You know, I wouldn't mind Marvel making a Heroes for Hire movie staring Luke Cage and Iron Fist with an eye towards making the Secret Avengers or something.

I loved it. The only nitpick part that I had was when Black Widow was riding the Chitari craft and threw herself into the back of the Chitari driver. She jumped too high when she pulled herself forward. I'm glad Scarlett Johansen was in the film but it did seem like she was the only one in the group who wasn't completely absorbed into the character being played.

I'm a Thor fan, and poor Thor looked like he was playing Superman in this film. He's holding back when fighting Loki to offer him multiple chances, holding back when fighting the Hulk because he's trying to reason Banner out of it, or generally used a punching bag to see how tough everyone else is. It did seem like they could have took at least one of Hulk's hundreds of scenes of brawling goodness and given him a moment of strength - not just "lightning to the face!" But his line about his people acting like "Biljstein" and just causing pointless destruction wouldn't make that sort of thing easy - you can't have him cut loose like Hulk without compromising his growth as a character.

That's the only nitpick I can think of. The movie was amazing, and the characters really represented in a relatable way. Thor's utterly devoted interest in his brother's redemption and concerns for the people of Midgard made a marked contrast with the last film.

"Puny god" was a hilarious line, as was Loki's.. everything. The guy was amazing, and I LOVED his use in this film. He got to ham it up in the first half with serious acting, then goof off in the second half against Hulk and Tony. *click* "..This usually works.." *click* was hilarious.

Cap's "There's only one God, ma'am" was also a great line to sum up his old-style differences from the rest of the group. Evans really bulked up for the film. I was afraid I'd be confusing him with his usual snarky archtype in the Human Torch, but he was exceptional as Captain America.

It was just a really solid film with a lot of energy, heart and fun. And I saw Iron Man, Nick Fury, Captain, Maria Hill, Black Widow, and Lady Thor cosplayers at the 3-D midnight showing, too. Makes me wish I'd worn my decorative winged helmet, just for kicks.

Just can not get enough if this! And yes, nearly everyone in the theater we saw it at laughed and clapped in the aftermath of this sequence.

Also...

After seeing Huk stop the first Assault ship, I was thinking "Damn all that build up and it get's stopped that quickly...". And then the rest come... Damn... But I like Tony's way for stopping one of them. Serious indigestion indeed.

Thank you for the time...

Oh man, how did I not notice this? That's a fantastic easter egg.

Is it just me or was this a really hard PG-13? I'm surprised they got away with a lot of the stuff they got away with.

Just got back from it. It was great. Know how I know it was great? Because the more I think about it, the more I realize how good it was. I'm seeing it at least one more time, though, to catch all the little lines and things that were blazing by so fast.

When the Hulk punched the assault ship some people in my theater stood and cheered.

I wonder when we have time to dissect this more, what Easter eggs we'll find?

The only things I know of are the Dark Matter research was a joint venture with Project Pegasus and the Chou thing.

Something witty and profound

Just you. The one gore scene they could of had, they kept hidden away (Lore taking the eye). Other than that, it was beat em up violence, with enemies that seemed more like robots, with barely any blood shown.

I also don't recall any real cursing, and no sex.

the first thing that really made me was the capt/loki fight...seeing cap fighting against loki was that point on how real it was to finally see the avengers movie!

The only cursing that stood out in my mind was done by Black Widow right in the beginning, but it wasn't in English. When she realized the "big guy" she was being sent to get wasn't Stark, but Banner/Hulk. She looked around the room for a second and said <bleep> moi. which translate into English as "f" word me.

That's true. But the arrow scenes lacked blood. So only Coulson, which isn't much to go hard PG13.

Well, Loki use the q-word during the "interrogation" scene with the Widow.
It's a rather rude slang for female "anatomy".

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Okay just got back from seeing it in 3D with my brother and 2 friends.

GREAT movie!

Joss Whedon has done it again. Only bad thing was that Coulson died but...oh well.

Thought everything was well done.

And YES to this!

There was only 1 or 2 minor parts where Thor and Loki were fighting and I couldn't make out what was happening.

I thought Ruffalo did a great job as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

I did miss the 2nd end credit scene though! Guess I'll have to hopefully see it with my dad tomorrow (err...in 12 hours or so)

Edit:

Oh and at the end Tony did mention "Shawarma" around the corner/block (?).....what was he talking about? I was lost about that....

Did you not stay for the very last scene?

They were eating Shawarma sandwiches. Shawarmas are similar to Gyros.

Actually you're way off. She said in Russian "bozhe moi" which translates directly to "my god".

As for the poster who didn't know the q word it's from olde English which might be why you aren't aware of it.

Finally saw it today with hubby. Loved it loved it loved it.

Ironically, one of my fave scenes is Loki berating Black Widow... for some reason, of EVERYTHING he does in the entire film, THAT struck me as "villainous." Oh sure, as a demigod he can throw around PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER, take over worlds, etc etc etc.

But to reach into a person's soul like that with nothing but your eyes, your voice, and an all-too-knowing understanding of the shadowy depths of the human psyche, and RIP OUT everything that they feel makes them a worthwhile human being...

Never mind it doesn't quite WORK as intended on BW, but it's the thought that counts...

PS - the shawarma scene... what I thought was the funniest part about it was Cap just staring at the table. I couldn't tell if he was trying to figure out the food, or if he was just so damn tired he was falling asleep in his chair.

Shawarmas are awesome! We used to eat them in Iraq when we were out on patrols. Nothing like 15 sammiches for 5 bucks!

Actually, I think her later comment to Hawk pretty much gives away that it worked -completely- as intended. But she has an amazing poker face and got what she wanted. But it's very clear that his words struck her, she's just not one to crumple and cry about it.

You all know why it had to be Coulson, right? He's the only one who has been in 3 other movies and for all of us who have seen them all. We had an emotional investment in him. So he had to die for the emotional impact for the audience and for the heroes to put aside their differences and step up (with Fury's help)
