Thank you so much for surrogate table top RPG experience!

I also have the exact same number of tokens I had the day the new system was introduced. I contacted support yet they say I have the proper amount. I can't see how that is possible since I should at least have a new token for October even if my billing date for November hasn't come yet.

Yeah I thought the rumor was Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria as Hank and Janet.
-
I'm not one to insist on action scenes and special effects...but it felt odd to me that the two key plot points with the critters happened off screen. We didn't see our lead heroes capturing or leading off the animals. Very odd for a show that seems to promote action as part of it's draw.

Wow. Fun episode. Who was the wolf that confronted Sam? I thought it was Debbie at first but I somehow doubt she "dealt" with Sam and then made it to Sookie's.
-
I saw bits and pieces of them growing up with my dad on PBS, but I have never seen in their entirety pre-Eccleston Doctor Who or Red Dwarf. Would love to catch up on those someday.

Sadly John Noble got snubbed in that category. So for me only Allen ******* on Good Wife is really competition for Dinklage.

No the best line...
Eric: Snookie...
Sookie: Sookie! -
A friend linked me to this article and video clip. I'd pay to watch that show/movie too!

Thanks for the advice folks. I always want to hear about more RPG settings to try and fill that void in my entertainment sources.
I have the main Ars Magica rules and a supplement or two from the 90s. I found it more rules heavy though. Less story/background filled than other White Wolf supplements, b ut then didn't they buy Ars Magica from another company? So it just makes sense they didn't fill it out a ton and mostly used it as a background source for Mage and Vampire.
I also have the original GURPS Wild Cards setting book. I could never FIND the original Wild Cards series and anthologies in any complete form to buy or check out from libraries. I hear recently they have been collecting them and making them more available. I did read a Wild Cards comic or two over the years.
Deadlands has always seemed possibly interesting to me. I just was never sure if it had enough setting and story info. I got the impression it was more of an action/dice rolling type RPG.
Silver Age Sentinals is one that I recall also hearing good things about but forgot to ever check out. I'll definately try to keep that in mind when I am in the mood to get into something new.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The more I can note down the better. I always love hearing about various RPG settings. I'll toss one out for folks who might be interested. In the early 90's I stumbled on a game called Jorun. It had a really interesting sort of space opera/sci fi setting. I know only a few people who had ever heard of it but if you can find any info on it online I'd recommend it as a novel take on a RPG setting. -
I am curious if anyone has some RPG suggestions for me. Specifically I rarely to never actually get to PLAY the games. My main interest is reading fun sourcebook and background materials. The actual mechanics of the games don't mean much to me beyond having fun creating loads of characters for myself. I am familliar with Champions but haven't really touched any superhero games in the last ten years.
Specifically I want heavy background and setting information in the books. Either pure setting supplements or main game books that include a lot of original setting and character information. I became addicted to the original World of Darkness books and it's supplements. That of course, along with my love of comics, branched out into the short lived Adventure! and Aberrant books.
Any fun and in depth original RPG game and world suggestions would be appreciated. Beyond the general DC and Marvel settings I am familiar with. -
I love Gates and voted for him. I always love hos vocal comments regarding politics and racial philosophy.

I'd rate it about 9 for me. Probably the only thing more important to me right now would be more Story Arc content.

