Welcome to the Build Workshop! PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!
So does that mean we have to request make-me-a-build threads in the AT's forum, or this one?
pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats
Arachnos Commander: actually, I am
pohsyb: I mean you kinda were one already anyways ^_^
Arachnos Commander:
Interesting seems kind of like an unneeded extra forum.

Are you kidding me ?
Are you guys that bored that you have nothing else better to do then now tell us after 7 years that we need to post builds up here.
So now a player needs to wade through a sea of unrelated builds just to find something they might be interested in, instead of just going to that particular forum to find the build or ask about the build ?
This is totally ridiculous. Its as if your just making stuff up to justify your existence.
So what are you going to do, move all the previously posted builds out of the corresponding forums and move them here ? Of course not..
So now until this fills up you need to have players search here and the archtype forum to find the build they might be interested in or to see if it has been discussed before ?
Everyone knows you want a mastermind build you go to the MASTERMIND forums, not the blaster forum. And if someone posted a build in the wrong spot they would be told so.
And what happens when someone does not follow this title rule are you going to fix that title or is it just going to be left as is ?
This a totally bad idea.

It could potentially bring Mids' to new players' immediate attention, but beyond that it does seem a bit redundant.

As others have mentioned, if you wanted a build for a Blaster, you go to the Blaster section....so...unless you're nuking all of the AT specific forums/sections then (which I'd be opposed to)...I'd say this is redundant.

I heard a rumor that the forums were going to be changed in some way. I hope this isnt it.

It could very well be that this forum will be set to manual purge only, like Player guides. If so, then I see this as have use.

P.S. I sincerely hope I am wrong about your intentions, but I can think of no other reason for the creation of this entirely redundant forum.
What did people do before when they wanted a character of X variety but didn't know whether it should be a specific archetype?
I actually think the archetypes should be subforums of this forum, with the more general discussion going on in here, or perhaps with completed builds going in the archetype forums. Something like that would clutter up the English message boards page a bit less.
Also, officially, Mids' has the apostrophe after the S. The guy who started it called himself Mids. And maybe we should get a sticky on the Mids' topic so it won't be engulfed in builds!
I try to be positive whenever possible, but this one has me scratching my head.
No I got nothing. Maybe re-purpose this as "Build Workshop & Third Party Tools." So we can support Mids with out directly supporting Mids. We could talk about RedTomax and ParagonWiki here too if desired. But mostly Mids. That's the best I can do.
If the other ATs are going to be collapsed together, it can make this a valuable library location for things that might get lost in the shuffle.

Like, this thread. Or this one.
I read this as 'if they screw up the AT forums like they want to, this section may actually become useful'.
Put me down as yet another person who thinks this forum is not necessary.
"Hi, my name is Ail. I make people sick."
A partial selection from my 50's on Freedom: Ail = Ice/Traps, Luck = Street Justice/Super Reflexes Stalker, Mist = Bane, Pixy = Trick Arrow/Archery, Pure = Gravity/Energy, Smoke = Fire/Fire Dominator
Does this mean that build threads in AT forums will no longer be allowed? I feel that many of those threads turn into discussions of overall AT performance, the pro's and cons of certain slotting/build techniques, and the like.... Not to mention that people who specialize at building certain AT's or sets are able to assist novice players with said AT/sets. To ask us to broadly post builds in one forum will probably make it more difficult for players to get help with their builds from educated posters on the specific subject matter.
I too feel that the months of hard work and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent developing this new sub-forum was unnecessary. The staggering man-hours required to build this new 'Build Workshop' more than likely is beyond imagining and left the development and community relations teams both near death.
For shame!
Right now, we're looking at things from the viewpoint of folks who have been around for a long time, who know the ins and outs of this forum. But what about from the viewpoint of people who have either never been to the forums or are completely new to our Community?
Recently, I've spent time talking to people who were new to the game, and even asking people, where can I find builds (I was incognito of course). Very few folks could point me to one place, the usual response I got was "On the forums...." and when I asked "Yeah, but which forum" the response was almost always "I don't know" or "You have to really dig through the AT and General forums".
You're still more than welcome to cross post builds on the AT specific forums if you like, however we're trying this forum out as a central repository of all builds, regardless of AT.
I believe that if you give it a chance and follow the suggested format we can make this forum a place for folks to naturally gravitate to for builds, specifically. Plus, we can give better visibility to Mids updates here and sticky each update.
Before shooting the idea down, please, help us give more support for builds and the folks who like to share them and help others with theirs. See how it pans out, you may like this format.
Thanks!

I think what one poster said, if the forum manager gets in the mood to cull old posts in the AT threads, then the builds posted here would be less likely to get get the ax if flagged thus.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
I like this idea. I like it a lot.
Sometimes I'm looking for information about AT's, synergies, different ideas people have that help me to think outside the box.
Sometimes, I want to compare my build with what other people have. Like... am I overslotting this? Underslotting?
These things are entirely different. The former is when I'm thinking of rolling something new, and information when I get to new stages during leveling up. The later is build-tweeking, which I do every time a new issue is about to come out, and I have a gazillion free respecs to use up.
I find it depressing to have to wade through pages and pages and pages of stuff to find whatever information I'm looking for, because the builds and the information are all jumbled together.
Player guides give me both things, and I'm a huge fan of player guides, but there aren't guides for all powerset combinations.

I think the general attitude on the forums is that most people don't give builds away, you know? It's one thing if a newer player has a build that they are working on, and would like some assistance making it better, because it shows that they actually thought about the character and put some effort into creating it themselves.
If this is meant to be a technical forum for how to use mids (which seems to be an implication Zwil's post is carrying) I believe that they have their section on the Titan Forums for a reason.
I also really hope that this isn't meant to be a "build index" in the sense that "this is where new players get sent to find a good build--" since there are so many plausible ways to build any character in this game, it would be sort of counterproductive to lead new players to believe that there is any "right" build for any particular power set.
I think that a lot of the reason why no one could tell you where to "find builds" is that the community generally encourages people to put effort into making their own builds, and then offer up advice/suggestions once that initiative is taken. This is why having AT specific forums is nice-- The people who are more accomplished at building certain things gravitate towards those AT's forums and are generally more than willing to give a hand to anyone creating a new character using a set they're familiar with.
This forum has been created to promote player Archetype builds and build related resources.
One of the main tools that is used in order to plan a build is the Mids' Hero Designer. Please note that we cannot officially endorse it as it is a third party application and we have no control over the development of the application itself but we recognize that many players have been using it over the years in order to plan their future character build and we hope you will be able to hear about updates to the Mids' Hero Designer in this new forum as they become available.
To facilitate the sharing of information in this forum, please always use the following format if you intend to post your character build and include a short description of what you have selected that particular build or what you intend to do with it in the post itself:
