It seems that this is the most anticipated superhero movie for next summer, which is amazing considering that Batman and Spider-Man will be in theaters in July.

I want to be placed in suspended animation right now so I can wake up in May. I'm old and have been waiting for three decades for this.

I'm with you! Well, not in the same cubical, that would be weird.

I have such high expectations for this movie if it doesn't disappoint I might very well explode!

ps: Props for the avatar. Love that book.

If I could only see one between the 3. Avengers is the one I would go with

In typical movie fashion, it looks like Cap will be running around without his mask/ helmet a good portion of the time.

Also not sure about Banner...

Overall, though, looks awesome!

Cartman tried that already. I didn't work out well.

At least none of these guys actually have secret identities. I'm looking at you Spider-Man.

Thoughts:

  • Wondering what exactly Loki's motivation is for going on the offensive on this scale; I'd imagine Whedon will give him more to work with than merely his villain status.
  • To most folks it's going to look like Loki taking on the entire planet and somehow being a threat, even though Thor beat him by himself, but the movie's still more than 6 months away from release, so they're undoubtedly going to add the secondary (or main, depending on how you look at it) threat in those traveling explosion shots.
  • Tony does come off a bit dickish in this trailer, but perhaps he's bitter since, according to Iron Man 2, he's not actually on the team.
  • It's obvious the bulk of the effects shots aren't done, but the ones they included were nice.
  • Not liking Thor's hair, which I hope isn't an indicator of overall quality like it was with X-Men 3 (it sounds silly but it's true!)
  • Speaking of Thor, I wish we'll see him in some flying shots, so it's clear that Iron Man isn't the only flyer on the team; also, for epicness.
  • Cap getting in Iron Man's face may appear to be conflict within the team for its own sake, but I have a feeling it's part of Cap trying to get them to work as a unit and perhaps criticizing Tony for his lack of fighting ability outside the suit.
  • Does Thor attack Cap during a training sequence? Is he being mind-controlled? Is one of them part of the rumored shape-shifting army?
  • Looks like Tony's vulnerability outside the suit will come into play for at least one scene, with Loki tossing him out of a window.
  • It appears the non-powered members will be getting their own triumphant moments, at least, as they should.
  • Cap's suit does look a bit better in motion, and it seems they'll go the Spider-Man route with his face exposed for a good portion, which could reflect them realizing the helmet doesn't look as well as they hoped.
  • Again, Tony might sound douchey at the end when he's talking to Banner, but I think he might be making light of the fact that SHIELD is more interested in the Hulk than him.
  • Finally, the reveal of this incarnation of Hulk shows they aren't ******* around when it comes to his CGI. Nice!

That's always the difficult thing, you've got power houses like Thor, Hulk and Iron Man next to guys like Hawkeye and Black Widow (and Captain America who's somewhere inbetween). You have to make them all seem valuable without depowering the strong guys or looking like you're patronising the lesser powered guys.

I'm guessing Nick Fury sends Cap to bring in Thor when he first reappears on Earth.

It's possible, but I doubt it. Thor already pledged an alliance to SHIELD provided they returned everything to Jane Foster. It may depend more on the circumstances of Thor's return: Will Jane find a way to bring him back? Will Odin repair the Bifrost Bridge? Will Loki's emergence on Earth lure Thor in? Or a combination of these things?

In any case, I think if they're going to have the team needing to fight one of the members to bring them in, they'll save that for Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo has been attached for a very long time to this film. (SDCC 2009? or 2010?) From my understanding Ed didn't agree with the direction Hulk was used in this movie.

On topic - This looks so awesome! I have high hopes that a group movie can be done well given the number of A-list actors. It helps when you have people that have become passionate about their characters and role.

Also, the Hulk CGI looks great! May cannot get here fast enough.

Oh, and if I was Marvel, I might've held onto the Hulk reveal just a little while longer, just until right after WB released a full Dark Knight Rises trailer, just to screw with them.

In Thor The Movie he gradually moves from just wanting to sabotage Thor's big day to being truely evil as he comes to terms with the secrets of his origins. Even at the end he wanted the approval of his "father". I suspect in this movie he will have moved on to truely bitter and twisted. In that regard it will be much like the mythology.

I liked the fact that Captain American is wearing old mans clothes and that Tony is being and arrogant shite.

The more I find out about this movie the happier I am

I really want to see the Red Skull involved as well. In the Capt America movie it looked to me like he was transported rather than destroyed. However if that was the case I suspect we would have seen him in the trailers by now. Oh well, you can't have everything.

Maybe the next trailer might have the Stark-Loki exchange that was shown at the Disney Entertainment Expo

Loki: I have an army

Tony: We have a Hulk

Que face of Hulk roaring at the screen.
