Melissa,

If there's one thing about City of Heroes that, at least in my humble opinion, separated it from every other game, it's this:

In most games, MMO or otherwise, the player usually feels as though they're playing in the developer's game. In City of Heroes, it's almost always felt like the developers, community team, and players were in it together; that this was our game. That speaks volumes about the people who collectively made up Paragon Studios, and why it's almost criminal that it's all come to such an abrupt end.

You and everyone else there has my respect and my gratitude.

Melissa, Thanks for all the work, effort and love that you and the rest of the staff have put into the game.

On your journeys into the future, keep the shiney side up and the rubber side down.

There are few words that fit here, aside from Thank You! as well.

I'm glad you had as good a time working on the game as we did playing it. I've been part of the silent majority during my time here, but never doubt all your work and effort was appreciated. The "wow" moments of playing through new content, the sheer fun of Rikti Stomping. The simple fact that from here on out, all CoH-heads will be the only ones who truly know that it is all a Nemesis Plot.

Thank you. And if you guys at Paragon decide to take action, get back on the horse and make the NEXT definitive superhero MMORPG packed with ideas a decade ahead of its time, please let us know as soon as possible. I'd really be interested in supporting the hell out of it.

My heart goes out to everyone in Paragon Studios. You guys have been part of my family for the last 7+ years. I started playing this game when my oldest son was just 3 years old. Now my husband, myself, and 3 of my 4 boys all have characters and have flown with the eagles.

This is a heart wrenching thing done to everyone involved and my hope is that you and everyone else are able to find something as fantastic as this place in the future.

From my family to yours, good luck and I will miss you.

PS Keeping tabs on Twitter so keep us updated!!

PSS Damn, you guys are RockStars!! <3 you all forever.

Melissa - I still remember feeling relieved when we met in 07 at Dave & Busters' that there was a woman on the team - you are so welcoming and kind. We talked not just about CoH, but about life, and some very similar experiences.

Then you sent my girls a CoH care package and decorated the outside with special Warwitch Hallowe'en artz! This made TA very jealous ..... You are truly a kind and generous soul with wit and humour!

You and the entire CoH team have been a part of something so much greater than the sum of it's parts. We all have. Change is the only constant, and sometimes it sucks ...

... but I suspect something beautiful and great lurks on the horizon ... so for now, we will mourn and say our goodbyes and try to build our sub-communities and cope with the losses we fear. .... and then the beautiful and great will emerge and we will find new ways we can't even imagine now, to learn and grow!

Thanks to you and the whole team - I never even knew this world was possible until CoH.

Much love ... dollops of sassiness ...

And thank you as well.

I don't think mere words can express how I feel about all the time and effort you and the people you worked with. Paragon will live in my heart and mind for a long time.

We have to thank you for making it possible :

Thanks to all Devs and Community workers.

You did an outstanding remarkable marvelous job with City of Heroes. Even more since Freedom (the steady input of new things, the community communication, the stories, the incarnate system, the customization, the ... hold it, hold it, I have to slow down, otherwise this post will be too long... still... i have seen some things for i24 and it´s such a pity. Damn.)

I want to thank you again.

I wish you an easy, good and fast journey to a new job at your liking together with all colleagues you want to keep.

Thank you, and everyone at Paragon Studios, for all the work you put into this game, and for the insight into daily life at PS that message gave us. It wasn't until this news came out, and I started reluctantly looking around the MMO landscape, that I realized just how incredibly unique this game is in so many ways. What you and the rest of the team built here over the past eight years is really a vibrant, living fictional world with countless ways for players to weave themselves into the story. The Clockwork King, the Shadow Shard, the Rikti War, the Midnighter Club, the FBSA departments and their brilliant meshing of superpowered fantasy and everyday office life, Mot and the Banished Pantheon, the Peacebringers and the Nictus, Ouroboros, the Menders and Silos, Cimerora, Portal Corporation, the Circle of Thorns and the Mu and their lost cities, heck, even the much-maligned Well of the Furies... I could go on and on, but no game is ever going to compare to the tapestry this one wove, and how it encouraged players to create any concept, with powers and costumes that could make almost anything they dreamed of work.

Thank you for creating this sprawling, crazy and immersive little world, and for making it so easy for us become a part of it. I hope everything goes well for you and the rest of the Paragon team, and that we'll get to hear about a new MMO featuring all of you soon.

I just had the hilarious thought of the dev team going outside and saying "Dev team, LFT!"

Sad to see it happen, though.

That's a very eloquent way to sum up how thankful I am for this game for the past five or six years.

I wish it had gone on for another 20 -- I'd have been there.

Thank you all for a wonderful game. Although I'm a redsider at heart I've also rolled a new hero for my personal farewell tour, and the first place I'm really looking forward to is the Hollows, with your awesome npc chatter. It's just one of the many things I've loved about CoH, and will remember fondly.

Best of luck to all of you in what you do next. You did good here. Really good.

Thank you for the time, the effort, the _heart_ you put into this game... and please pass my best wishes and hearty thanks on to all those you worked with that can't bear yet to read it for themselves.

We will miss you all terribly, I assure you.

Definitely keep us up to date on where you land, no matter what industry it may be... whatever it is, it will be made special, of that I am sure.

Thanks for posting, and I hope you don't get in trouble for posting. (Though as Bozo the Clown said on his final episode when he decided to play the Grand Prize Game, "What're they gonna do? Fire me?")

Thanks for everything. I'm still in shock, but I'm sure that whatever the devs are going through is worse. I've not cried yet, but I'm expecting it'll be coming.

Thanks for everything you did as a dev, leading the design like a pro. (And thanks for everything War Witch did, fictionality of the character notwithstanding. )

-EDIT-

Oh, wow. An accidental FPARN. My first FPARN, too.

I'm just going to be short right now and simply say, thank you.

This game, because of your team, is the best in the business. You all deserve to be treated like champions, because you have been and still are.

I am sorry that the corporate knowitalls have deemed this the correct step to take and I truly hope all of your next endeavors come timely and bring great happiness and success.

Indeed, there is much to celebrate. And I respect your stance on keeping positive. Despite the fact that it should absolutely not end this way, I agree with and share that positive outlook. I mean, I sincerely wish that Paragon Studios could some how get the financial support and be able to continue. There seriously is no other team out there that I'd have a quarter of the faith in as I have in Paragon Studios. If it were at all possible... I'd highly recommend it.

Anyway... It was a pleasure to meet you on the east coast a couple of times and I am truly saddened that I couldn't make it out to the west coast for any of the meets.

I will keep in touch and hope our paths cross again.
