Back when you could get an HO drop on Hamidon raids if you simply damaged him at some point during the raid, even if you then went idle for half an hour? I did that pretty much every time I could. I liked the rewards, but old-school Hami raids were just so. boring.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
I ended up (at CoV EU launch) with all of the Pre-order sprints (that were US only) on an EU account.
Oh I was *also* very good at winning EU codes for superpacks/costume change powers etc etc.
I think i have had one of everything (and also helped out friends by telling them the codes) soon after they have gone up.
Think i have only had to miss out once or twice, and even then i got them on the 2nd time around >.>
Like spawning Hami bits in the AE, spawning archvillain escorts, making missions with tons of ambushes - hey, did you know that Hami mitos *aren't* intrinsically immobilized? When you spawned them in the AE you could knock them around.
I also got the mergeable Herc titans removed because they would sometimes merge with the *player*. I can't find any video of it, but if you spawned them as friendly and then got one damaged, 50% of the time they would decide to merge with the player instead of his partner. You'd stop what you were doing, turn, execute the deceive animation, then die and become invisible while the Zeus spawned on top of you.
I think they should have just granted you a Zeus costume effect and allowed you to continue on. For some reason, that suggestion was not adopted.

That was a hilarious bug!
Better than the hostage bug.
(One time I came across a group of 5th column menacing a computer desk. When I got near, the desk said "Computer Accessed!" then ran off.)

Spending hours and hours jumping on the 4 squares in pocket D does make you a better PvPer.
I did indeed get the Bug Hunter badge, but I never expected it.
I started harassing NCSoft support, the community managers, and the devs from the day I read at this one rumor site that they were developing CoH for Mac, because I was determined to get into the testing group so it wouldn't suck. Because so many other Mac game clients *really* suck. I think Ghost Falcon was the one who got me in.
From that point on, I wrote these weekly bug reports, sometimes with screenshots, detailing every bug I found from extreme on down. The high texture zones lag bug was one of my particular favorites to explore. I even built an entire SG base made to be as laggy as possible just so the devs could borrow it and test the issue (that means a base with lots of decoration, walls, and open space).
But like I said, I did all that just so the Mac client wouldn't suck. Imagine my surprise when I got an email which said the devs nominated me for a Bug Hunter badge.
So Castle was right all along; if you want a Bug Hunter badge, don't ask for it.
Also, one night during a beta me and pohsyb got into a lengthy discussion about personal player name colors and RGB color sets that I think scared just about everyone in the Beta Testers channel, including some of the other devs.

So THAT's what happened that one time! I couldn't make heads or tails of what I had just seen! (It was a crowded fight in one AE mission and I didn't see it clearly enough to get the bug to repeat).

First: what you're seeing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT_fnT_qnaI is the umpteenth time I tried to spawn these guys to fight. The biggest problem is that regardless of what you think you're seeing, the game engine sees Hamidon as a tiny entity at the nucleus' base. So they would often spawn in a place like behind a tiny crate and be unable to shoot at each other due to not having line of sight.
Second: what you're seeing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q66O0R4H2-4 is pohsyb using a dev-hacked mega-controller attempting to take on my original early beta test version of the Scrapper Challenge mission which involved six chained custom ambushes. The confession: pohsyb thought I was going to help him take on the mission. I thought I was just going to watch him die. One of us turned out to be wrong. I only started attacking after he dropped dead.

I have abused the aggro cap. If you gather enough foes, other foes will ignore you, sometimes even if you damage them. While this limits how many foes you can pull anywhere at one time, nothing prevents you from pulling you quota of foes onto other critters. Assuming you (a) can survive the aggro cap's worth of foes to start with and (b) you have the AoE potential to make it useful, you can defeat more foes at a time than will actually fight back.
If you annoy enough foes along the way, you can also establish a nice stream of foes into your chosen kill zone as you defeat ones who were aggro'd and ones previously over the cap are allowed to respond.
I have no illusions about being the only person to think of this. I may be one of the few to leverage it on a Defender or Corruptor, however.
Edit: I was reminded of this because of the posts about the AE, where it used to be possible to get stupid quantities of foes in small areas. It wasn't the only place i did it, though. Issue 16's difficulty settings cured me of most of my need to fight stuff in the AE.

Hi to Sodomy, Chill3r, 420, Nite, Angyl, 5iX, and of course Oscar and PainTrain.
I've used client-side patches like that.
...
...
WHAT? No! For replacing ART textures in missions and bases!
Funny wandering into a ruined office and see the Mona Lisa on the wall.
>.>
<.<;
Okay, the nude patch was amusing. But I only ever used it client-side! ^.^;;
I'll just stop talking and enjoy my shoe leather over in the corner over there...
But seriously, I will miss all those little client-side mods you could do. It's getting harder and harder to do that with more recent games. And THANK GOD for being able to edit out certain SOUNDS.
Without client-side edits Demon Summoners in Wentworths would drive me MAD!!!!
And I replaced the Music in Pocket D with the music from the Afterlife club on Omega from Mass Effect 2. ^_^

It's still leaking and my bucket's getting full. =\
I've been known to rage-delete characters when a mission went particularly badly...as if it were somehow their fault I can't play worth a crap. Almost did it again this afternoon, when my Earth/Earth Dom got pwnd by a bunch of Praetorian Clockwork.

