No, that's Champions Online. Champions is pencil-and-paper. Which is a good thing now that I think about it. The publisher can't barge into your house and take all your rulebooks and character sheets when they decide to stop working on the game.

Yep, that's where I'll go. I just hope the game will be old WoD...in the new one only Changeling is good.

Transformers Universe looks interesting too...so far.

btw, as good as CO may be (at least better than DCUO, appearently), playing it would mean giving money to Jack ***hole Emmert; and I'd rather be caught dead than giving him either my money or my time...especially if the rumors are true and CoH got axed over licensing troubles.

I just resubbed last night, played for about an hour, and felt this way..

Save the 15 bucks and go buy some good ice cream or something, you'll enjoy it longer xD

There's also a few very solid looking Wrath private servers if you didn't mind Wrath.. Maybe some TBC if you look hard enough.

Maybe CO, but more likely DCUO. I don't want to play any of the fantasy MMOs. Been there, got bored. Superhero/Villain MMOs are the way forward!

No clue, but it won't be an NCSoft or Cryptic product --- EVER.

No game will ever have the same family feel this game has given me. My MMO days are over for the foreseeable future.

I may hasten up those plans a bit.
That sounds pretty neat.

I think I'll stick to single player games for awhile... maybe playing some Team Fortress 2, Blacklight Retribution, or Halo Reach for a multiplayer fix. I really can't see myself getting into any MMORPGs anytime soon.

eh of all things, wow NOW would actually kind a work for me. the biggest issue i had was the races were generic, the gear made everyone look the same, and no monks. well, draeni look cool, transmogrifiers can change armor and monks in the next expansion.

Its one of the few probably lively games thats also accessable for Macintosh :C

,,!,,(>_<),,!,, GW2 and its windows based game. CoH was the only think i believe NCsoft had (not sure if liniage or GW1 has a mac client) but even on the Mac launcher Aion was on it but on the website the download was strictly windows (.exe) thing

DCUO and SWTOR dont have mac clients either..

Ill probably have the same Dilema as i did first starting CoH with picking an race/AT? that would fit what i did on CoH (db/regen stalker) the most.

Pretty 'blah' with CoH going still, so maybe not thinking to clear on my next MMO. But I see my choices as one of the following three.

1. CO, which I all ready downloaded, installed, and couldn't even get past the character creator because I just didn't like it. I tried it once before, and it was a grindy Hell for me. Will try to push past it though.

2. EVE Online, back to being a pirating dick whom is forced to do everything in game for the L0Lz because it is completely boring otherwise. I hate myself for being good with spreadsheets, and doing well in EVE's markets. What I hate more though is the average player I eventually end up with in an EVE corp, whom thinks their three years or more advantage over new players in EVE is proof of uber-skillz.

3. Neverwinter... I really just want to get a rep as DM ******* by using the Forge to make impossible story arcs, that leave everyone pissed whom is foolish enough to try them. Loved making NWN1 & 2 content, and being on a RP server's staff. So I know I'll hate this PoS sawed off NW from the start, and all there will be for me is griefing my fellow player in boredom.

Just gave DCUO about five minutes of my time, and couldn't get into it at all. I'm now downloading CO, to see how many minutes I will last before I give that up as well.

Back to full time console gaming for me. I've disliked almost every other MMO I've tried. I might go back to Dungeon Fighter Online for a while, but that got old pretty quick and the community was not even close to being as good as this one.

Might try Team Fortress 2 now that we have a comp that can actually run it (which we got for CoH of course).

EDIT: I'll also still hang out on GameFAQs where I have changed prt of my signatire to this: "RIP CIty of Heroes and Paragon Studios - Killed by NCsoft"

For the heavy roleplayers or people looking for something very different, I am considering returning to one of the two games below. IMO, anyone who is considering a career in game design should at least log a month or two in these games and look at what possibilities are out there in terms of multi-player systems. Both games have very tight communities, in some ways similar to CoH. Both cost money (last I checked $15 a month) but you get lots of interaction with the developer team.

Gemstone IV was originally created in 1989(!) It is an experience-based game with 9 classes. The game has been under continuous development for literally decades. Injuries are semi-realistic (a blow to your hand may make you bleed or cut it off completely); Empaths here can only heal themselves; they heal you by first "transferring" wounds to themselves. Enemies sometimes drop chests that Thieves can open... if they don't fail to disarm any traps on them. The "simpler" game (IMO) than Dragonrealms, which was its sequel, but about equally popular.

Dragonrealms is a sequel to Gemstone IV, originally released in 1996. Its exp-system is skill-based. Features some unusual classes (Moon Mage: cast spells that vary in power based on the current phases of the planet's 3 moons, Empaths: as above, but they take a vow to never injure any living creature except the undead, Necromancer: you must live your existence in secret, if another player ever figures out you are a Necro and you are inside town they can attack you or have you arrested by authorities). Like GS4, the game world is HUGE (and unlike most huge worlds, what's out there is actually interesting, too.)

Just did the tutorial on DCUO. It's interesting, but you can sure tell it was made for a console. I'm going to keep messing around with it, but it's not CoX. Watching my costume change due to loot is making me cringe.

Champions (the pen and paper RPG) is coming out with a new version this fall. It's a shorter, streamlined version of their main rules. That's a nice bonus if you are thinking of getting into it since you won't need the multiple books to start off.

If you do hang out on their forums, say "hi" on the forums, I hang out there.

you can make it so the loot doesn't show on your character

Some of you I know. Many, I don't -- mostly because I've been gone a bit. Sad to see this happen though.

For what it's worth, you can find me on Steam as Drunken Firebat.

Last I heard the WoD MMO is being made by the EVE Online people. Y'know, Speadsheets in Space? I've heard absolutely dreadful things about how it's going to be so PVP centric and based on buying-your-way-into-power-with-real-moneez gameplay. As it stands, wouldn't touch that game if they paid me.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

I’ve played this game since its launch with occasional breaks, but I’ve always come back, every other MMO I have tried, just didn’t do it for me. I know people have said this game is dated, but IMO it has really aged well, and stuff done since Freedom I’ve liked overall.
So where will I go? Most likely real life, none of the other MMO’s I have seen have done it for me like here. The sad part here is that had this game been owned by Funcom or Sony, this game would’ve likely not been cancelled.
If I do decide on an MMO
-CO most definitely not, I hated it
-DCOU would be the most likely candidate, I might give it a second chance
-Secret World a possibility
-WOW it was ok, I might give it another try
-Star Wars the Old Republic, is possible
What is for sure, there will not be another MMO I have enjoyed half as much as this one

Praying for a last minute save from somewhere, maybe another company might be interested in buying CoX and Paragon Studios?

I've no intent to check out EVE. Sounds fun at first (give everyone space ships and let them lose with lasers!) until you find out that its mostly management of said space ships.
