  1. Champions Online with CoH content would be perfect for me. Champions Online I think personally had CoH 8 year old costume creation system beat.

It was obvious over the years the CO costumes where more modular and could be developed very fast compared to CoH. It just seems like anytime they spoke about costumes ( they meaning CoH ) they made it sound how difficult it was to do something. Again understandable being how old the system was.

But sadly CO lacked any content. You were pigeon holed into Snow or desert then the big city.

The new CoH should go along the lines of what they have now. But introduce a way to choose what you want your powers to come from. You want energy blast from your hands. I want it from my chest, someone else might want it from a wand or a staff. You want your energy blast to be old school. I want mine to wavy lines spiraling out towards the enemy. Thus I could make my a magical Energy Blast and your is standard superhero style.

Then what could be done is introduce new colors and patterns but the powers stay the same.

The fighting should be more fluid as well. I think CO has that as well. You can move and shoot.

PvP should be totally different power sets and affects. Learn what issues CO has with Teleport in PvP and don't run into that problem.
  2. The only thing I can honestly think even after looking at that long list of games is I never heard of them. MANY appear to be what CoH was going to. Which is just buy stuff to play. You want that dungeon you can buy it OR you can farm these items over the next few months to get access to it for a short period of time.

Some of them are out of country, I'm not feeling that honestly. Your really on the short end of the stick if your account is compromised or your CC info is stolen from them. The whole its 5 PM here so its 5 am there means you get no help or C.S.

If I had to make a choice and I did btw.

It is either Champions Online using Boot Camp to install windows XP. I have about 3 or 4 old XP stickers and cds from old windows boxes just for this purpose.

    OR

    WoW for Mac.

I went back to WoW. I had someone send me a resurrection scroll which gave me Cataclysm for free and a free bump up to level 80 for one of my toons. I have a 80 Paladin, 80 Hunter and I bumped up my Warlock to 80.

The other good thing with this new patch is all mounts now account wide. along with those other rewards. So as long as you have the rep you can ride it. As an example my Hunter did the raid where you kill the 4 kings of the opposing side. But now all my toons have access to that mount.

They made it much easier now as well. If you recall that whole specing tree. Well simply it is all GONE. So no points to spend in each power.

As an example you pick Beast mastery with your hunter and you just get these core abilities. Then you pick other certain abilities based on your level. Its like 1 choices per set of levels out of 4 or 5 powers which when your at level 90 is like 5 or 6 powers. End result it is those 5 or 6 powers now that will make you different.

Another example, Hunters no longer need mana or use it. The only thing they need is agility and stamina stat wise. Intel and spirit are of no use to them.

No more bullets for your gun, it just shoots. No more needing melee weapons. You can shoot at melee range. People know before there used to be a area in which you could not shoot or melee with a hunter. In PvP that tended to be an issue and could be slightly be exploited by the other side.

I do not think there are trainers anymore. So when you level, you just level and get your new skills. Which is good as I leveled twice in the middle of the Ocean floor with no trainers in the zone, so leaving and coming back would have been a chore.

Again this is just to give you an idea of where they went or are going.

Champions online has the life time account. I don't know the price honestly but if it is 199 or something it just might be worth to give it a toss and just not worry about paying for it anymore. This way you get the full boat and your done forever. I think they might give you some other stuff as well.

The best thing about Champs online is the costumes. Hands down it beat outs CoH in that department. But it was lacking content when I left. I noticed that they added more over the years of course, but I don't know if it is enough.

I do know you can buy extra character slots for it . So if you go F2P and buy 2 or 4 slots you have 6 toons to mess around with and then I would suggest purchasing extra costume slots. So this way you can have 6 F2P with 3 or 4 costume slots to mess around with. Otherwise it could get boring having 2 toons and 1 costume.

If you were going to go CO then I would just boot camp instead of trying to get your linux on attempting to use crossover wine and asking for help in the forums. I think that will drive you nuts, unless your looking to learn something and have dealt with linux before. End result it will be more work just to have fun then you might have bargained for.

    Anyways Good luck to all

CoH broke up with me first, but I moved out and moved on. Even thought they suspended the accounts I cancelled anyways.

I'm pretty sure they copyrighted everything LONG AGO before you thought there would be no point in it.

NCSoft owns everything including your toons.. I never read the ULA, but I am pretty sure it pretty much say it.

Lets just hope TonyV and someone on the inside can persuade someone. Assuming they are not planning some sort of COH 2.0 that would conflict with this.

    Take care all

All my toons were freedom toons. I was a solo player running 2 solo VG/SG Groups. But I was able to do everything this game offered because of the ability to PuG.

Because of my RL this game allowed me to do things and log off when needed. No needing to wait 2 hours to set up a raid and then 3 or 4 hours to run it as it is or was in WoW. No need to have max dps. No need to have X type of toon. It could be 8 tanks or 8 defenders. It was all good and all doable.

