to play solo most of the time.

Essentially I'm giving the game 30 days to see if it's going to be for me, but I think that if I come across other players who use the term 'panties in a wad' .... that 30 days may shorten considerably.

It wasn't Arcadia ... I think it may have been either Grim or Cerberus.

I got chatting to a few players on general, and there do seem to be a lot of CoH players there - which is good to see.

I will be subbing to the game very shortly. I came in from work tonight itching to log in to the game ... but my trial finished last night

I think there's enough in the game to keep me occupied for a long time - as long as I can find a good SG (or whatever the TSW term is) to team with.
  23. Excellent video - as usual ... and truly touching.

    Thanks.
  24. I've just finished a 3 day trial of TSW.

Here's my observations on the game, based on my brief experience.

    Pros:

    1. A fresh take on the MMO genre, and one that I really enjoyed.

    2. Decent combat system - and I liked the way that you were able to advance the character.

    3. Brilliant graphics.

    Cons:

    1. Teaming ... Or the lack of it. I set out to try and put a team together on numerous occasions - with little success. It was explained to me in chat that the starter zone (Kingsmouth) is usually not a place where teams happen, which is a shame given that it takes a considerable amount of time to complete that zone .... and it has areas where a team would be of huge benefit.

    2. The game really needs a modern high end PC to get the best of it. I'm using a 3 year old PC with a quad core 2.4ghz CPU with an NVIDIA 9600 GT graphics card and I was getting times where the frame rate would slow to a crawl in busy areas.

I'm going to have give it some thought as to whether I'll be subbing to the game.

It's a very different kind of game compared to CoH...........
  25. I'm downloading a trial for TSW at the moment.

Looking forward to it, and hoping that it's going to grab my attention.
