Write thank you letters to everyone involved, tell everyone how great NCSoft is and encourage them to buy all of their games (keeping my word), then go visit City Hall, look up at Atlas, and smile the biggest goofiest smile ever.

Then, team up and fight some crime.

Work on getting Agent Standin +4 level shifted.
Also, work on Cog Caster's Incarnate stuff.
And, finally get Searing Rose to level 50. (4 years of hanging at level 47 is long enough)
Um...get at least one of each AT I have on Infinity to level 50.

OH! and actually attempt to team up with some members of the CCCP on Pinnacle. (Hey, my brother did it. why can't I?)

There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"

If it gets saved I'll be forced to make a difficult decision about whether or not to stick with it.

Based on the wording of some of Zwillinger's posts, I'm pretty sure that there's nothing we can do to stop NCSoft from shutting down the servers.

That's not to say the game can't be saved. I'm still hoping that it will be. I just don't have any reason to believe that NCSoft will be in charge any more. I expect it to either be sold or licensed to a new publisher, should it be saved.

If a third party were to take control of CoH, it might be necessary to divorce the CoH accounts from the Master Account. That may or may not be easy to do, so it's quite possible that we'd all have to create new accounts with the new company helming the project.

So, depending on how things go, I'll either be carrying on as normal, or rerolling all my old favourite characters. I wanted to do some pretty major respecs after i24 anyways - in some ways rerolling would be easier.

I don't really understand the question, because the premise is flawed. NCSoft doesn't want the game, and the players because of how that decision was handled don't want NCSoft.

Therefore, should the game be saved, it'll be on new servers in a new building, possibly independent and not reported on these forums which will be gone. In addition to that, any iteration of the game will not be CoH as you know it. It cannot. If NCSoft considers the game engine proprietary software, then a new engine needs to be coded. If NCSoft considers that the physical hardware of the game cannot be removed and relocated, all characters will be deleted. Even if Titan Network's program to save characters is used on a broad and extensive basis, it will take significant time to re-establish all those characters with all those badges, all those rewards and all those benefits back onto servers.

There is a ridiculous amounts of ifs in this situation and it's frankly naive to think a switch will be flipped and CoH will continue as is. This whole notion really needs to be disabused from people's perspectives.

To answer SuperOZ's question.

I'd get ready to answer the next threat to Paragon's safety with whatever hero I could make...

It's a simplistic answer, but I'm a simple kind of guy when it comes down to it...

"I play characters. I have to have a very strong visual appearance, backstory, name, etc. to get involved with a character, otherwise I simply won't play it very long. I'm not an RPer by any stretch of the imagination, but character concept is very important for me."- Back Alley Brawler
I couldn't agree more.

For me, it has always been about the journey rather than the destination. I've been playing nearly six years and only have two 50's, but plenty of alts. If I had to start from scratch in a reborn City and Isles that would be fine with me. Many of my core characters would probably explore different powersets or even archetypes given that opportunity.

Just a couple seconds before clicking this thread I was thinking of gangnam style.

As for what I'd do? Well.. I'd solo an AV with my peacebringer.

What will I do when City of Heroes is saved?! Other than be delighted????

I'd continue to play some everyday, but many of the grieving, hurt multi-year veterans who presently find CoH too painful to play would more or less instantly return (some already have) and I'd once more be balancing my time between two very active SGs on different servers; I'd play my 50s and my low-level alts; I'd buy the Nature Affinity powerset from the Paragon Market and start that NA toon I have built on Mids; I'd finally get around to respecing a couple of old 50's still without Issue 19 Inherent Fitness (LOL); I'd continue happily to play all the content we presently have as well as enjoying Issues 24 and beyond, enjoying everything the development team had planned and expect Matt "Positron" Miller to revise, modify and implement the plans revealed in the Loregasm thread. While I might buy an account-wide 4th Enhancement tray, at minimum I'd let my VIP subscription earn me the points to buy Retro Sci-Fi, CoT, Barbarian and other costume pieces. I'd finally start that Titan Weapons toons (LOL, I have the powerset but never got around to making the alt), and long story short: the show would go on! Oh! and I'd finally get aound to finishing outfitting a couple of SG bases.

It will depend on method how it is saved actually. IF another big names buy the game than I will be getting in the line for longest subscription possible after that to show my gratitude for first year I will be buying anything from market of said publisher as long as they have a market monthly with a good sum for a personal use.

If game is saved by efforts of TonyV and Titan networks efforts than I will donating previously mentioned amount and probably more constantly to their effort to keep game alive.

In either case however unless they find a way to get paragon studios too and the engine license from Cryptic/PWE it means a couple of years at least development time. In that case I will be providing donations whoever got their hands on CoH as long as my financial situation lets me to do so only other hobby I have that eats my financial resources is MTG and I rarely plays it anymore.

Super Oz, I totally understand your mindset.....and I think each of us know City Of Heroes is not saved yet, and if it is saved it will not be as is, but, Hope is something precious. Hope can enable you to keep going even after all your reserves are spent...and we need to keep going.

If starting from scratch is the price I have to pay to save this game, I will gladly pay it.

And, NCsoft does not own the game engine. As I understand it, Cryptic does. NcSoft has the right to use it as long as they own the game...and...well, if we cannot get the engine and have to build/code another, well, even if it does take a long time to make/code, we need a new game engine anyway...some things are worth waiting for and City Of Heroes is one of them.

That said, if City Is saved...I will first of all sink to my knees and thank God for speaking to and motivating Tony V, who in turn motivated us.

Then I will send yet another email to NCsoft thanking them for selling City to those who cherish it.

Then I will go shopping. I will first buy Guildwars2, maybe two copies, one for me and one for Mark and take out a sub to Blade and Soul because despite the scantily dressed females, that game looks adorable and hella fun.

I will buy these titles partly in gratitude to NCsoft, who has track record for never selling their sunsetted games, and, if Super OZ is correct, there will be a gap in between sunset and the new company being able to reopen the gates to Paragon, these games will keep me busy as I understand you can solo in both of them.

Second item on my shopping list takes me to to Barnes&Noble where I plan to buy some/all of Mercedes Lackey's books...bless that woman....hmm...will buy her books even if City is not saved.

And I promise to buy a years sub to City Of Heroes, and graze freely in the cash shop..I have always done these things, so I know I will do it

Hope.

Must have it.

Must.

Lisa.
