  1. I shall salute him as the Klingons would one who is shunned for being cowardly and treacherous. I turn my back on NCSoft, forever.
  2. It's coming close to the end. Sunset turns to twilight. I have loved this game since the beginning when I was so nervous, moreso on teams, than solo. I didn't want to screw it up for the rest of the guys and gals.

The announcement came it seems like last week. I was so sad that night that all I could do was fly around Atlas Park on my first character. Psylenz (FF/psy).

Now, I don't feel acceptance. I only feel denial.

All I want to do is ...play.

    Favorites

    1. My favorite archetype in the game: Defenders. That said an empathy defender is as much like a sonic defender is as a stalker compared to a blaster.

My favorite defender was, and is, my forcefield defender. He mitigates more damage with 95% soft cap defense than any healing set can proactively heal given the proximity, recharge and endurance factors would allow a healer.

    2. My favorite character to play is my Bot/Storm. The KB mitigation and higher damage than my defenders is an amazing thing coupled with one of the most effective debuffing sets in the game.

    3. Peacebringer. I could not bring myself to get my first Peacebringer to level 20. The late twenties are hard for the kheldians, but once you get your aggro/mezz sponge lobster form, it's LIGHTS OUT. Tri-form play is truly breathtaking.
  4. Are your episodes delayed from the States? I think I recall weird dancing on one of the Tuesday detective shows.

ok, alan scott threw me because the mask isn't green, but looking at golden age pics, I am misremembering.

I was hoping the Firestorm guy wasn't an appearance by TV Teen Titan Beast boy, but I haven't collected comics since the newer Teen Titans came out.

Stargirl is the next generation of the Star Spangled Kid from the silver age Justice Society?

I have to admit I don't know who all these heroes are.

I am more silver age myself.
  7. The flight powers are mostly proc mules now. Hover gets Luck of the Gambler +7.5% recharge. Fly: -KB protection, or the winter's gift slow protection is good. I don't slot fly with endurance, but I don't fight while flying, preferring hover's precision. Hover still benefits with a flight enhancement in Swift.

    Plant/Storm

Short and sweet: Freezing Rain needs maximum recharge. Enhancing defense in steamy mist increases your total defense, you and your team by 1.6%. I switched one of the Luck of the Gamblers to the 7.5% recharge (I believe you intended that in the first place), switched the other LotG and one of the Kismet's (not the accuracy bonus) to pure Resistance IOs. You have the base defense of 3.75% and after the change your resistance to heat, cold, and energy (think Rikti, Nemesis, Council, Praetorian Clockwork) at 21%. You still have the same softcap smashing and lethal with a nice boost to the resistances.

I certainly didn't accept the challenge to a pissing contest. I really wanted to calculate and reflect on how much this game means to me in hours.

114 undeleted character over level 10
    36 Fifties
    12812 hours of play time

My fastest to 50 is a Dark/dark controller in 65 hours. I don't AE farm.

    Finally Fifty

Aw, what's the AT and powersets?

Put it this way: if you work a standard 40-hour workweek with two weeks off for vacation every year, that's 2,000 hours a year. All in all, I've been an active subscriber for about 5 years since beta. If I played 40 hours a week for 5 years, that would be 10,000 hours. And there's no freakin' way I've played that many hours. I'm lucky to get 7 or 8 hours a week. I think I've played all of 10 hours in the past two months.
    I accept your challenge
  12. Hello, my first Defender ArticQuark co-founded the all-defender SG on Triumph in the fall of 2004. I have always looked at Repeat Offenders with fondness and a tad of envy. Our crew never blossomed as far as RO but we did get 5 related SGs in a coalition.

Today some players were reminiscing between beating up clockwork on a long Synapse TF (nothing like the record 7 hour ordeal of the long long ago). I brought up the all defender concept as one of the most fun things I had done on City of Heroes. The brute started laughing and talking about no damage and nine hours task forces. Some people supported my/our position. The sad thing was after 8+ years, people are still so ignorant about defenders and teams that don't follow the holy trinity. I shake my head in grief.
  13. CoH never would have outsold WoW.

    CoH was horrendously marketed.

To me it's a superhero game, but you can play a wizard, a troll, a mad scientist, a fairy, a cowboy, a soldier, medieval warrior, a space man, or an alien. The character creator was NOT advertised the way it could have been.
  14. The supersidekicking method that CoH implemented to stave off door sitting and PL shenanigans really broke open how easy teaming should be.
  15. If you really don't want to cross over, chill is the way to go. It does pick up some defense for the mastermind.

Do realize you can go vigilante in 2 days, be evil and get the first arc of Black Scorpion finished even while you start going rogue after a 2 day stint at being evil and then 2 sets of five Rogue missions will cross you back to the blue side. You can do the circle in a week.

The AoE sleep isn't a complete waste like some would tell you. It's really good for unexpected add-ons. Frozen armor is decent, Hoarfrost has benefits, while my opinion is hibernate isn't that great for a mastermind.

Bots/Time I am sure you find to be very sturdy. If you like to grab attention with the mastermind and have the pets react, Time manipulation has the tools for that.
  17. Knives of Artemis drove my mastermind pets completely nuts.

I would rather solo malta than team against them. It was always so surprising to some PuG groups how easy malta are with a forcefielder.
  18. This is an appropriate section to post this. As for playing with people, just jump in both feet with folks on the Virtue server. It has the most survivors. I think you will find it easy to get a group.

    New player

The only speed bump I might see is if your attacks are all psy-based other than lift and boxing, you might have trouble with arachno drones, sky raider jump bots, council hoverbots and robots. I would have to look more into the damage types from mind dom.

I suspect you may have been refunded for subscriptions running after November as well as the most recent points purchased after the cut-off date. I do not doubt you were refunded monies.

    Cold/Ice/Mace

My only quibble here is that snow storm doesn't need that many slots to make it effective. I would sooner slide more slots to the 3 shield powers to increase defense.
  22. I can't imagine the inconvenience of living in Paragon City. You come home in your civvies and the Paragon police are there:

"I'm sorry, I can't let anyone in. Hero X is in there clearing out an office/apartment/warehouse because the Devouring Earth are holding city councilman/lawyers/scientists hostage. We already have enough civilians in there running in circles in a panic, we don't need any more."

The shard is a big place to set up a log cabin if you don't mind eating one-eyed fish from a blood red stream.
  23. Thanks Hit Streak for checking this out for us.
  24. First, NCSoft is saying that they can't get a good enough return on investment for CoH.

Then, they say they can't sell/license it for a negotiated price. To me its obvious, they feel someone else may prove them incompetent, make money AND hurt their current MMO share.

If they sold it then they wouldn't think CoH could return investment, they wouldn't fear CoH makes money or steal market share.

They are AFRAID to sell it and be shown up by a buyer/licensee.
