  1. Well that's good at least. Thanks for the info!
  2. Dog. Stupid cellphone double-posted. Sorry!
  3. I haven't found an answer among the many goodbye threads . I love this game and would love to see it survive but perhaps more realistically, I want to enjoy it while I still can. Do I have until nov 30 as VIP if I only paid for a month of time in late August?

  5. Thanks for giving me something to hope for. I have little in the way of computer skill but would happily donate some of my discretionary funds if it will help keep the lights on. Paragon wiki has always been there for me and I would love the chance to support you in this.

    To all of you...

Thank you Zwill. Your enthusiasm and effort as community manager kept me interested in a game I likely otherwise would have walked away from. Thanks to everyone else on the team as well. Paragon Studios was a special group that impacted a lot of people. City of Heroes was a great ride and one I won't soon forget.

Dude. Write a book and I will buy it.

Thank you also for introducing me to the word callipygian.

How's that for an amazing sales pitch?! Two neat paragraphs only three short sentences. No extraneous guff or irrelevant details just a simple "this is what it is, this is when you can use it and then an entire paragraph dedicated to telling you what it won't do.

Perfect: No unrealistic raising of user expectation, no unwitting exhortation to rush out and buy the product (because now we know what it won't do, we're going to buy it on impulse, right?) There's no unnecessary hype - or even a waste of space outlining the features and benefits of said travel power cuz... it's a panther stealth power and it turns everything off when you use it... that's all you need to know. EVER!

Brilliant stuff Paragon Marketing. You have finally excelled yourselves! Black Pebble, I salute you! Superlative work that leaves us other professional marketeers dead in your wake.
Nobody wins when you publicly criticize people you don't know.

    1) make the hover function at actual hoverspeed or run speed instead of essentially the speed floor .
    2) provide +stealth instead of +fly
    3) make the hover optional. TP was not impossible to use by any stretch when it did not include the hover. The average COH user likely has a much faster connection than s/he did in 2004 and lag is probably not the problem it used to be. I know it rarely happens to me and I play on high population servers.
    4) make it shorter - less time immobilized would help. It is longer than it needs to be. I realize this is an opinion. Some people are not fast at executing powers.

I see I was unclear. What I should have said is that in a single application, for short-range ground teleportation shield charge and spring attack are better and faster than teleport. I didn't consider anyone would think I was actually proposing they were travel powers of some sort.

Their animations are not only 'slightly shorter' (25% apparently) they do not root you in place after you teleport. These are not insignificant advantages when mobility and flexibility are necessary.

Please don't call my ideas silly. I know this is the internet and all but you know, this is a good, friendly game with a good, friendly community.
  12. The dissenters in this thread seem to be putting forward the argument 'teleport has uses, and therefore should not (can not?) be improved'

I think the point is not that teleport is useful, it's that teleport in this game does not reach the level of fun and general utility that the other travel powers do as a result of a few potentially alterable characteristics:

The forced hover - a band-aid added in years ago to prevent people from falling in dangerous zones that makes you virtually immobile after you teleport (aside from teleporting again). This is a clunky fix that helps teleport for long distance zone travel, sometimes, on lowbies. The cost is not worth it in my mind as it makes teleport considerably less versatile indoors and hampers you when you try to fine tune your navigation.

The long animation time: compare to shield charge or spring attack - powers that teleport faster and better than teleport itself. Standing there, flexing your muscles for two seconds and then appearing somewhere else essentially unable to move is just less than a teleporting superhero should be capable of. At least in my opinion.

I was going to start the same kind of thread. Inspired by he sky raiders and tsoo I was going to make a teleporting brawler. The ridiculous forced, long hover made my toon look ridiculous and feel about as super as a bag of earwigs. The slow animation is pretty terrible as well. I think the hover was a sloppy fix to a non-problem that was introduced and never revised. It is a holdover from a different (and less fun) era.

    Please fix!

  15. I recently finished the incarnate arcs at x8 with my wm/shield toon and I had maybe a few tier one or two incarnate powers. She's aggressively io'd but I didnt even bother for the incarnate softcap. A little bit of strategy and timely use of insps made it just the right level of challenging.

The incarnate softcap is hardly necessary on any toon imo. certainly on trials there are so many buffs that you will often be softcapped with minimal personal defenses and the solo content just isn't hard enough to need it if you pay attention. Plus there's a ton of auto-hit patches in the solo content so capped defense isn't necessarily a guarantee of survival

make your shield toon and love it.
  16. I bought one of the procs because they are better than the in game version. The rest of the set will come as the result of converters and a little patience. I am considering buying several of the procs to stockpile at the lower price.... I am not sure if the shame shame bit is a joke or not but I understand that this is the direction this 8 year old game needs to go in order to stay alive and relevant.
  17. The fact that PVP seemed to come down to who was better at running away and attacking at the same time pretty much killed any interest I had in it. The fights seemed to consist of someone speeding by, attacking once and then jumping out of range in a bizzare figure-8 pattern.

It didn't really fit with my idea of comic book battles.

That said I think the OP has put together some very valid and well-organized points.

I couldn't agree more. I would love an apiarist (?) power set
  19. the pumicites, specifically the Magmite boss with the flaming, volcanic-looking skin. It is so intensely awesome I would just sit, look at my toon and giggle if I could look like that.
  20. Hey, thanks a lot for all the feedback! I have tomorrow off so I will probably decide what to go with then.

With shield tanks is it still possible to cap DDR by stacking active defense? if not do they struggle against significant defense debuffs?

    Flying brawler

I have an itching to play a flying brawler. With SJ or MA are there any limitations on airborne executions of powers? i'd hate to get to level 32 and find the powers only work on the ground. Any experience with which set looks cooler from the air?

    thanks!
  23. I'm interested in your recommendations for my 1st tank in about 7 years. My original toon was ss/inv back in 2004 but I've been mostly playing brutes, scrappers and well, everything else ever since. I really like the new ATios and want to try the new tanker one. I'm also tired of getting beaten down by arachnos at x8.

Survivability and being able to tank for teams at +2 or better are important to me. Having enough damage to run 0/8 solo and kill Ebs on my own (in under 10 min) is important too. I am done with Ss for now so that is off the table. I was thinking about sr/tw, shield/dm or maybe something with ice but I am open to suggestions and would appreciate your recommendations. Inf is plentiful so no restrictions there....

    Thanks!
  24. I won't miss statesman much but i liked Sister Psyche. I hope she isn't really dead.

Manticore seems on his way to becoming a villain/vigilante. I hope he gets more powerful and a new look too.
  25. guess my idea wasn't so good. thanks for the info
