Thank you melissa , while the money invested wasn't a problem for me and never will be.

The wonderfull world created by all of you dev (old and new) and the trust you have given us as players , made this one of the best community around.

One of the greatest development teams , am just shocked beyond beliefs too .
This must have been a error on NCSOFT part .

But most of all thank you for coming out to say goodbye .
I hope , really hope to see it as a new start , not a end .

Melissa,
I never knew you personally but, I have been a fan of you and the rest of the brilliant developers, who created such a great game. This saddens me on two levels.
1. I compare this dissolution to the break-up of the Beatles. You never really knew them, but you were always left us with an emotional and communal satisfaction.
2. In 2009, I was a successful manager, for a well regarded company, which I worked for nearly 8 years, and I was laid off with many of my other colleagues. I understand from a human stand point, how difficult at time it can be.
I finally, did find a new position after 10 months of searching. During that time, I played COH often, partially to get over some of the depression you feel when your just not landing the jobs you are applying for. I want to thank you and your team for helping me personally get over a tough time.
If there is anything I can do to help you all, I would do so.
Thanks,
@IORNCLAD

I thought I was done crying for now, but apparently not.

Thank you - all of you! - so very, very much. You gave us a wonderful, amazing world, where we really could be anything we imagined, and I can never thank you enough. Best of luck to you all!

I'd like to add a thank you to the long list here.

Thank you all so much for the game that suited ME better than anything else I've played.
I've sometimes had the suspicion that you've been bugging my home because this game got better and better, and it suited my desires in a spookily accurate way.
No other game will ever feel as welcoming whenever I log on.

Personal high points:
I've been playing a weekly TF/SF with a group of friends on and off for many years. We've never organised a particular set of roles (no holy trinity, thank you so much!). 6-8 random levels and AT's was always sufficient for a hilarious evening.
I went to a barbeque many hundreds of miles away to meet up with a bunch of 30 or so strangers. None of us had met before, but we knew each other really well because we all played blasters in the same supergroup.
Omega Sektor was one of the best weekends I can remember. Exhausting (I, like Gangrel, was an unpaid and sweaty gopher) but well worth all the effort. The meal with you in the Jewelry Quarter was a highlight. As was Rockjaw's Pizza and Condorman party.

I've spent the last few years biting my tongue in voice chat when playing other games, because even I got tired of every sentence I uttered starting "In City of Heroes..."

You have all, rednames and fellow players both, made my life happier.

Thanks to you all.

Be well in whatever you do next, Melissa. You deserve all the good things that come your way.

Thank you!!!

I wish you and the rest of the Paragon crew all the best in your next adventures.

I cannot tell you how sorry I am that the game is being 'ended' this way.

Thank You!!

I really can't find any more words right now, but I hope those 2 above can start to express how I feel.

That weekend was a killer for me... copious alcohol consumption (before the event), copious energy drink consumption (around 40 odd cans over the weekend), stupid amounts of coffee and minimal sleep.

Hey, the Brighton Leaving party was fun as well (although sad )

Make sure you stick your head around the corner at Global Gaming next weekend. There will be CoX players there, and it would be nice to kick back.

Thank you. It was good to meet you at the Boston Meet n Greet a few years ago. I'm kind of surprised at how sad I feel at this news, but take it as a sign of how awesome this game is and how much fun its given me the last 7 or so years. Good luck to you all.

Thanks to you and everyone at the Studio, Melissa, past and present, for the hard work and dedication (not to mention blood, sweat and tears) you guys expended on our behalf. Future MMO experiences are going to have something essentially insurmountable to live up to in your wake.

Take care and best of luck to you all.

Melissa, I only met you in person once, you introduced me to Apples to Apples, at that Hero Con. You and all the Devs were so generous with your time. I will never forget that experience. I only wish time had permitted me to go again.

More than any thing, I want to thank you for helping to create and then lead the development ofthis game. You truly, help take it to the next level .

Of course, we are concerned about how this impacts you all. The Devs of this game, more than any other, embraced the community and became apart of it. You became our friends. We care about you. That will never stop.

Melissa,

My heart breaks for you and the team. The love you guys put into the game was always clear, and it is always difficult to have a labor of love come to an end, especially an abrupt one.

