Sneak Peek at retro SciFi
I
Any way, it all made it seem like males would not even get new faces or beards. That ended up not being the case. That is the reader's digest version. |
I sometimes forget you can miss stuff when you're AWOL for a year. =P
I'm having a conversation, while trying to hear and respect all other opinions. You only care about your own opinion and feel the need to count the amount of follower each opinion gets.

I was referring to an actual post by Zwillinger that said "female exclusives only, everything else unisex". Now, I already accepted that I maybe have misunderstood that post, but 2 new faces don't exactly make a difference. |
When you make a big deal about a supposed fact, and the fact turns out to be not really a fact at all, a person genuinely interested in having a conversation (as opposed to grinding the axe of a pet peeve) would pause and reassess their position.
And conversationally, I give what I get.

When you have a community manager state the official policy, I don't think 2 new faces change anything. Sure, it makes it more clear that male toons will get some faces (and maybe hairstyles) here and there, but I find it highly unlikely that they'll ever get a new costume piece, while the number of unisex costume pieces that are made for the female model only increases.
Edit: After testing the pack in beta, I have to say, Dink makes the best feet. No "stupid feet" issues!
I would advise people not to get their panties in a bunch, but half of you don't get those, so....

If they're short they might go for lifts.
I mean, specifically, the men's shoes, the ones that have similar detailing to the gloves. There is no female option for boots with details like that.
^ Actually, I noticed that, too. So, women astronauts wear heels in space? ._.
I don't know if this is where official feedback for the pack goes, but here's mine after playing with the costume creator this evening: Nice work. Love all three new faces, and one of the men's faces has become my brand new favorite face. The woman's face is beautiful, and love the beauty mark, nice touch.
The astronaut suit looks good as a whole, and I think the pants especially are versatile enough to lend themselves to a variety of costumes. I am not terribly excited about the shoulder accordion arms in the top, as I think it detracts a little from the versatility of the piece.
The one problem I see with this suit is the same issue that plagues a lot of the costume sets - the issue of the gloves not really matching the boots very well. I like it when the boots and the gloves sort of match each other, not just completments each other. I have noticed though that in several of the last sets, Imperial Dynasty, Circle of Thorns and Elemental Order being the two that stick out most in my mind, that they don't really go well together. They complement each other, but they don't really match, and that often, for me, throws me off if I am trying to go for a cohesive look. I wonder if it's not two late to specifically make a matching pair of gloves for Retro Sci-Fi 2 boots, the ones with the rings. This would give me the sense of symmetry I look for.
As for the woman's dress, it looks good. I would like to recommend that someone go back and make a metallic texture for the Retro Sci Fi skirt to match the Metallic Club Dress top (or Retro Sci Fi textures for the top) because the two pieces would work very well together if they shared a texture.
I do wish the bubble helmet was not part of the same set of options as beards and facial hair for the men, because this means my space rangers cannot have facial hair. This is a terrible, terrible place for the helmet. Can you please consider moving it?
And of course, my one final complaint. I see no reason to keep the top/shirt from the men. The men desperately need a V neck top, and put a couple of short sleeves on it and it would make a rocking V neck T-shirt for the boys. Please consider porting this over to the gents. I and (many?) others would be most grateful.

If I were designing this set, the only gender-locked piece would be the skirt.
All models would receive the same gloves and boots* and male/huge would receive a v-neck that matches the top of the female dress and a pair of matching pants using the same texture and with optional rings around the thighs; this would be ported to females, as well.
*As it is right now, there are 2 male-only boots (one matching the spacesuit and another with optional rings - so 3 pieces) and 1 female-only (plain and 2 different ringed versions - so 3 models again).
The male faces are fan-*tastic*. The female one will be, once the silly Normal Mapping gets taken off. We should know by now that Normal Mapping makes faces look horrible, mm'kay?
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.
|
Dink, please prove GG wrong - can we get a glamrock costume set next?
Also, is this the place to leave feedback? Female boots 1, male boots 3, the shiny version of the pants, and the non-rings-version of the skirt all take only one color. Can they be given color mask options (Blend, Cellular, Assassin, etc), seeing as they have no native pattern? The aforementioned boot options also only come in Shiny, with no Standard option like the other parts. Also it saddens me that the Honey hairstyle for women indeed does not quite fit inside the bubble helmet... so close :<

I hope you realise that in this specific context, extreme does not mean "in huge amount" but "approaching the furthest point from the centre". In this case, if you consider equal access to all costumes options for all body types to be the center of balance and complete lack of sexism, there are two extreme points for each sex which dictate exclusive access to certain items based on the sex of the character alone.
Before, both extremes were represented equally and thus a sense of balance was achieved, but now, we're focusing on the female side of the spectrum alone. |
Let's suppose that they introduce a new costume set, and the females receive an awesome badass costume but the males receive something that in your opinion would only look good to a woman.
Would you consider that fair? If it happened for decades, both in real life and in every single fantasy world that exists, and then all of a sudden someone decided to give you your fair share in addition to "that other option you don't like", and there was this much complaining, would you be sympathetic AT ALL to any of the people complaining about that?
You're not winning over any hearts and minds because you refuse to see this from anyone else's point of view. Once you give yourself the opportunity to enlighten yourself, THEN we might consider what you have to say. It's a fair deal, we all had to make it too.
you could have it all

So, ummm, just for the record, can someone tell me if the brain slug will be in this costume pack? Or was it a parody of some sorts?
NCSOFT may take away our servers and beloved dev team, but they can't break our spirit and community. with all your power, NCSOFT, your victory will be bitter-sweet. I, personally will be there to laugh at you when you face-plant into the ground.

2) Have you tried playing with head sliders to make the hairdoo fit? - I have had to adjust my cranium a few times for costumes now.

...Yep, that's done it. Glorious. I would have been been so upset if this hairstyle couldn't have been used with these things; can't have this genre without the bouffant. It still clips a little at the very bottom edge, but that's far less noticeable.
Slightly off-topic, but seeing as the Pocket D metallic dress is so, so much shinier than the old Metallic tights texture (I had to make the top in these costumes a shade lighter than the skirt to get it to even begin to match), might it be possible to make a Metallic texture just like the Metallic tights top and bottom that can be applied to our older skirts (Mini, Pencil, Flared, etc)? As illustrated here it would be amaaaazinnggggggg.
