Missing sound when playing cohdemo files

Not sure when it stopped working. I've been playing back some demos with an issue 10 version of the game and getting sound, but not when playing them back with issue 23. I still have yet to try them with issues 17 and 18. But pretty much everyone is having the same "silent movie" problem with demos using the current issue.
I do not get any sound when playing back cohdemo files. Is it a bug, or some setting I need to switch on? I remember the sound worked great back in the I14 days. Sound works in normal gameplay, so it can't be a driver issue.
