Quote:Not only the powerset they sold us last week, but the powersets that were coming out soon as well as i24. They let the devs build this content so far as it was even playable on beta. They let us get excited about it, then they fired everyone.Shallow? No. Here's the basic fact:
Someone in that company knew full well they were going to do this, yet had the audacity to sell us a powerset expansion as little as one week before making the announcement. IMO that's illustrates total disregard for their own customers. They say it's "not in their long term interest" to continue the product. Interestingly, it was still in their interest to accept my money. I have no legal standing, obviously, and accept the full risk. But I will never purchase from this company again. It is not in my long term interest to support them.
I knew the game would end eventually, but the way this was handled for the players and the Paragon staff was BS.
Im not boycotting NCsoft because they shut down heroes. Im doing it because they have shown themselves to be an awful company that doesn't deserve to survive. -
Turns out making blasters more survivable DID completely break the game.

Just got one, so there are still some left
Try the last post with codes, 1/2-3/4 of the way down. -
My emp/elec actually had this problem until I quit playing him. I know that isn't exactly a powerful combo, but being unable to solo a mission at -1x1 is just ridiculous.

Get as close to the ED cap for regen as possible with 3 slots.

Quote:I would slot Rise to the challenge, high pain tolerance, and fast healing with 3 pieces of numi or miracle for the +HP. Having the numi and miracle procs as the 3rd in fast healing and health wouldn't hurt either.should i slot the regenerative powers in WP like a /regen? meaning numina's? Any advice would be appreciated.
Aside from that I wouldn't chase any other +HP/regen bonuses, as slotted this way your regen will be pretty awesome. -
Quote:I just checked, it is still on the beta market.I'm still at work so I can't double-check, but on beta you won't see it show up in the list when you go to make a new character until you go into the Paragon Market and buy it.
It's probably not listed under "new" anymore, so I think it's Powers/Powersets(?) and then from there just pick the options until it shows up (I think melee sets?). I guess it's conceivable that they removed it from the market on beta and left the characters who already had it active rather than disabling them, but I don't find that likely.

Quote:I love when someone disregards a whole post because they don't like one sentence in it.I love it when someone discredits themselves out of the gates.
If I have said something false in my previous post, show it. If you have no counterpoint then maybe you should save the snarky comments for yourself. They aren't really giving you any credit either... -
Quote:Ding ding ding we have a winner. The ones posting are more of the min max type, and WANT those end level talks about best performance.
The forums are most useful at figuring out which sets/builds are the best. Ive never seen a thread where someone desires the most average set, and how to slot it for not too much damage. Why would they? People want the powerset they like to perform well, and some people only like the powerset that performs the best.
Think about it this way: people that aren't obsessed with maximum performance choose powersets that they think are cool. No more discussion necessary. They can and do ask for advice on how to slot powers, but those discussions are over quickly.
To answer the OP more clearly, yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to figure out what the average set is and we compared all new sets to that. It just isn't likely because the people interested in numbers are looking at them for a reason. It isn't necessary because people that aren't concerned with min/max don't need to consult the forum before choosing a set. -
Quote:When was the last time that you controlled aggro for your team on a stalker? Scrapper? Why do people making these threads always seem to ignore that in the current game Scrappers and Stalkers are better than both ATs?
Why all the rage over jockeying for last place?
I built a scrapper for tanking just to see if I could do it, and slotted the taunt aura and confront with taunt. I was able to tank nightstar for keep em seperated, but keeping minion aggro even on scanner missions is a challenge. -

Quote:No, plant/psi actually IS that good. In my experience fly trap can't keep up at +4x8 (and I only have <20% def), so you could actually improve the build even more by dumping fly trap for pretty much anything else.I just completed a prototype build for my Plant/Psi Dom, and I'm worried that it's... too good. It's perma-dom, perma-hasten, and softcapped to smash/lethal. By just stacking holds with Strangler, it can get to mag 76 before the first holds start to drop! Drain Psyche is almost perma, and with it fully saturated the Regen is ridiculous - full hp in 12 seconds, gross hp/sec outperforms my WP scrapper with RttC saturated.
I know that Plant and Psi are both some of the most powerful sets for Doms, but aside from the ATO's, procs, and one (unnecessary) Hami O most of the sets are relatively cheap - even the older sets only run about 20-40 mil apiece. I'm sure I'm missing something, I shouldn't be getting this much out of a build without purple sets. Am I missing something important? -
Quote:There is nothing wrong with building the way you want. Some people like to turn the difficulty to +4x8, some people want to do much much less. No big deal.Have at least three WP tanks, three WP brutes, one claws/WP stalker, not heightened senses and loved it that way and had no issues. More than likely I will continue on building more WP in the future in same manner. a manner that works for me. ---->Keywords: ...That Works For Me<----. and my particular playstyle.
If you are playing on a team as a tank, people will expect you to survive and control aggro though. The considerate thing to do would be to let people know you skip your main defensive powers before the team wipes. -
The enhanced version is 5%, and you can split the set with 3 enh in 2 powers for 10%

