Response to NCSoft Team Statement

To the "NCSoft Team".

Thank you for your response, and any consideration you have honestly given to saving the game, and also for allowing the forums to remain open. However, I feel there is still a huge deficit of goodwill that has been built up from the first month of the sunset.

- A bare bones refund system, giving your paying customers NO incentive to jump to your other products. My refund? Four bucks and change. I'm considering sending it back, you can keep it and the rest of my 8 year (almost constantly subscribed, with VIP and purchased points) investment into COH which is now worth nothing.

I'm sure other people who have paid into Freedom for the short time it was open would agree that some kind of meaningful return would have left a better impression.

- No accountability. Aside from a few vague statements of 'no longer fitting with long term plans', released to selected journalists, the way you closed the game was chicken-hearted to put it nicely. A better explanation, communicated directly from the people who made the decision to close the game would have done a lot to smooth things over, even if what they said wasn't what we wanted to hear.

Yes. It's true that no response is required, that the corporate norm is to write a quick Dear John letter (or paragraph) and to let the remains blow into the wind, but this was a missed opportunity to truly put this property to bed instead of heaving it into the cellar.

You do have one good suggestion, however - to keep playing. This game needs to be enjoyed to it's fullest up until the final hour. I want to see old friends come back, even if it is just to say goodbye. I want to see what other people have planned for their characters 'endgame', or more accurately - what their futures hold without us looking over their shoulders. I'm glad I'll get to witness the curtain call on Virtue, a great world in itself.

Yet, it does not mean that the fires of discontent should, or are going to be completely doused, like some seem to encourage, or are content to see happen.

Past actions follow you, and this was an uninspired effort, overall.

Er... you're complaining because you got your money back? Personally, I was thrilled that I was going to get real money instead of some worthless 'incentive'.

I'm not suggesting at all that an incentive be a substitute for what they did, a little more could have been done as a nod to our loyalty. Just saying.

I'm glad that people with huge balances probably got refunded, though.

Huh. After seeing all the vitriol being flung their way, I'm not finding any of that loyalty you seem to think exists.

I have tons of loyalty... to CoH. I have none to NCSoft, and have no intention of playing any of their other games. Any perks they added to my refund would have been a waste of time, though I suppose it would have been nice for anyone willing to try another walk through the meat grinder.

We're loyal to City of Heroes. Not NCSoft.

NCsoft has betrayed any loyalty we had towards them.

Enough existed for the game to last 8 years, you know.

There is a bit of it on the server I call home, too.
