I've enjoyed the costume creator in this game a lot, but I know others have been far more into it than I. Post some cool stuff!
And if this one looks odd... that's because it is. I stumbled across a glitch that existed for a short time in Icon many years ago and accidentally created this. Needless to say, he didn't go back to the Tailor

I would suggest those into non-standard WoW clone MMOs check out GW2, it really is different. The thing that originally sold me on the game was a negative review by a WoW fanboy listing everything he hated about it... and I liked everything on the list.

Every mmo I've played has had some kind of 'mids'; I'm sure GW2 will as well eventually. I doubt it does yet given how new it is; give it some time.
GW2 is definitely more graphics intensive than CoH but its been running fine on my system that's a few years old (Vista/i7 950 intel quad core/9 GB ram/GeForce GTX 465). -
Quote:Yes: it goes on their ledger as unpaid then gets turned over to a collection agency and ruins your credit.Any guess what would happen if the credit card charge is disputed, if one is lucky (or unlucky) enough to have just paid it before the announcement so its still in the time window?
Getting your money back through a credit card dispute may be satisfying but it's not a good idea unless the charge is something you genuinely didn't order. Typically it's better to work through the BBB or other avenues. -
Corporations often try stupid tricks like this because some people will take it. A threat to sue may get an actual refund in dollars. Then again, maybe not.

Quote:May I ask where you came by this claim? Several people in other threads have already reported losing VIP status when their subscription ran out.Whatever you were when they shut the store down is what you'll be till the end. If you were VIP on August 31, 2012 when they shut down the store, you'll be VIP until the end. Which we hope doesn't happen.
They are, however, looking into turning VIP on for all. -
Quote:This problem, at least, can be worked around.I would love to be VIP. I hadn't played in a while (stuff happens) and when I came back, my solo SG had base upkeep due. Now I'm stuck possibly never getting back in since I can't go VIP, and only VIPs can pay rent...
There are still a lot of VIP players out there, and you only need one to spare you 5 minutes to be invited to the SG, pay rent, then leave. I found someone willing to help me out in our global channels within just a few minutes.
I would love to be VIP also though. Running through the incarnate content (never did do Magisterium/Hybrid stuff) and the story arcs that I never got to would be a good way to end my time here.
I guess I'm fortunate to be Tier 9 (blew quite a bit of money when Freedom came out, and still have > 6k points left from that) so I still have inventions and all the other goodies at least. Lots of people who behaved more sanely at Freedom release will be stuck in the same boat as HelinCarnate. -
I wish you luck, but I think you will find it quite different (not in a good way). There is also Sony's DC Universe which has vastly better game-mechanic balance than CO or CoH (the designers learned from previous games) but I hated the playstyle engendered by its power/weapon mechanics.

Wow, floored that BaBs is TicToc. I remember playing with you now and then on Justice. And occasionally seeing you yell at people on the Justice global channels for getting too far out of line. :P
This is the only MMO that's ever really held my attention long term (and I've been here off and on since I3). Very sorry to see it go. Thanks to all the Devs and associated people for a great game all these years. -
Quote:After watching the video posted above I have to agree. I don't want to see it changed back to KB only, and the reduced kill speed trade-off means there's plenty of room to balance it as a KD patch... but right now? A patch that's: 100% mitigation, autohit, has no aoe cap and is permable on SO's? No way....Edit: Incidentally, anyone falling in love with this behavior and thinking it will remain unchanged indefinitely is brain dead.
I still wonder how much practical impact it will have though. I mean: solo you can earn xp faster by taking a bit more risk to deal damage faster and teams already stack buffs to godhood and move so fast that a longish recharge patch isn't likely to be game changing. Important enemies in TFs/Trials will have KB protection, so ... we have a clearly broken power that isn't actually going to break much (unless someone figures out an as-yet unanticipated exploit of some kind).
In my opinion the devs should leave it functioning about the same but fix the 'absolute' features (autohit & no aoe cap, specificallly) so that absurd corner cases don't arise later on. -
Quote:No argument on the damage - fire tends to get most of its containment from fire cages, which aren't going to play well with bonfire.I don't exactly agree with this. It's not wrong to say that Bonfire is very, very strong now and probably is more effective than the devs would like. But 'game-breaking' seems a bit much to me.
There are Tanker/Brute/Scrapper combos that can do more damage in more safety than a character using Bonfire. My Fire/Shield Scrapper for instance is still SIGNIFICANTLY stronger in most ways to my Fire/Rad Controller with this proc. The proc narrowed the gap.
To those playing Fire right now, how much practical use is this? I mean, yes, the mitigation is awesome in a vacuum, but if you try to get some contained damage from fire cages you lose most of the mitigation... -
People tend to think of controllers/dominators as two sides of the same coin, but in terms of functional playstyle I've always seen blasters/dominators as a more valid comparison. Without buff/debuff/armor both are limited to damage and active mitigation with each AT having more of one and less of the other.
The problem is not so much a lack of blaster damage as a lack of enough active mitigation to be the flipside of dominators that they should be. That's my answer to this thread's subject: blasters should have more damage and less active mitigation than dominators (but enough to be survivable when combined with their higher damage).
So TL;DR: I agree in general with Arcana and others who want to fix the AT by adding active mitigation (of some kind). -
Quote:Time Stop has 1/3 of the -regen available to /Time.Oooor...one could skip some of those powers like Time Stop, because Dual Pistols comes with a Hold Power in Supressive Shot, Temporal Selection (many do >_>;
, and Distortion Field because I've found I could go an entire TF without using it, and not notice a difference.
There's three clickies gone, and left with buffs, a debuff that's only really useful on tougher targets, and an AOE Debuff! -
So Heal enhancements now say Heal/Absorb. Nothing about this in the patch notes and all I learned in chat was that Shadow Hunter uses it and we don't have it yet? Can anyone provide actual details on this mechanic?

