So Blasters never got fixed?
And if I read it right, they won't now. No one is left to 'flip the switch' as it were.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
Turns out making blasters more survivable DID completely break the game.
And I was stocking up on Kismet +6% Acc enh's too! Way to ruin my inf-making strategy!
Also, I've been wanting to like blasters for a long time. The planned fixes might have done it.

Such a huge shame too. I've spent some time on beta recently, and the I24 changes were going to make blasters truly awesome. My fire/EM became twice as fun and powerful. I was looking forward to I24 more than I've looked forward to anything in recent memory in CoH.
I was looking forward to the issue 24 changes.
I'ma run around on the beta server with my ice/energy blaster, though.

Four years spent arguing defiance 2.0 wasn't enough and blasters got the short end of the stick. Somehow I just knew it wasn't going to happen.
I specifically bought all the enhancement tray upgrades to move all my stuff over from my Archery/Mental to my Fire/Mental as painlessly as possible. My friend was glad to point out to me today that after all that effort, I'll never get to see my Fire/Mental shine. What a shame.
My sonic/elec rider was PERFECT on beta. The only character I've ever been 100% satisfied with.
Anyone Who wants to argue about my usual foolishness can find me here.

I'll miss you all.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

Um, Blasters don't NEED to be fixed. And we're still going out better, much better, than when we went in.
Much love to all my Blaster kin. We'll go out doing what we do best, standing in the face of ridiculous odds and blasting the hell out of them.

Wow. So many loaded words.

Naysayers be damned, blasters always were fine.
To paraphrase George Orwell, all AT's were fine, but some were more fine than others.
Blaster were about to become a whole lot more "fine" with I24.
Blasters weren't fine. Some blasters were great, some were good, some were okay, but all were limited in ways that other ATs were not. Individuals may have had a great time with their blasters - I know I enjoyed the heck out of my Ice/Energy - but the overall trend was that blasters tended to level slower and get more debt.
I mean, per your example, I played a Kheldian to 39 with hardly any deaths by quantum gunners back when they had unresistable damage. I even tanked a void hunter lieutenant once. Part of this was that I had, at one point, actually memorized where on each map quantums would spawn and they rarely caught me by surprise. But this didn't mean quantum gunners and void hunters weren't a problem for Kheldians or that Kheldians themselves were "fine." It just meant I adapted to the fact that every mission would have kryptonite for me.

On the day the plug gets pulled, I'm going to be playing my non-IO'd, fully-solo'd-to-50 Fire/Nrg blaster. She got from 1-50 solo and only died 4 times.

Why such a large portion of this community become personally offended by buffs to their favored characters and feel the need to advertise it like a vegan at a barbeque is a mystery I don't think I'll ever understand.

Don't get me wrong. I wasn't in love with the changes to blasters the way so many were. Only the change to t3 range and removing the crash from nukes seemed sensible. The regen/recovery power changes looked poorly done and didn't address the fact that mitigation in this game follows a hyperbolic curve and blasters had an incredibly tough time getting to the top of the curve. The snipe changes were just lol all around. Starting with a poor mechanism and then trying to plaster over it by overpowering the ability.
One final time we got something but what ?
Yes, I could take a petless Mastermind from 1-50 solo without dying. That doesn't mean that petless Masterminds are awesome, or that the AT is designed to be played petless.
But hey, it wouldn't be the Blaster forums if there weren't people trotting out meaningless anecdotes to dispute the obvious, which is that Blasters are significantly behind other ATs, balance-wise. The flaws in Blasters' design are self-evident; whether or not you can make them work, or have fun playing them, is irrelevant.
Keep on keeping on, though, guys. Was fun to argue with all of you.
Bummer.