Quote:To me there is a difference between when someone uses a slang term in a game that everyone understands, and when someone says something completely wrong like "resistance soft cap." One term makes sense and is understandable, one term is not.Yes, currently, when people say cap, it generally safe to assume they mean the soft cap. But have you never seen some one say 'resistance soft cap'. This shows they do not understand the difference between a cap and a soft cap. The only way for clear and concise communication is for people to use terms correctly. As is commonly stated, when you assume, it makes an A.S.S out of U and ME.
Same with people saying 'que' instead of 'queue'. Can most people understand what they are trying to say? Probably. However the word QUEUE is not the same as the word QUE. The word Queue is in the dictionary, and is properly defined, so use it.
If the insistence of using proper words falls out of fashion, then we will all have 'gone to the Americans'. Use of the proper word in the proper place is what keeps us able to communicate succinctly. We might understand what they mean now, however if everyone stops using soft-cap, then no one will understand if they are talking about the real cap or the artificial one, (which is not always 45% mind you).
Really though if someone says they want to cap defense on their /rad controller and you take that to mean hard cap, you will not get them to the hard cap. It just wont happen without a major change to the game. At best you are going to get them to the soft cap and tell them that is all you can do.
The only time the term will cause problems is when someone actually wants to get to the hard cap. Until this thread, I didn't even know that people went for it so I will admit that the difference is slightly more relevant than I originally thought. -
Quote:I agree here. J mentioned in the same sentence that brute taunt is not an aoe, and also that punchvoke is not an aoe. He may have mistyped, but the words that ended up in his post very clearly said that all forms of brute taunt are not aoe.Let me rebuild the quote tree, relinking to the OP and adding highlights:
The part referenced here indicates a gross misunderstanding while attempting to convey false "fact". The power was specifically referred to in the part that was responded to and it was stated that it was NOT an AoE, and the gauntlet effect was mentioned separately as a difference.
I stand by my statements. Would you like to revise yours? -
Quote:Horse cap. The term "soft cap" is well-established in every subforum, and in this forum we have indeed touched on the actual hard cap in discussions, so the difference matters.
There is nothing wrong with saying soft cap. My point is that when OP said "def cap" everyone knew exactly that he meant soft cap. Even the guy with the sig ranting about how he already knows that everyone saying "cap" is talking about the "soft cap." He knows, every time. Everyone always does, because it is the only relevant cap. Sure, you can put together a special team to hit the actual cap, but that is such a rare thing for people to even care about that you would need to specify that you are going for the "hard cap."
If there is a build that can hit the hard cap solo, I am not aware of it. Why would anyone EVER need to clarify that they aren't trying to hit the impossible cap? That is what I call horse caps or something. -
The slang term "def cap" used on this forum means at the limit of effective defense. People aren't going to stop using the simpler term to describe the effective cap when the actual cap is unreachable/unnecessary/rarely discussed. The soft cap is still a cap, and it is the only relevant cap. If you want to use a simple slang term to describe the actual defense cap, you better make up a new one because the word "cap" is already taken

If you go to the main boards.cityofheroes.com page and try to click your way here as a lost noob, you will not make it.
CoH forums>Player Help>Player Guides is where I ended up just by reading forum descriptions. I did not even see a link to this place in there. -
There is no automatic "convert to SO" or anything like that. You have to right-click on each enhancement and choose which SO you want in each slot.

I almost forgot about this thread.
On my permadom, I can have two static field patches out at once. Awesome. -
Did this change? I thought mine didn't stack, but maybe I am thinking of the wrong power. I'll check again when I get home though.

Quote:The idea of disorganizing the forums by having builds clusterf***ed here instead of in the specific AT forums was bad. This page was made specifically for people that do not use the forums. This is a real question. Prior to using the build forum I would post my builds in the specific archetype forum and get replies 80% time, usually multiple within a day. When ipost builds to the build forum I see replies 1/3 of the time, sometimes none, even if the question sits a week. Therefore I conclude either 1) The forum is not working as designed 2) The re are a lot less people visiting the forums or 3) People in general have become much less interested in builds since the build forum started.
As further evidence I see a ton of questions posted in this forum with 0 replies.
Quote:...
Recently, I've spent time talking to people who were new to the game, and even asking people, where can I find builds (I was incognito of course). Very few folks could point me to one place, the usual response I got was "On the forums...." and when I asked "Yeah, but which forum" the response was almost always "I don't know" ...
Anyway, I try to pop in here every once in a while to look for questions on ATs/powersets that I like that have 0 replies, but after a post or two I remember how horrible this particular forum is and go somewhere else.