I spent an hour and a half to two hours ToTing in a costume on a level 4-6 character yesterday. I got costume salvage as normal though the spawns still seem broken with many boss+lt spawns and such. A bit much for a solo low level character.
I never got a Halloween Tip. My question is can the Halloween Tip be gained by characters lower than level 20? I can't seem to see any information on that in this thread. If it is gated to level 20 that seems...well not a great idea. -
Thought it was an excellent first episode. Now just to decide if it's just the flowers mom has discovered and working with that gave them the powers and Evil Rev. Camden is only investigating/abusing it or if the corporation actually pre-exposed the family with the reasearch.
Hopefully finding out will be a fun ride. -
I personally would have to go for Option 2. I'd rather have to deal with an extra entry or extra clutter than risk a piece that's "improved" like so many pieces have been that change dramatically. Things like the old suit tops and such.
If the item really, truly is the SAME piece just completely improved I suppose I couldn't complain about it being replaced. I just fear the loss of useful items as has happened before. -
Elemental Weapon Attacks: All the Fire Sword and ice Sword and Stone Hammer type attacks I'd love to see weaponless versions that are more universally related to using that element as an attack.
Power Pools: As many of the power pool powers as possible to be allowed to have a non animated effect as well as variants for the Medicine Pool that do not use the "tricorder."
Prestige Sprint Powers: The ability to color the various powers would open up a LOT of RP and creativity and the ability to match the looks to character concepts.
Dark "Skull" Powers: The various Darkness powers that incorperate a skull in the effect I'd love to have a more generic option that would fit other concepts beyond just using some other dimensional darkforce. Since they can be colored already I find myself skipping attacks that have that specific effect so I can color the rest of the sets into a different theme.
Ice Armors: I'd love for a variant of Ice Armor that wasn't as big and blocky. Maybe something inspired by the Stone armors with icicles and crusts of rhime and ice on your bode but not a giant body suit.
Granite Armor: Ability to color the current version as well as a non body swapping version that can be colored and also shows the character at the same time.
Claws: A way to allow for feral/fingernail non appliance claws to work for the character. -
The two items I especially want returned are the bandaged face/head option. it was available in City of Villains Beta and I believe for a short time after that. it was sort of a mummy/bandages look.
More importantly are the original suit jackets for men and women that were form fitting and one layer and weren't bulky and didn't clip with things. Those looked awesome and I feels ad every time I go to use jackets and decide they just don't look good enough.
Thank you greatly for this thread as it has brought up MANY old costume features and pieces I miss. -
Bill I got a new computer and followed your instructions as I had before successfully. I then forgot to install Test. Then came the closed beta for Dual Pistols and I decided to copy an install for Test. This is where I hit some issues. First off it was when test was having weird updater issues. I eventually managed to get through doing the installation on this Windows 7 machine but it never created a new shortcut to cohupdater.exe.
So I now have a desktop with the all the log files and the copy of the .exe and a shortcut that says CohUpdater - Shortcut. But when I remove everything but that shrotcut from the desktop I cannot tun it since it's in the trash. So I've left it all on my desktop and can connect to the test server that way. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks -
I'd definately LOVE various forms of Investigation and Detective WOrk and such to be added to the game. Back when the SSOOCS was first mentioned I loved hearing the little tidbits of concepts for doing other tasks using those skills. Magical or Scientific Research, Medical skills, Social skills. Things that could have fully out of combat effects as well as be integrated into regular gameplay as QOL improvements like the Veteran Reveal power is now or how Pets now appear on your Map or the upcoming Clue and possibly final mission objective locating.
Stuff that wouldn't be REQUIRED and you could play exactly as you do now if you want but if you wanted to pursue these non combat aspects would add fun sideline goals and games.
Of course the often mentioned reconstructing of zones as well as other classic heroic non combat things like saving folks from disasters or accidents would be great. I really like the idea mentioned in this thread as well of a resource management, optional gameplay idea.
This would really add to the red side desire to be more proactive in your villainy. With the heroic side having it's own take on it as well.
Lots of great ideas here. I hope the Dev's really look to expanding the game in this way as well as regular contant in the future. Now that the big ticket large new tech features are being finished I think it would be a valuable way for CoH to grow without alienating the current players with huge new graphical upgrades and such. -
My main problem with my first and main character an Empathy Defender is the endurance issues while trying to solo. I have the tools to survive mostly even if I don't have any status protection. I however have to mostly stick to Heroic missions because any more foes cause even the easiest scanner missions to become a long boring haul.

One of the Poison power set powers has a nice vomiting variation for it's animation.

I would definately vote for a change that allowed for customization and seeing your character.
