I don't feel VIP at all

Well, I am VIP player and I've been playing the game for about almost six years now. Something that really bothers me as that I have to pay for new powersets. Before the launch of Freedom powersets were included in the sub ( correct me please if I am wrong) now it seems almost every powerset has to be purchased off the market. Now as VIP we don't even get a discount. First off, I understand we get new content in itrials, some costume sets, and story arcs ..etc trust me I aware of we get, however it doesn't feel VIPish at all!

I have no problem by the way with content and what the development team is doing. My only concern it seems that everything requires shelling out money for points. Hell a half off discount for new powers would suffice not even that.

Try playing Premium or F2P. Limitations and the stuff they have to buy to play the normal game is a lot. (If you don't have a gazillion tokens)

You might feel plenty VIP when you come back.

Or you may not.

I have good news for you my friend. You do NOT have to pay for new powersets. I have still not bought staff melee. I did purchase StJ, Titan Weapons, and Water Blast. All of which I enjoy. (And when I run them, yes, there is a part of me that is glad they are a tiny bit restricted. I really should run more villains....)

I think you are right though. I came back recently and am premium, but have no desire to become VIP because the perks just don't seem very VIP'ish to me. Also majority of other players who I talk to that are VIP feel the same way. Now if there were discounts like that in the market that would be just 1 way to lure me to sub, but as of now being VIP doesn't attract me at all. I will stick to my premium account and am very content with it at the moment.

Uh, you already get that every month. You get a 100% off discount if you save up two months worth of points you get with your sub. Your fault if you blow that on super packs, amplifiers, inspirations and the like.

It's just a matter of perception.

BEFORE the Paragon Market, we only got new power sets during the release of SOME issues.

Now, we get power sets released with every issue, PLUS more power sets available on the Paragon market.

See, it's just a perception issue.

American Dawg, Starblaze, Neanderthal Joe, Shining Dawn, Tokamak Dragon, Stinger Incarnate, Burning Tyger, Dover Tornado, Big Roach, Dark Paladin, Archmage Wylde, Kings Row Hornet, Prancing Deer
Avogadro, Science Lord
Edgar Nightcraft, Doc Cicada, Chupa Macabre, Dr Forchtenstein, Blood Shrew

Would you really rather go back to having one or two new powersets every couple of years, or what we're getting now?

Prior to Freedom, we only got a handful of new powersets outside of expansions. Since Freedom's launch, we've gotten more VIP powersets than free powersets we'd gotten in the 6 years previous to Freedom. That's not counting the pay powersets.

It's odd that you say that because the fact that I have to pay for powersets doesn't make me feel like a VIP either: it makes me feel like a PIGS! Person of Inter-Galactic Significance, that is! With a mere several mouse clicks, the forces of nature come together at my fingertips, bending to my every whim! An electrical signal is sent from my mighty brain through my highly evolved nervous system down to my stately digit, crushing the unsuspecting button into submission. In its understandable urgency to kowtow to my designs, it then relays a signal through a series of tubes, in real time. At the local pumping station, NCSoft collects my pronouncement and from it gathers that my unflinching wisdom and unstoppable potency have come together to make them an offer that they are powerless to refuse: "Give me your power sets," they imagine me intoning, "and nobody gets hurt and you get ten dollars." Hurriedly they uphold their end of the bargain, knowing full well the consequences of dalliance. Behold: I have gained the ability to hit a robot with a stick without the merest exertion of my callipygian form.

Now would somebody PL me plz?

Consider to 400 or 500 points you get per month as a VIP
to be your market discount.

As a VIP, you do get free powersets, for which Premium
players must pay.

You also have the option to purchase additional powersets.
Just like before, but faster - previously, you only had two
opportunities to pay for new powersets - City of Villains
and Going Rogue. If you like, you can save your points
for a year or two before buying new sets, then get them
all at one, to keep your VIP experience the same as before

Four new powersets were introduced with Going Rogue. If you did not purchase Going Rogue before Freedom, you had no access to those powersets.

At least 5 new powersets (The 5 MasterMind primaries) were introduced with CoV. Until the games were merged, if you didn't purchase CoV, you had no access to those powersets.

I may have forgotten some other powersets that were released with CoV, but this is a good start on correcting the statement that powersets were included in the sub before Freedom.

There were a handful of power sets released for free over the years, but they were few and far between outside of Expansions and Expanshalones.

