  1. I doubt anyone is capable of eating a Babbage, regardless if in larva stage or not.
    So this rumor is false.
  2. I play only on Union (with the exception of Unity Rallies), so it wouldn't be any concern to me. And I wouldn't mind moving to another server if Union was shut down either.
  3. My current favorite is the Stockpiling badge (Lambda sector, Neutropolis). I imagine it to mean that I stockpile food and other necessities in order to survive the apocalypse (closure threat).
  4. * Developed a unified gamer identity (as distinguished from my IRL identity) with purely CoH-dedicated accounts on Facebook and other communities.
    * Proliferated my lore by having all characters made in other games related to or clones of my characters in CoH.
    * Tried the blue side earlier on (without refudiating the red side).
    * More movies and experiments with demo editing.
  5. I don't actually have any mobs I dislike to encounter nowadays. I disliked snakes before, because they became tedious for low level villains.

Sappers just makes me pay attention, which I see as a challenge. Same goes for enemies using heavy damaging AoE attacks on my MM pets where I need to use my rotating goto binds.

An another things is that some of my characters literally hate certain enemies groups as a part of their story.
  6. Thanks for joining, was a great run!
  7. I'm in, good idea to have it in Praetoria, a phrase that comes handy for this Unity march is "Praetorian Spring". Which day are we going?
  8. Count me in, I'll be there 2h40m from now (hope I got the time zone conversion right)
  9. I'm all in for repeating rallies.
Although I do still prefer the regular servers for it.

Regular servers (S) vs Beta (B):
S1: efforts are visible in real world (I don't know if it just me, but I feel that the regular servers equals the current world, while beta server is a way to travel to the future)
S2: great opportunities for teaming, including running very challenging content, costume contests, formation of entirely new supergroups etc
S3: Getting into beta is not trivial for everyone. Subscribers beta, training room, US beta, Euro beta etc.
S4: Encourage the creations of clones of your main characters if the main event is on another server, which in the long run stimulate cross-server friendship and proliferation of your lore.

    B1: Beta is neutral
B2: Opportunity for cross-server friendship and lore proliferation in a similar way to S4
  10. Having them in an SG base is actually more difficult than having them in a normal map. It is because the Base command contain binary code, which many text editors mess up. I have made it once, but you might need to extract the binary code after the Base command with an hex editor and then put it back after demo editing.
(HHD Hex Editor Neo) is good and free.

I have used three methods to make screens with alts, ranging from most convenient to least convenient:
    1. Leandro's method.
    2. Make a demo with your MM pets. Replace them with costume code from demos with your other characters.
    3. As 2, but place your characters manually, 3 feet is a fair spacing.

In all methods, you will usually get better angle if you do the camera part with a short character. Or if you have a static camera, just reduce camera Y with 2-3 feet.
  11. Make a gaming party with my friends to celebrate the thwarted apocalypse.
Hopefully recruit some of them to the game.
    Start making videos again.
Make all my toons having other badges than "Stockpiling", "Ragnarok", "Apocalyptic" and "Survivalist" selected.
  12. I do not get any sound when playing back cohdemo files. Is it a bug, or some setting I need to switch on? I remember the sound worked great back in the I14 days. Sound works in normal gameplay, so it can't be a driver issue.
  13. I am playing around with demo editing and attempt to be creative with combining animations (MOV command). Having character A perform EMOTE_BAT_SMASH_REACT while B perform GROUND_PUNCH_HIT with properly adjusted POS and PYR makes a knee-on-stomach grappling position. However, these looping animations are of slightly different length (approx 1600 ms vs 1325, and in addition an approximate difference of 133ms to the "impact" point)
Is there a way to sync the animations by forcing on of them to restart (go to frame 0)? Subsequent applications of the MOV command seem to be ignored (animation keeps going on without restarting).

In the following example, the first cycle looks correct but the second is off sync because subsequent applications of the MOV command do not restart it:

    0 1 MOV EMOTE_BAT_SMASH_REACT 0
    133 6 MOV GROUND_PUNCH_HIT 0 //looks good with 133ms delay
    1467 SKYFILE SKY 1 0 1.000000 //give the slightly slower EMOTE_BAT_SMASH_REACT time to finish, 133+1467=1600
    0 1 MOV EMOTE_BAT_SMASH_REACT 0 //Second cycle starts here
    133 6 MOV GROUND_PUNCH_HIT 0 //restart GROUND_PUNCH_HIT to get the same 133ms delay.
  14. Regarding my experiences from other online games, power leveling alone can't kill a game. Diablo II have been around since 2000, and doing Baal runs* vs normal gameplay yields an astronomical XP gain factor, I guess it's in parity with the most advanced AE farms before the worst exploits where fixed (and there was no DFB).

What can bring down any game within weeks is dupe exploits. If the most desired items are suddenly available for everyone, you feel very little incentive to keep advancing your character. It was the reason I suddenly quit playing Rose Online (back in 2004), despite a very interesting crafting system.

I still think that Mission Architect is good for the game. Anything that allow you to build your own lore (regardless if canonical or not) is great for the long-term attachment.

*Baal runs is farming the final boss, usually with very mixed level teams.
  15. Thanks a lot for sharing!
I linked this thread from my blog post regarding how the game can survive by demo editing: http://lenina.players2go.com/2012/09...ters-and-game/
  16. It's always a question what you would pay more for. I enjoy spending cash on costumes, and do sometimes buy powersets that I feel fit my character concepts. I bought the five mission slot package for Mission Architect too.
My purchase history outside of subscription is full of appearance/expression related ones, but very few that actually improve my character performance.

