Discussion: Announcing Issue 21: Media Blitz!
Didn't they already invade? I though they bombed skyway or something.
...It's not their fault if no one ever does that trial.
Nice to see new trials but one thing keeps bugging me:
Why isn't Praetoria retaliating toward us? They have sent strike forces in so that's fine, but so far our Primal Forces have invaded Lambda Sector, the Behavioural Adjustment Facility, Keyes Island and the Undergound, yet nothing is happening on our side. |
Following that setback, Tyrant tried to use mindwashed Resistance prisoners to convince the people of Praetoria that the Resistance and their Primal Earth allies were dangerous terrorists, but we stopped that plan at the BAF - and then followed it up with a major strike against Lambda Sector, the main millitary facility in Praetoria City
That gave us much more freedom to operate inside the city, giving us the chance to take over the Keyes Island Reactors, which not only power the invasion portals and warwork factories, but also power the sonic fences - and with those under out control, the loyalists can't use them to as a weapon against us and the Praetorian people, like they did when they slaughtered most of the citizens in First Ward using the sonic fences there.
We then discovered the secret of Tyrant's deal with the Hamidon, but also found out that it was waking up and planning to wipe out the rest of humanity because it believes that Tyrant has broken the deal - so our next move is to take over the TPN tower and broadcast the truth about Tyrant and the Hamidon to the population, and further weaken the loyalist dictatorship, and possibly start an uprising among the people.
As to the REAL reason I'll be leaving, I'm afraid it is indeed because Tamaki Revolution dc'd on me during a RSF.
Tyrant and the loyalists already made their move in the Admiral Sutter, Apex and Tin Mage TFs, with the final part of the Tin Mage TF being us shutting down their invasion portals.
Following that setback, Tyrant tried to use mindwashed Resistance prisoners to convince the people of Praetoria that the Resistance and their Primal Earth allies were dangerous terrorists, but we stopped that plan at the BAF - and then followed it up with a major strike against Lambda Sector, the main millitary facility in Praetoria City That gave us much more freedom to operate inside the city, giving us the chance to take over the Keyes Island Reactors, which not only power the invasion portals and warwork factories, but also power the sonic fences - and with those under out control, the loyalists can't use them to as a weapon against us and the Praetorian people, like they did when they slaughtered most of the citizens in First Ward using the sonic fences there. The truth is out, how does Tyrant react. How do the people react.
The way I see it, there's two good possibilities.
1. Everyone freaks out and riots so Tyrant turns his IDF on them with lethal intent to put down anyone in the streets and the next trial is us playing both riot cops and defeating desperate IDF and PPD.
2. Mother Mayhem steps in and tries to use the Seer Network to either:
a) Wipe the news broadcast from everyone's memories/rewrite their memories so Hamidon returning is a Primal plot.
OR
b) Forcefully pacify and dominate the minds of everyone in Praetoria at once.
Since the network was not designed for this and her mind cannot possibly handle the feat without the psychic backlash killing everyone, we have to go in and shut her down for good.
.
Well, it should be apparent which Judgement powers I'm hoping for.
A mini-gun one would rock, but someone else mentioned Thunderstorms... that would be awesome too. I'm thinking Psionic-based or Radiation-based Judgements are likely, I certainly hope so.
As for Alpha, Destiny, and Interface having new powers, I've been pondering this since I heard about it from SDCC / PAX, and I must say I find the idea of remixed benefits from the existing trees to be very enticing, since the ones we have now fit perfectly with some of my incarnates but not all. So I've had to settle in the past, I hope that won't be the case Soon (tm).
Oh, and in closing, could Diamegnetic getting fixed be made priority if it isn't already? I'm already mildly steamed to have been waiting for it until now, getting more powers for Interface and finding I still want Diamagnetic on one or two of my toons would be a 'mild' Rib Cracker to the pants...

Okay, I may not do an ad for this one... but the urge to make a Praetoria music video to Muse's "Uprising" is REALLY becoming tempting...

If we're going to continue to get more and more trees added to the Incarnate powers... can you at least make it so we can salvage (IE, break down into shards/threads/components) the incarnate powers we spent so many hours building? Or at the very least... offer a side-grade for them?
I'd like to think the Devs wouldn't want their players to feel like they're wasting their time... or that they're missing out because they already constructed their T4 Alpha before that better option became available.

