Quote:We sort of have this already, although it deosn't work well with all colours and the second colour applies to the entire lower half, not just the sides. Here's a pic of my main, Hitback, without his mask:And I'd also throw a vote in for a hairstyle something like Reed Richards, and several other notable male characters, with one main colour, and then another at the sides, so it can be used as a 'salt and pepper' look, or for more mature, aging characters.

Quote:I did read the second part, but I still can't see how one could misread my post to reach the conclusion you reached.I didn't. If you'd bothered to read the second line of my post, it would have been clear to even you that I decided was misreading your post.
Also, "Nah I must be misreading that" implies that you're still reading as a misogynist post, but you try to convinse yourself otherwise, so yeah..
And nice attitude right there, bro. -
Hi, Dink! I'm not going to ask for a new piece. What I actualy want is an additional option for Think Tank and High Collars.
Think Tank - "No Bowl" option under Bowl.
I'm pretty sure you have seen some of the headless toon designs going around, I believe I even saw one in a official Dilemma Diabolique screenshot, so a No Bowl option would be appreciated, since even when covered by an aura, the bowl is still visible under certain lighting.
High Collar - "No Cape" option under Cape.
There used to be a bug in the costume creator that allowed you to achieve this (only in the creator of course, not in-game), but it appears to be fixed. With this option, we would be able to achieve a look like this or this, without the need of an extra costume piece.
Now, if we could also get a tartan pattern for High Collars, that would be awesome. -

Quote:Only male/huge get the bulky flat boots and only females get the ringed gloves. Also, females get another version of ringed boots, with the rings around the ankles. So they gender locked the boots, I thought we were past this already, I guess not.
As for gender-locking in general, no, we are definitely not past it. -
I've heard more swooosh! sounds in this thread than playing 32 levels of Titan Weapons.
When did I ever try to equate retro sci-fi with real astronauts? From the very beginning I was talking about women astronauts, and was referring to the first outfit of this pack, the one that looks very close to an actual space suit and was advertised as such by the devs. I wasn't talking about the retro sci-fi genre, which is covered by the accessories and the second outfit of this pack. If you want to treat them all as one thing, be my guest, but when the pack was first revealed after the Player Summit, the dev who made the thread (I can't find that thread now) said that they were going to make a space suit for everyone and a Ulala-like retro sci-fi dress for women. I was talking about the space suit. So, yeah, just becasue the pack is called that, doesn't mean that the space suit is part of the retro sci-fi genre and its appearance should not be dictated by the tropes of that genre. May I remind you of the Gunslinger pack and the salloon girl outfit?
Anyway, I don't even know why we're discussing this in the first place. Now, for something different; I love these boots:
-
Quote:Well, that certainly comes close. If a woman was wearing heels while also wearing something like that, how would you be able to tell?
Edit: I did find this:
Quote:Kids he's either trolling or just doesn't get it. How about we move on?
Ok, Ulala is an astronaut. Are you happy now? -
Quote:It's a fictional version of a space suit. It's definitely closer to a real space suit that the pictures posted in this thread so far.are you saying the (CoH) image you posted is an actual astronaut suit?
At least, when you see it for the first time, it's more likely to say "that's an astronaut", than seeing this for the first time.
Travelling beyond the atmosphere makes you an astronaut just as much as swimming makes you a sailor. Astronauts are trained professionals. -
Quote:What part of "I'm not talking about retro sci-fi" or "this pack has both retro sci-fi and actual astronaut costume pieces" don't you understand?what part of retro science FICTION do you not understand? you have been given examples of spacewomen in heels, just cause you don't like the answers doesnt make them wrong...
Women are missing a piece from the astronaut costume and the retro sci-fi boots can't replace it.
And no, scadily-clad women with glass bowl on their heads are not astronauts. -
Quote:Give me a link, picture, video, anything that shows a real woman or a fictional character wearing heels while in a suit that looks even close to this:Then you apparently never had your eyes open whenever you watched classic sci-fi. Remember in this context "retro sci-fi" is like the pulp serial stuff from the 30s, 40s and 50s, not anything made in like the last 20 or 30 years.
That's a fictional space suit, since it was designed by Paragon Studios, not NASA. The pictures that were posted, as well as the video do not feauture space suits. So, when I'm talking about astronauts, I'm specifically referring to space suits, not shiny tights and mini skirts. -
Well, tights and dresses definitely don't pass as a space suit.
So, yeah, I'm not talking about Ulala, but women wearing (fictional) space suits. -
Huh? When did I mention real life? Yes, this pack is called retro sci-fi, but half the pieces are part of a space suit.
Even in fiction, I don't think I've seen a woman in a space suit wearing heels. -

Quote:I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I know that the costume pieces males received were considered to be "badass" in general opinion, but are you saying that females were receiving pieces that only looked good on males?Perhaps this can be better illustrated by use of a metaphor.
Let's suppose that they introduce a new costume set, and the females receive an awesome badass costume but the males receive something that in your opinion would only look good to a woman.
No. But, you completely disregard the part of the playerbase that asked for certain pieces to be given to males, too. Females were not getting the short end of the stick; both sexes were getting different sticks, and both sticks were appealing to members of the other sex.
Quote:Would you be sympathetic AT ALL to any of the people complaining about that?
My problem is that in that same thread, it was announced or at least implied that males won't get the same treatment. And as if that wasn't enough, there were a lot of posters that were quick to insult or make fun of or just show no understanding for all of those who requested such treatment. They even made arguments to support that males shouldn't get access to certain pieces. It happened in this thread, too.
Quote:You're not winning over any hearts and minds because you refuse to see this from anyone else's point of view. Once you give yourself the opportunity to enlighten yourself, THEN we might consider what you have to say. It's a fair deal, we all had to make it too.
So, no, I'm not saying you can't have the Baron jacket, I'm saying give us the pointy witch hat. -
SSAs are actually different for heroes and villains, following the same story, but from different perspectives. So, if you enjoyed the first hero SSA, you might want to try the villain version of it, if only for the giggles during the final mission.

Fault costs less end and recharges 10 sec faster, has the same acc and radius and does disorient and kd. At least is animates slower.

The entire Teleportation pool, like most pools, needs work. First of all, there is no reason to pick this pool outside of concept. All other travel power pools offer powers that improve your toon's performance, with Speed offering a semi-staple power and a ridiculously improved version of Stealth, which can even be turned into an invisibility power. That's ridiculous.
Stealth should lose the -speed, all Teleportation powers should get reduced end costs and cast times. I also like the idea of Teleport offering two different powers, the normal version and a combat version.
With the new travel power on its way, unless some changes are made, there won't be a single reason to pick the Teleportation pool. -
I tried to make a toon using the Demonic Axe model (aka Meatscythe) for Titan Weapons and noticed that you can only use one colour for the entire weapon.
I think I remember testing that weapon in the past and you could apply one colour on the meat part and another on the bone parts.
Am I imagining thing? Is this a bug? -
If I were designing this set, the only gender-locked piece would be the skirt.
All models would receive the same gloves and boots* and male/huge would receive a v-neck that matches the top of the female dress and a pair of matching pants using the same texture and with optional rings around the thighs; this would be ported to females, as well.
*As it is right now, there are 2 male-only boots (one matching the spacesuit and another with optional rings - so 3 pieces) and 1 female-only (plain and 2 different ringed versions - so 3 models again). -
^ Actually, I noticed that, too. So, women astronauts wear heels in space? ._.
-
When you have a community manager state the official policy, I don't think 2 new faces change anything. Sure, it makes it more clear that male toons will get some faces (and maybe hairstyles) here and there, but I find it highly unlikely that they'll ever get a new costume piece, while the number of unisex costume pieces that are made for the female model only increases.
Edit: After testing the pack in beta, I have to say, Dink makes the best feet. No "stupid feet" issues! -
Quote:The healer goes to the tanker, not the other way around. You can run and toebomb a healing trap, making it work like Healing Aura. However, you can also lay a few of these healing orbs and only approach them when you're in need of a massive heal.Your Poison Trap idea would be a way to recreate the video but it wouldn't work very well for CoH. I keep seeing tankers completely covered in mobs that can't even move being unable to heal.
So, it's like the opposite of Traps; instead of preparing nasty surprises for your enemies, you leave some tools lying around before starting the fight and only use them when you're in need. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure it is possible to recreate this exact power in CoX mechanically (Ouroboros Portal, Portable Craft table), but it feels like a click-based Heal Other (since the video shows that the Orb disappears after one use). And since Heals in this game are not that important, I'm not sure this is a good idea.Just watched a whole bunch of Tera videos and noticed the Mystic class has an interesting skill I haven't seen in other MMOs.
This wouldn't work the same way in CoH very well but it is similar to some of what I am trying to do with this set. Mystics can actually craft a health orb that stays stationary on the ground that friendlies can run to and hit a button for a nice big boost. Location-based stationary buffs are a concept I really like, that this set would also take advantage of.
Energy orbs, location-based effects
As described, the activation mechanic would be different in CoH - we would prob have to go with pulses - in this title you can hit the F key when near them to collect them. At first I show myself getting damaged, and then show that you cannot stack the effects. I do it again, and use one to show how much healing it does. This is just concept ideas, I don't mean to replicate anything beyond droppable orbs that are location-based.
If you go a different route and use pulses instead, then this is identical to Spirit Tree and Triage Beacon, except with a HoT (Heal over Time) instead of +Regen, which is also mechanically possible as proven by the Corruptor version of Soothing Aura.
I still think you should focus on a more cohesive theme for the set though, as Orbs is as general as you can get, especially when they don't follow a set of rules about what they can or can't do.
Edit: Ooh, a Poison Trap that heals would be a interesting idea. So, you can lay down these traps and when an ally with a certain percentage of health or lower approaches the trap/orb, it explodes with a AoE Heal.