Once, I was on a team and there were two empaths (me and another), the leader spontaneously kicked the other with no warning and said something that amounted to not wanting doubles when we all went 'wtf!'. We'd been having no problem on our missions before thatt.
I spent the rest of the mission 'accidentally' letting him die and being really apologetic each time, and reporting back to the other empath. And this amounts my only semi-evil act in the game. |

Fighting to make every reality, a better reality.
I posted a new Lucy Dreamtime mission to the AE. The confession? Aside from really liking her as a character, I really only did it so that I could create all of my characters for people to fight in one massive mission. Also, it is near impossible to finish in some scenarios. When we only had three slots, all of my arcs were based on my characters. With the advent of the AE, I could now create more characters than I could ever play. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but still.
I was creating an arc for AE about TV Tropes. It would have ruined your life.
I tell people that I'll do art commisions for them for free, because I know I'd come up with something awesome, but what I really mean to say is, "I'm not sure if I should, because it might take me several years to get it done." I should really say this to the people I work with, too, especially when they see something I've done, and offer me an impromptu art assignment.
I actually enjoy playing Champions, and don't understand why some people hate it so much. O.o;
If your character's name was N1PPL3S (or other inane against-the-TOS rubbish), I'm the one (or one of the people) who reported you.
During the original Beta, I encouraged people to create copyrighted characters, so I could see how long it would take before their name and costume would be generic'ed.
Often, when I say, "I have to go," what it really means is, "...play a different character."

In one of the betas a year or two ago, there was a bug where if you talked to the MA contact in Atlas Park, it would crash the server. I still have no idea how in the world that got in there; the issue had absolutely nothing to do with the MA system. Yet I'd click on him, accept the mission,... "Lost connection to map server." When I'd logged back on, everyone was saying, "What happened? The server crashed?" After about three or four times doing this and noticing that it was crashing right as I clicked the button, I finally figured out that I was doing it.
So I broadcasted something like, "Hey everyone, I think I'm crashing the server. I'm going to try it one more time just to rule out it being chance." I waited a few minutes just to make sure everything was stable, clicked, "Lost connection to map server." When I logged back in, people were pissed. I got a bunch of screamers yelling at me to stop doing whatever it was I was doing.
I wrote up a pretty detailed report about it, PMed it to Positron or somebody (can't remember exactly who), and it was fixed in the next beta release. Still, pretty funny.
Oh, and everyone who hasn't met me in person thinks that because I'm Tony Vazquez, I'm Hispanic. I'm not. I'm a pasty white computer geek that could probably pass as Norwegian or Finnish if I wanted to. It's funny meeting people who I've been talking online to for years. I get this a lot: "YOU'RE Tony!!?"
Speaking of meeting people, the first time I met Avatea, around 20 or so of us were in a room just hanging out eating bagels. She was walking around and after a minute or two as we were all mingling, she walked over to me. You have to keep in mind that Avatea, and I mean this in the most flattering of ways and I'm not exaggerating, is a six-foot-something Tahitian goddess. Anyone who has met her in person will vouch for me here.
Anyway, she walks up to me and introduces herself. "Hi, I'm Avatea, one of the Community Relations team."
I shake her hand and (still stunned by this goddess standing in front of me) say, "Hey there, I'm Tony V."
She takes a step back and says, "Oh my god, YOU'RE Tony V?"
Friends, let me tell you. In that moment more than any other time in my life, I felt like a rock star. I saw a lot of REALLY cool things that weekend and met a lot of REALLY cool people, but I'm just not sure that anything could top Avatea's reaction. In hindsight, as far as I know, she could have been thinking, "But you're a pasty white Norwegian computer geek!..." Don't know, don't care. But it was awesome.
Second best moment, though I have extremely little to do with Mids at all (you can thank Diellan for that gem), was when I think it was Matt Miller told me that at Paragon Studios, Mids was like Solitaire at every other company--that mindless time waster that people hide when the boss walks up.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
I never paid for the game. That is, I signed up for the free 2 week trial in Feb 2007, and liked CoH enough to subscribe.... without ever buying the actual game. At the time I assumed everyone did this, but then was told it was impossible (hmmm?).
I think because of this I often had weird things happen with my account. One interesting thing was I could bug out the redside respec trials. I was able to pull the last mission at a low level, and run it repeatedly as a regular mission at level 50, getting full reward merits each time. In this way I was able to farm reward merits. With friends tp'ing and helping kill vines - something along the lines of 200-400 reward merits an hour.
Stupid me, I eventually reported it thinking I would get bug hunter. Within a week it was fixed..... and no bug hunter for me.
Future exploits would NOT get reported - but used to the fullest extent of their exploitness. As seen in my fully stocked bases of purple and pvp IO's.
I thought I was rewarded from my report with costumes and stuff in lieu of bug hunter.... but that may have been just another bug.... anyway turns out I got the wedding pack, and all of the other costume packs of the time free on my account.

It works particularly well with a certain Cave AE farm where all the spawns are Patrols. You just park at the intersections and tag every patrol that walks past you with an AoE so that as soon as you drop below the agro cap, they'll run back to you.
I feel sorry for anyone and everyone who teams with me running that map.. but then I do warn them that 1) I can't guarantee their safety, and 2) I will aVenge(ance) them. Side note... having a defeated teammate nearby cuts the cost of his 8 toggles down to 0.51/end sec.
MAN, my Time/Fire was going to be an absolute MONSTER with the issue24 changes.

I mastered the art of min/maxing my participation.