So here is a list what I would pay for:
Increased size of architect missions. (gold member or 1-time purchase)
More features in Mission Architect (cut-scenes, earlier access to new powersets etc) (only available for gold members)
    New costume parts. (1-time purchases)
New SG base items. (1-time purchases)
Female muscle in costume designer (not sure about which pay model is best)
A smartphone app for access to character list, auction house, chat and perhaps costume editor (only available for gold members)

Advertisements are fine, as long they don't decrease performance and fit in (that's why I dislike most web ads). Put them as textures on some walls in game. Not sure if it's a big cashcow thought.

I do however know that some players can spend a lot on character performance boosts, aka pay2win. It's not my cup of tea, but I think that hardcore wallet warriors are a cashcow.
  17. I remember that I long time ago was able to give a macro to a friend by drag and drop, similar to how I give an inspiration or enhancement. You did also get a flashy text, similar to when you're given an enhancement.
But when I try it now, it just vanish from my tray and it don't show up in her tray. If I right-click on the macro, there's a menu saying I can give it to team members. I tried it, but nothing happens.
We're both VIPs and she have empty slots in the visible power trays.
  18. Some of my suggestions:

Minimize the amount of fighting and rely on non-combat objectives.

Use non-required boss fights where the boss run away at 50% health. Thus you "just win" the fight instead of defeating enemies.

Have friendly characters in the same age range as the kid, so kids have easier to relate to them.

I think you can use the costume designer for enemies, the tech, supernatural and animal options allow for fable creatures that neither look too human nor resemble actual animals.

Use video games and movies that you enjoyed as a child for inspiration.

    Good luck!
  19. I support the idea. Many other game that feature crafting do also feature breaking down.
  20. Well, I'm not forcing religion on anyone. It is the great deal in pop culture that inspire me for using/celebrating the day in some way.
I don't believe in the Rapture, I just find it a good catchy story.

I like Doctor Roswell's idea about using in-game mythology instead. Or maybe use something related to "the Coming Storm".
  21. The December 21th is a good opportunity for an apocalyptic event. I suggest the Rapture theme, where true Christians take off to the sky, while the rest are left behind facing Tribulation.

    Pre-Rapture
Since this is City of Heroes and not a church, I suggest that badge count is a proper way to determine if someone is ready for the Rapture. There will be some special alignment-like missions where players can choose to either lower or raise the probability to be raptured (serve Jesus or anti-Christ). The exact requirement for Rapture Ready is secret.

    The Rapture
If you are Rapture Ready and logged in when it occur, you will take off to the sky. You will see the world from above, and you will be accompanied by a trail of pure light, maybe a light blue alpha aura.

    The Tribulation
Those who are left behind will face the Tribulation. Current zone events like Zombies, Super naturals, Rikti and Nemesis will be common, giant monsters and arch villains will roam zones where they aren’t expected. Maybe some super unique invasion, like the Mako event.

    Heaven
Saved characters will have access to a heaven zone. An entirely new zone is probably out of the scope for an event, but I think some of Shadow Shard with a different sky color can work. Doing certain missions in heaven can yield interesting rewards. Some ideas:

    * A temporary power: exorcise demon (heal ally, clear status effects).
    * Confederate flag costume pieces
    * Death emotes (unsaved people might have access to it later)
    * Emotes: readbible, preach

    New Badge Idea

I like the idea. Some badges are meant to be very easy (like Next Big Thing) while others are meant to be very hard (Master of Lord Recluse's Strike Force, Firebug, Field Crafter etc).
However, badge credits should be awarded from arc completion, regardless if done in Ouroboros or in realtime. This is like how you can see your completed arcs in the Pillar of Ice and Flames: arcs completed outside of Ouroboros are starred too.

Point 4 by Thirty-Seven is a strong point against these badges. I'm not sure the best way to solve this. Maybe have several sets of badges for arcs grouped by year. Grouping by issue yields 3*24, which is probably too many.
  23. I want a single target melee attack that do great damage and a status effect, maybe T1 = immob, T2 = sleep or fear, T3 = stunned and T4 = hold. Power customization allow for several animation types, including the good old Knockout Blow. Same goes for the effect animation if the enemy is mezzed.
    Some ideas for effect animations:
    T1: Webbed
T2: Clutching injured body part, fear, sleep, coughing (no vomit)
T3: Dizzy, crawling, gasping for air
T4: Vomit, tantrum, frozen, collapse, contained in force field (as some hold procs do)

Maybe allow T2 and higher to put enemy in walllean or assumeposition if near wall.
  24. I got a question about it too: Is the KB->KD operation made before or after the "is enemy knocked over" evaluation?
For instance, I hit an enemy with a Crane Kick, slotted to give mag 10 KB. Enemy have 5.0 points of KB protection. Which of the following is true?
    A) "Enemy knocked over" is true, because 10 > 5. Proc reduce it to KD after calculation, and the enemy is knocked down.
    B) Proc reduce Crane Kick knockback to 0.75. It is lower than enemy KB protection (5), so the enemy is not knocked down as a result of order of evaluation.

If A is true, do it also apply to other KB procs? Say I have a power with mag 10 KB, slotted with a mag 3.0 KB proc and a mag 0.7 KD proc. The RNG is with me and both execute. Will this mean the power will knock down an enemy with 13.5 KB protection (13.7 > 13.5)