Now we've been getting a Free for VIP powerset with each full issue release and a new paid powerset each month or so.

I think we've had more powersets released since the launch of Freedom than we ever got outside of Expansions and Expanshalones.

As for getting a discount as a VIP? How many Paragon Points do you get each month included with your sub? 400? 550? That's at least a 50% discount on the cost of a powerset.

Once they started adding things to the game via Boosters, Expanshalones (CoV) or Expansions (GR) we never got everything for free.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I think since freedom launched I've only actually paid for 1 powerset, the rest I got for "free" with my monthly points stipend.

So far, the Free for VIP powersets are (Or are going to be):

Dark Control
Dark Assault
Darkness Affinity
Martial Combat
Martial Assault

All of which are (or were) HIGHLY requested powersets. For a meagre $15 (£10 for me) a month, you get them plus:

Several costume sets
Complete access to SSA arcs
First Ward AND Night Ward
Alignment System
Inventions and Auction House
New Incarnate Story Arcs
And some more i'm probably forgetting.

Your sub now gets you more than ever before. The paid-for stuff? Well ... Paragon has to make business somehow! Subs alone won't make up for the amount of effort they're putting in these days.

Even for a T9 like me, if I un-subbed i'd still lose a lot. Enough stuff to keep me subbed.

And finally: *Obligatory throw-away 'Entitlement' message*

I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think I love you.

PS., not enough to PL you.

Every month as a VIP you get 400 Paragon Points (550 if you're at the top tier of the Paragon Reward table), 1 Paragon Reward Token and 1 server transfer. Those points can be put towards power sets, costume sets, whatever. You also get access to all the Signature Story Arcs included in that, Incarnate Trials, Dark Astoria Incarnate Storyarcs, First Ward, Night Ward (I think?), 12 character slots per server (with a maximum of 48 unlockable per server, this goes down to 36 if you're not subbed as a VIP).

You get free access to several costume sets that you would otherwise have to buy as a premium player, like the IDF pieces.

As has been said before, we're getting new powersets faster than ever now, thanks to the cash injection from the Paragon Market.

If you spend smart, you could just pay the sub and unlock powersets with those 400pp a month. It all depends on what you want to do with the market. If you want something, and don't have the points, you can either save the stipend or spend the money.

You could even wait for things to go on sale to pick them up to make the most of your stipend. They had several powersets on sale during the last DXP weekend.

It'd be interesting to come up with a list (or wiki page) that listed all the new power sets that have been added since launch, and if they were free or part of a box set/purchasable from the market.

I think what you'd see is that, over a course of seven years or so, you got Dual Blades, and Willpower, and Kheldian and SoA ATs, and probably one or two other things that I'm forgetting. Not counting stuff that you had to buy an expansion for, of course.

Then in the last year we've had a bunch of free power sets and also a bunch of paid ones that you can mostly purchase with your monthly VIP stipend if you want. All in a single year.

I mean, most people know this, but it'd be nice to have a chart or something to point people to when we get silly complaints like this one.

Well you never spoke to me and I would disagree with you.. I feel very much so like a VIP.

You already get a "discount" with your free Paragon Points ...towards power sets.

I have never spent real money to buy points to buy a power set.... Only "pay" sets I do not have are StJ and Nature Affinity (neither interests me).

From the OP's complaint I'm certain he wants to go back to a new power set every 1 - 2 years. Multiple new power sets every 3 -4 months is something he obviously doesn't want.

Thank you also for introducing me to the word callipygian.

This is also my line of thought. You can get a free powerset every 2 months, which is much faster than pre-freedom.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

To answer everyone in regards to what I do with my points ; I save them for power sets, though unfortunately I never have enough to get the said powerd while being tier9 and end up having to purchase points. Also , it's not that I am not grateful for what is being done in regards to the game. I know EXACTLY what I get as VIP trust me I've looked through , but it doesn't feel rewarding one bit at all. Not every power set that is released was performing up to par because people constantly send Arbiter Hawk and Synapse messages in regards to bugs also some that under-perform.

So apparently, getting a powerset every year or so made you feel more important?

So far, we've gotten free powersets faster than we used to get any powersets, period. And VIPs get 400 points a month (minimum), which means we could be buying a new paid powerset every two months.

Sorry to be blunt, but I think you're perspective is way whack.