As sad as I am to lose a game that has given me so much joy (though not as much as others - I was newer to the game than many), the real tragedy is, as has been said, that you and many like you have lost the ability to keep working on something you so clearly loved.

Know this, however, as someone who has worked at both DC and Marvel, I truly believe that the team at Paragon built a universe that can stand on equal footing with those two. That is something to be proud of, and I hope that takes you to bigger and better things.

Thanks so much for all the work you and the rest of the developers have put into the game. It really is the most fun that I've had (not to mention the most time that I've spent) with a game ever since I was a young 'un playing with my Amiga 500. I only wish that I'd listened to my friend and joined earlier so I got to enjoy City for longer than the near 3 years I'll manage!

So thanks again. The game would never have been as great as it is without the work and obvious love put into it from everyone at Paragon.

Thank you. This is simply the best MMO ever made, and still is. No other game I've played features its dynamic leveling of missions based on the team size and difficulty slider, the lack of need for tanks or healers, or the uniquely fast pace of play. I will always feel fortunate for having had the chance to play it.

This was and is the best game I've ever played...hands down...the community working together to better it was something that I will always cherish, and I hope you all land on your feet.

It's hard to say goodbye to the only MMO that I ever got into on a deep level, and the community of players and developers that I have come to know through this forum and the game. This was the only game that I have ever spent more than a year playing...and I spent a total of 6 years playing it! I look back at all the money spent, and the smiles and laughs and friendships and I know it was all worth it...

I too wish it would have lasted another ten years...that would have been awesome!

Thank you, and all the talented, dedicated, (dare I say crazy?) folks at Paragon Studios. You gave us all a place to be heroic, and I'm going to truly miss it when it's gone.

I've played many games in my 48 years and will, no doubt, play many more - but the special alchemy that was City of Heroes is unlikely to occur again. You should all be very proud of the work that you did, and I'm grateful for the many hours of enjoyment your hard work enabled over the past nearly-a-decade.

Best of luck with all your future endeavors.

War Witch, besides the player community, the dev community is a close runner up in why I played this game so much (amongst other, myriad things clamoring for attention). I started playing right at the start and then had to quit after a year due to some real life issues. When I came back, I actually started checking the forums and paying attention to what the developers were doing and... you all stuck out in how you were dedicated and passionate about the game. BAB and Castle were posting and joking at all hours, showing that they knew and cared what we thought.

And it was early on in there that I remember a post from you, saying your co-workers were teasing you (or laughing with you, can't recall) because you would start giggling at what lines you were giving to random NPCs in zones. That made me think you all would be a great crowd to work with, and I know it made your game a lot more fun to play. Those NPC lines are... gold. I feel like I'm in the city and I matter when a passing citizen shouts even something simple, like "We love you, Swedish Fury!" Just made my day.

Now, it's a little weird when a Cimeroran citizen seems to know I stopped Maelstrom in a TPN Campus trial in a different time and dimension, but it's still nice. Games like The Old Republic get close when they have contacts from old missions mail you, thanking you for freeing them from some Hutt gangster or whatever, but it's not as fun, or impromptu. I felt like a superhero in Paragon. I'd still stop Hellions from mugging a lady in Atlas, and not just because it was fun to knock them back 100 yards or something crazy like that.

Thanks for making this game different, and wonderful, and for having such an attention to detail. It showed.

City of Heroes was my home for 8 years because the world was so vibrant and palpable. Thank you for all you did with things like Striga all the way up to the most current releases War Witch!

Thank you so much for everything you have done and accomplished War Witch!

Thank you again - Melissa.

I wish I could meet you in person to give you a hug. I'm thinking you need one. I hope you are getting lots of them.

I was mostly a lurker here. I played the game with my friends more than I ever perused the forums. But I had friends who were here more and told me all about how much of whatever zone we were in was your ideas and work. I saw several videos of you on youtube especially in the run-up to Going Rogue. And your explanations and enthusiasm (And that of the team!) was infectious.

Striga, Faultline, so many others. AMAZING writing and detail! And PRAETORIA. And First Ward! And Night Ward! And Dark Astoria revamp! All absolute TRIUMPHS.

So thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!

I hope you have great success in whatever you do in the future. You absolutely deserve every bit of it.
