Usually it involved people teleporting me because they saw I was taking damage, and this resulted in possibly being teleported into more danger and faceplanting or whatnot.
That combined with the old sidekick leash made me even less inclined to team with friends who had somewhat odd ideas about how to play.

My confessions.
I still have a character with the Moire pattern. Black Djinn. I refuse to delete him or change his costume because that pattern is soo awesome!
I still leave Run on in combat a lot and find myself running out of endurance. Even after playing for like 6 years.
I enjoy Nikky Minaj, Lady Gaga, Cypress Hill, Rage Against the Machine, Santana, Enya, and No Doubt songs. Beethoven is good too.
I am somewhat of a misanthrope in real life.
I am not a bird. Your argument is not invalid.

Speaking of Recall Friend, one time in Siren's Call, I was hanging out in the villain base area on my hero (there was (is?) a specific flight path to avoid all the drones and park yourself next to the hospital door). I had thought that one of my teammates wanted to get to that spot as well, so I tp'ed him.
He didn't have the prompt on, and since I hadn't said anything (thinking we were on the same page) he was in the middle of running around, and promptly ran into drone range. He announced in broadcast "Watch out, they've got someone drone tp'ing!"
...I said nothing...
I am one of the people who make ridiculous bids on the auction house to throw everyone off. 25mil for a kinetic weapon? You got it.
Also, four years back, I would form TaskForces, get halfway through them, then kick everyone off the team. Not a proud moment, but since we are confessing.
Love,
Zem.
CoH was not my first MMORPG. In other MMO's I'd played cosumables such as health potions were either expensive or otherwise hard to come by. So I was reluctant to use inspirations much except when I REALLY needed them.
Now, over eight years later, I STILL hoard inspirations for when I REALLY need them. |

I just sell my insps. If it's a tier 1 I use it. If it's tier 2, I save it, once I have 3 of it I convert them to wakies because the insp vendor at your SG base buys them for 600 inf and other tier 2's for 200; thus it's just more efficient to convert all tier 2's to wakies. Tier 3's I sell on the market, because I get a lot more money that way.
I do the exact same thing. I'm also pretty OCD about my organization of them in my tray. Strongest at the bottom, weakest at the top, greens on the left, purples on the right, middle column for wakies, break-frees, etc.
|
Still, I bet this makes some people's OCD flare up just thinking about my doing it like that. I kind of does even for me.

Two columns of greens.
Two columns of blues.
One column of awakens and break frees.
Anything else gets used as it comes in, handed off to someone else, or dropped in email-to-self for later sale.
Strongest tend to gravitate toward the bottom, for those panicked function key hits.
Tray 1: Brawl, Sprint, attack powers (weak to strong). Combat and non-combat travel powers (e.g., Hover and Flight) in the 9 and 10 slots.
Tray 2: the non-offensive powerset - defenses, buffs, debuffs, pets, etc. Rest goes in the 10 slot.
Tray 3 (usually added in the 30s): pools, macros, and other powers.
Tray 9 (upper right corner, under the health/end/xp and buff display): veteran and utility powers, used between missions or once per: Return to Battle, Mystic Fortune, Reveal, Mission Teleporter, Ouro Portal, Assemble the Team, etc.
Tray 8 ("angle bracket" under tray 9): Incarnate powers, temp powers (including Experienced while leveling), Inner Inspiration.

My first character was an elec/dev blaster on Virtue named Electric Fairy.
Some time in late 2004, I went on every server and made Electric Fairy there, just so I could hold onto the name on every server. On two servers, someone had already beaten me to it!
Even today, there's a couple of servers where Electric Fairy is still level 1 and in Outbreak.

Of course, I can't actually imagine anyone gnashing their teeth over their inability to use the name, so I'm not TOO remorseful.

Okay, I'll cop to this, too. There's a Glass Goblin on every North American server, most of them in Outbreak or Atlas in a random costume. In my case, I kept them there in case I decided to transfer servers, something I've actually done a couple of times.

I got the name "Hydrophobia" on Justice for a theoretical Water/Dark Corruptor. I was sort of surprised that wasn't taken.
I also took the name "Occam's Laser" for an unspecified Beam Rifle of some sort. I'm not terribly surprised that wasn't taken, but I thought it was a cool name.
The confession aspect of this is that I just sat on the names, and never actually did anything with them. I reserved them before the sets they were aimed at and never got around to creating them. I haven't even bought Water Blast, even now. There's a part of me that says I should free them up in case someone out there wants them. But ... I like having them.

Oh, I've got a ton of names camped on Exalted during the great name rush that I never used. Used all the slots across 4 accounts (my normal two, plus two premiums that were VIP at the time thanks to the $2.99 deal).
Well, I used two of them but have about 40 more that I never got to.
I also have "Rusty the Powerful" on every server. Been hanging onto that since Going Rogue beta, but never came up something cool to do with it.
My inspi organization is very specific as well. Strongest on bottom, weakest on top. Blues left column, then reds, then yellows, then purples, then greens. I always try to keep the top row empty, save for a wakey on top of the greens and a breakfree next to that (because the bf is purple too). I always use the weakest inspis that I have so as to have a stock of stronger ones in case I need them. If I ever get an extra wakey, I delete it. If I get anything else(oranges, extra BFs, anything weaker than what I already have of anything else), I use it as soon as I can. Anytime I get an inspi stronger than one of the ones I'm stocking, I switch them out, and use the weaker one.

The guy that camped your name when Exalted launched was me.
I have Captain Micromanage saved on a few different servers, all MMs with a military-looking costume. Never ended up any of them except 1, which I got to about lvl 22.
Also found it a little surprising when I got the name Arachnos Widower for my arachnos widow character. Even though he never got passed level 18.

When they started coming out with different skins for weapons, I made Yankee Hater in beta, with a baseball bat (mace), he had as close to Red Sox outfit as I could, with a blue baseball cap, and some kind of vest with the letter B in red on it.
I never followed through on live because I got sick of rednecks thinking I hate northerners, when I'm from Cape Cod MA.

I made an elec/elec blaster on Virtue named Lady Faraday, some time in 2004. I deleted her when I ran out of slots for new characters.
Years later when it became possible to purchase more slots, I did so and attempted to remake Lady Faraday. I was pretty sure that the name would have been taken by someone else by then. But to my surprise, it was free! So Lady Faraday came back to Virtue.
I had another character named Mystic Blade, also on Virtue. I transferred her to another server and pretty much parked her at level 33. A few days later, I noticed some new hero floating around Virtue, named Mystic Blade. I kept seeing her off and on for quite some time. I thought it was kind of amusing.

Back when the tailor was first released, there was a bug where it was possible to get the Freedom Corps (later Longbow) tights costume with it. Back then there were no shops in King's row at all. I put two and two together and made a character in that costume called "Field Trainer" so that I could hang out in King's Row by the trainer to confuse the newbies.
Many lols were had until a GM changed my character's name - but he let me keep the costume!
