Confessions
When Issue 18 brought us side switching, it was possible for a while to coalition Hero and Villain SGs together.
You needed someone with SG permission to form coalitions to switch sides. Once on the other side, they could form a coalition with an SG from that side. While this was eventually fixed so you could no longer form new coalitions (I think it took until around I20 or so), oddly there was apparently no simple way for the devs to data mine for cross-faction coalitions such that they could break all such coalitions automatically. It took someone reporting the coalition, or some other way for a CS rep or what have you to notice it, and then it would be dissolved on a case-by case basis. My Hero and Villain SGs have been in a coalition this whole time. They have basically been personal SGs for a long time now, and I was simply very cautious about who I told about their being in a coalition together. Most people didn't seem to know it was ever possible. About all its good for is to make travel convenient between sides. Only Rogues and Vigilantes can take full advantage of it. You just hit the local SG portal, go in the other side's base and use their teleporters. It's been convenient for me for some time now getting my Rogues to the regular Hero-side Hamidon raids on Justice. You can use it to get into Ouroboros Echo zones with Rogues. If you try to send a full Villain to a Hero zone or vice versa, it won't work, barring degrees of exploit I'm not familiar with. You briefly appear in the target zone, then are teleported to Mercy (for Villains) or Atlas (for Heroes). The coalition has one other good use, though: it grants a pretty high degree of access to Ouroboros missions from the other side for rogues and vigilantes. If you want to take a Rogue on a Hero arc, for example, you get them on a team together with the Hero in charge and go into the Hero base. The Hero starts the arc, and the villain can run it. There are a few oddities that were introduced in I20 that sometimes get your "grey" character kicked if they try to zone to a co-op area, but otherwise it works out great. (This bug actually affects grey-aligned characters on some normal TFs - a Rogue will get kicked off of a Kahn if they zone to a coop area or into a SG base.) |

LOL, I wish I'd known about this "exploit" as it would have fit at least a couple of SG/VG groups as well as being very practical for vigilantes and rogues. Too bad it was against game policy, since I think it would have been nifty for this to have been permitted by game design.

I don't think the devs were highly opposed to it. I saw at least one post to the effect that they only really blocked it after side switching was an option because it because it somehow risked corruption issues. It clearly didn't always cause them, since it never screwed up any of my SGs or characters. Or if it was guaranteed, the corruption wasn't always catastrophic, or visible to the people using the "exploit".

Was this related to the emergency fix for Base Storage Bins. As I recall, it had something to do with visitors being able drop items into the Bins.

If they patched that as an "emergency" in I20, they were way behind. >.>

I um.. used to troll the forums occasionally. On purpose. Successfully. Mostly y'all didn't catch on that I was trolling. I was pretty good at it, generally only dangling worms that wouldn't cause too much ruckus or be seen as too unbelievable. Oftentimes I would do it just to play devil's advocate if I saw a certain group of people going into herd mentality without examining their own positions. Sometimes I would do it because it needed to be done and y'all were starting to take yourselves too seriously. Sometimes I would do it to let off steam. But it was always done in the spirit of an older brother picking on a younger brother. Or a younger brother annoying an older brother. Or some combination of the two.
Gonna miss y'all. Sincerely.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Here's a big confession from me.
I've beat myself up for years for not finishing the "Ghost" AE series. I got mad/frustrated with the original KB limit, and ended up retooling my arc drafts just to squeeze out 4 missions, let alone five. After all the frustration, I walked away a while to give myself breathing space, and wait for a KB increase.
Then the Devs, devilish bastards that they are, just kept adding CONTENT. The Return of the 5th Column made me cheer like a crazed orangutan at a banana strip club. Power customization. Praetoria! INCARNATES!
...and, I failed. I didn't keep my promise to people who, in good faith, waited on me to conclude Dani Mizel's story.
I didn't mean to leave it at a cliff hanger. I wanted to resolve it, but the way I wanted it, not by compromising it to shoehorn into AE. I kid you not: I have notes on the next 2 arcs to conclude her story once and for all, every mission mapped out, with map and costume notes and dialogue points, and everything.
This year was busy for me, with the baby and all. I was hoping to get arc 3 out by January, once I took a week long holiday finally. And then the sunset notice hit.
Everyone, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
If there's a way to do so, I swear, I'll finish her story for you all. More than anything, this is what I hope.
That's it. Please forgive me.

My confession is that I only got into AE a couple weeks ago. And then only because I had completed the rest of my bucket list on my main. And even then only because I thought it'd be fun to max number of MA ticket salvage. Farming bores me, so I've been exploring arcs composed by friends and/or ones with "Must See" ratings.
Even getting to play your story in the eleventh hour, I enjoyed it greatly! Rather than be upset that the story is left unfinished, I'm delighted to have seen it at all.
If you can, I'd enjoy getting to read your outlines and notes. Maybe in a thread in the AE forum?
Either way, thank you for sharing Dani's story, Dr T!

And I can't blame you. Lord only knows dude, the game has GOT to be secondary to family and a baby.
If we'd only had more time, I was more than willing to be patient and see how things turned out.
But the game ending just... Well there's nothing you can do about that.
I'd love to hear what your plans were. Maybe write it out and post on Titan? Or Virtueverse?

Well tonight, I just did it.
Kara Skye, my Grav/Kin controller Wormholed the nucleus of the Hamidon completely out of the goo, up the crater wall, to the top of the cliff, and all the way to the Helicopter! (Nothing but net!) Actually placing the last Wormhole spot IN the Helicopter. Then wormholed him BACK down the waterfall to the crater floor where we finally took him out. A truly epic finale.