Quote:I can't argue with the premise that an experienced player will make almost any build look pretty good when they play. But, I guarantee you that despite my low post count, I know my way around CoH. I know what domination is supposed to do - that's not the part I don't get. What I don't get is why people build for it - because now that I have it, I'm not in the least bit impressed with it.
It was out of humility that I asked if I was missing something.
As for why I didn't have perma dom in that specific invasion, I did as suggested and went into a mission and found that I did have it. So, my only conclusion is that there was some server lag/latency or packet loss or some technical reason why my dom button didn't appear to be recharged.
So, please don't think you're dealing with a complete moron - I'm only unclear on why when I read about players building their doms they speak of perma-domination like it's as good as perma eclipse, or perma PA or perma Dull Pain. (and it's not even in the same boat as those)
I will confess to taking part in one msr at level 38 during 2xp weekend and then parking the toon for a couple of months until I decided to finish what I started with it. So, perhaps those 2 easy levels distorted my learning curve.
Thanks to the rest of you who answered my questions and shared your views.
Fair enough. I don't think I'd rate it as well as perma eclipse, but definitely as good as perma dp. Nonstop mez protection (which was admittedly more valuble pre-clarion) and most importantly - the ability to aoe mez an entire spawn *including* bosses all the time is invaluable protection (at least for my playstyles). -
That's a good point actually. I've had some lag oddities with my 'shade on iTrials. I'm in nova and turn the toggle off so I'm human, then suddenly the toggle is back on and I'm instantly back in nova (without the animation cast/time). Some kind of client/server lag glitch. -
Not trying to sound like an ****** elitist, but this post is a classic example of why experience > 4 billion builds. All of the questions asked would be answered by actually playing the game a bit to level up.

I trust I'm not the only one who's seen and bugged this? (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...59#post4232759).
Does anyone know if there's ever been a dev comment on it? -
There is a graphic glitch that's been around for years, and I've /bugged, but never posted here. When in Nova form on my WS, sometimes there is a ray of light coming out of the center of my form and heading off in a straight line through walls to somewhere. This appears on instanced maps and open zones. The buffs on my character seem to affect the color/thickness of the line. Clarion in particular seems to make it exceptionally visible. The line is visible to other characters - not just on my client.

Quote:If survival is that good in comparison to damage, enough so that just changing procs a bit will cause this, then something bigger needs to be changed and the problem isn't procs.Yes and no; it will affect both sides of a match equally but if nobody gets any kills it turns it into a slightly more advanced version of tic-tac-toe where everything ends up 0-0 ties. Try watching a Stalker-vs-Stalker arena match sometime.
In that case, it may be "balanced" but it's not competitive.
Edit: Although I can understand why people would object to it. -
I would really like to see another set with a damage aura...
-
I'm not much of a PvPer these days so forgive me if this sounds obtuse; it really is a serious question: PvP is combat against other players who would be equally affected by the proc changes; this would leave the playing field balanced, right?