Please Devs, Please NO MORE NEW CURRENCY... we have Influence, Prestige, Shards, Threads, Astral Merits, Empyrean Merits, Hero Merits, Vanguard Merit, and regular Merits from Stories...
We Do Not Need Another Specialty Salavage/Currency added to the game. Please allow us to use what we have. Yes it means a few people will have skills on Day 1, but you could easily add a badge requirement to the skill as well, meaning they still have to complete the story arc that unlocks it...
Our time spent gathering all this stuff, is being marginalized by you to a degree that is becoming a little, frustrating, when every time you add new content to the Incarnate System you add a new Salvage/Currency requirement. It is hard enough for a small team/solo player to get this stuff, but when we can't use what we have already earned it makes it even worse...
Thanks

Stop making trials.
Fix PVP.
I am intrigued by the idea of new judgements, hopefully a martial arts themed one will be among the choices, i will be interested to see if they give options for various weapon users, and how specific they get. We got a lot of lore options, a similar number of judgements seems unlikely but would be nice. maybe we can get alternate emanation points. given the number of dragon themed characters i have seen , allowing cryonic and pyronic to emanate from the mouth would be very nice. and more trials, good, the more the better.
I didn't read the thread, but the only thing I could come up with for a new Interface power is an end cost drain/end recovery power. What else could there be?
...also, any guesses on what they could add to Alpha?

It's not Paragon's fault - MMO PVP takes very little skill - it really boils down to how little of a life you have to dedicate to a PVP build that determines who wins in MMO PVP, since all you can do is move and try for high rolls on the dice.
...no really, think about it.

So a character can "grow in power" as an Incarnate not just by going up the ranks in a single ability, but also by crafting several abilities from different trees.
Think of having multiple level 50s on a single server. You can't actually log in more than one at a time, but the more of them you have, the more flexibility you have in what you can bring to a high level TF. And you don't feel like you're "wasted your time" or are "missing out" when a new powerset comes out, you just level a new character to 50, and increase your flexibility as a player even further.

Fixed that for ya. Some people don't think grindy, repetitive things are fun. And personally, almost all of the older hero side Task Force content is just that. Grindy. Repetitive. BORING. Which is why after doing each one two or three times stops -me personally- from doing them any more. I'd rather have actual new content. More mission arcs. Revamp the current TF's like they did Posi's. That one's actually fun again.
And don't get me started on bases. I'd PAY MONEY for a base item pack. With stuff in it that's already in the game world and maps. |
For me, the main issue with the Itrials is that there aren't enough of them. Each of the trials in itself isn't grindy, repetitive or boring. It only gets that way if you repeat them ad nauseam, which is why I don't do that. This results in that I only have 2 incarnate characters that I consider finished (one on T4s and one T3s). I'd like to have a couple more, but as you said doing the same thing over and over gets old. The way to fix this is adding more trials, so there's more variety and I can spend an afternoon doing trials, not having to repeat a single one. Which I'm glad the devs are doing.
I'm also glad that the devs have been releasing a whole string of new story arcs and new and revamped zones (or 'actual new content' as you put it.) There's even a new arc guaranteed every month! There hasn't been a single Issue release since this whole Incarnate thing started that didn't also include story arcs or TFs. If you look at the release of GR till now, the amount of new content has been pretty good, and the amount of 'actual new content' far outstrips the amount if Itrials.

Not really excited (or amused), but I wonder what this part is suppose to mean;
But that's not all, you will also be able to unlock brand new abilities for your Alpha, Destiny, Interface and Judgment Incarnate Slots and become even more powerful and ascend even higher on the Incarnate path! |
-existing abilities get higher tiers and branches , like for example Pyronic, Void, Cryonic and Ion get higher tiers to craft
or
-whole new judgement etc. powers? Like the orbital attack laser people have been suggesting and rocket launchers or something?
The real question is where do we go from there.

After that, it boils down to Tyrant appealing to his people. "Look," he says, "I'm an incarnate, the most powerful superhero on the planet. I couldn't stop Hamidon. We have to do things my way or humanity is finished!"
Twenty four incarnate heroes warp in from primal earth.
"So, we hear you got a big monster to beat up?"
OK this is not quite a comment on the incarnate shinies, here, but a conjecture on what the new trial is gonna be. (I didnt see or look for addtional info on the new adversary, sometimes its more fun to guess) Media Blitz at the TPN would be a great opportunity to work in Radio/Television or a Praetorian hybrid of the two. Maybe the Preatorian counterpart is the method the Well of the Furies whispers to the masses, allowing for the hand of the Well, Cole, to focus his attention on his efforts against Primal Earth..
one of my problems with the Itrials is the salvage.I will believe the DEVS when they say after your "qualify" for the drop, It is a random roll.my question is how the roll is adjusted. lets assume a 100 drop table of drop types is used, and the first 50 are common, next 30 are uncommon, and then 15 are rare and then 5 are Very rare. yes we get a random roll in the table and we get our choices. now if the new stuff requires normal salvage and as I have a lot on toons i can not use, making the new stuff should not be a problem but assuming if a new type of salvage is needed, the above example could get adjusted to maybe 4 for VR and 1 for new stuff.
it could take a long time to get the salvage needed.I understand about possible upgrading/sidegrading. but getting a large amount of threads or money could take a while.
and do not forget the flip side of this,if we get great new powers, they will have to "balance" it out somehow.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but when a sovereign nation is attacked in the real world, there is either some heavy diplomacy going on or an invasion in retaliation. I find it extremely hard to believe that Cole is just taking this all in, even with the conceits of a City of Heroes and so on.
