I think the main flaw with day jobs was tying it to badges (and 'm a badger) I think they should have had these random areas you could choose to log off to get rewards (the after badge reward without even tying into the badge system). You already had a reward for doing the Day Job thing. There was no need for two rewards. It would have been much simpler.

This is to me the biggest complaint of the game. To many things were overly complex. When IOs were introduced, the should have abandoned TO-DO-SOs. and have the "generic IOs" become the drops (and store purchasable). I'd have removed levels and let them be combined for ++ like boosters became. The IO Sets become the exclusive focus of crafting. A much simpler system no worries about origins out-leveling enhancements, none of that.

Incarnate has been covered but, should have had one currency in fact the game should have had (outside of the holiday event stuff), three currencies at the most: Inf, Invention, Incarnate. A much simpler system.

I choose the first category. It stings less and enables better growth.
But I may have remorse if I do not continue to try to save the gave I love...

This was emotionally powerful. You should feel proud of it. Just perfect.

My guess? Developing a billing system in-house will be quite an undertaking for a business without an influx of revenue from their customers.

This is brilliant (though I expected nothing less).

I like the idea a lot. We create a new genre an OMMOG especially with the super-architect. It can become almost any MMO style you (a player wants within the CoH client framework). Think about it, if the super-architect could move from just missions to world creation you could create a Goth Horror based server and it is a whole new game for that character to explore.

    Farewell

Ryan, thank you for all you have done for us from squishing bugs to making them

Oh, and that would be an awesome choice for the tribute!

  9. John, Before I say anything else. Thank you for making a compiling story. It was this, to me, that was one of the components that made this game worth playing. There are of course many. But, a good story is part of the escape the game provided.

I was at that panel, and we did get it in 5 seconds. And we loved it. There was a collective murmer. My contribution was a chuckle. Such, a brilliant recasting of the goatee trope that Praetorian was. It was City of Heroes with the influence of Cole leading that world to a different place. Originally, with the same goal but, with a different way to "achieve" it. I could not wait to play it. I enjoyed every minute of it when I did.

  11. While I understand what you are saying there was important difference between the two situations. The shut down of SWG was not a result of financial troubles of the publisher; it was a failure of the IP license holder to renew. They had a known finite date for the end which makes planning a bit easier.

The shut down of CoH, on the other hand is purely an immediate cost cutting measure. They cut all development to save costs on salaries and facilities used by the Devs. The servers being shut down in a few months is probably a contractual requirement with the hosting company. They are again cutting as soon as they possibly can.

Does it suck? Yes. Does the developers deserve better? Hell, yes. But, it is hard to compare the two situations really.

Doubtful. TimeWarner still owns the DC IP not Sony.

-They could get rid of the Rogue Isles...Oh I'd HHAAAAAAATEEEE that...but if red-side (and gold-side) is viewed as dead weight because few players play it?...
Since there is no additional cost to those zones, there really is no dead weight here. The players of those zones are counted as the players of the game since it is all one.

-They could meld RI and PC so that they aren't separate games and induct world PvP into the City...oh so many of you would hate that...I wouldn't particularly mind but it's definitely not a good thing.
This would be disasterious, too many curnt players woud leave thereby signifigantly reducing their ROI. I would agree this would be a bad scenario.

Eh, the current developers did the too. Not much difference there.

  13. Black Pebble, we Only hated you because you actively kept stuff from us and making us wait. We disliked the secret keeper that so, now you know how to be liked...

Seriously, thank you for all that you did for us!

  15. Matt, thank you for all that you have done for us! I loved badges. It appalled to the collector in me. I am sad that I'll never be able to catch them all. I just don't ave he time any more. Not in 3 months - I always figured I would be able to after I finished my degrees.

I loved incarnates. Oth the lore and the powers. I find it said that we will never see the final three. Maybe you could tell us what the plan fo them would have been?

Thank you again for helping to create the best MMO and community ever. I'm sorry this happened to everyone at Paragon. You deserve better. I look forward to playing in your next RPG if we cannot save this one. We will try our best.

  19. Thank you Sean. You should be proud of DA. It was some of the best writing in the game!

  20. Melissa, I only met you in person once, you introduced me to Apples to Apples, at that Hero Con. You and all the Devs were so generous with your time. I will never forget that experience. I only wish time had permitted me to go again.

More than any thing, I want to thank you for helping to create and then lead the development ofthis game. You truly, help take it to the next level .

Of course, we are concerned about how this impacts you all. The Devs of this game, more than any other, embraced the community and became apart of it. You became our friends. We care about you. That will never stop.