The biggest pain in the *** was the respecs. But I would not complained a bit if I knew this was gonna happen.

I had 8 days off from work and I'm a bit confused on what I want to do now. I know the game will be open for a few months I think or hope. But also part of me wants to just move on.

Anyways who knows.. Its just hard. This was my past time and it was a perfect past time for me. I'm being redundant but the ability to do what you want when you want just fit very well for me.

I loved making odd toons that could solo 4/8 content. To me that is what this was about. What build could I make and what is the highest setting they could handle. It was fun and allowed me to solo and team.

It was cool getting tells from team members when they seen that my X toon build could handle something they didn't expect. And I enjoyed explaining why it could when asked.

I would like to thank Adeon Hawkwood and Static X for teaching me about Defense cap years ago. I would also like to thank Dechs Kaison for keeping that defense guide that was my bible for this religion.

Of course I would also like to say thank you to all the market people who took the time to explain how that stuff worked. Even when I was slow to get it.

Thank you Nethergoat for that retrofitting AR Device thread which gave me ideas over the years to improve and expand on my AR Device.

It kills me that I respeced my AR Device to what I thought was the best build I could ever make for i24 and never see it happen. Every power was slotted with something of value and not wasted. Every single set bonus in the build was useful in obtaining a goal for the build. I just could not have made it better.

My AR Device could solo 4/8 NOW. I only imagined how rock solid it would have been with i24 coming out.

Dam I'm retarded for letting a stupid game affect my emotions. But I can't help it. I'm a grown man with a wife, kids and a home and I'm in tears over a god dam game. In my 22+ years as a cop on the east coast in a big city I have seen so many crazy things that HAVEN'T made me cry. But this ****** retarded game does.. I honestly don't get it sometimes..

Started playing Online games when Ultima Online back in 1997, which was my first kick into online gaming. I played with a RP group called Shadowclan for years. It was a very successful RP group back in those days, it still is today but nothing compared to those beginning years. It was fun roleplaying a Orc. Players thought we were paid by the company. Players would bring Newer players over to the fort just to show them. We were required to be able to have the hide ability and some of us could stealth. It was fun when a new player was brought over and there first reaction was "No one is here". Then we would stealth in around him / her and appear. I could only imagine their reaction on the other side of the screen. It was fun protecting the fort from other players. Joining Shadowclan forced you to learn how to PvP fast. Some people hated that we would roleplay.

Since then I've played EQ, WoW, DAOC, Warhammer, Champ online and of course City of Heroes. I've joined shadowclan anytime I could when playing these games.

Anyways I've calmed down this was good venting and let me get stuff off my chest.

Good luck to everyone.. It was fun while it lasted.

I honestly don't have a clue what your talking about. Not that it matters much at this point.

But being much of a solo'er beyond Incarnate stuff or responding to people LFM I really never commented in the chat channels.

Unless you meant Forum instead of servers..

If that is what you meant , Well yea.. It doesn't matter at this time does it. I know people have asked me over the years what my toons were. But I always kept it a secret as I didn't want my forum persona and my ingame persona to conflict.
  7. I would like to say Thank you to the Mids Devs.

Without you guys I could never, never, never make the toons I did. It was an awesome piece of software...

I can only express love for you guys.

It just really opened a new level of gaming for me.

The great thing is now you guys can get some long needed rest.

    Thanks again..

    I am crying.

In all honesty, this game curbed my WoW Addiction.

In WoW I would log on and spend the first few hours crafting and moving market items around and then shuffling through assorted Bank toons and mail boxes. Then I would actually play a toon and figure out what I needed to do and what gear I needed to get to get this specific toon an extra point of DPS.

End result I didn't want OT at work and would rush to come home just to play. I would take days off just to play especially when I just spent all night playing. Work was my 2nd interest. Granted my job has a union and I have 5 weeks of vacation to work with plus a few extra days, but those days went fast during those times.

This was a game I could solo and log off when I wanted, with no commitment to people when I didn't want to have any. I didn't need 5 crafting and bank toons and all the other silliness.

I have to say I'm a bit of a wuss atm, as I am choked up myself.

I'm a bit pissed at NCSoft as well and I have to say I hope GW2 crashes and burns on principal.

    Take care all

I think that is a mistake because even if you think it is a keeper you still might not be able to do much with the build. EG Necro Poison and Ninja TA come to mind. They are decent sets and can probably do 2/4 or 0/6 if your okay with that. But your not going to be a Traps or Dark Mastermind player for sure.

Again if your cool with that then it's all good.

Personally I create the build and then determine if I am okay with the limitations before I spend my time even creating the costume. My Demon Pain was such a build. I could see that 2/8 might be the max and I was fine with that. Incarnates allow me to do 4/8 but normally I don't count them for build consideration. Alpha is the only one because of what I mentioned previously.
  18. Having several Traps Corruptors and Defenders. I can tell you that with Corruptors you will need something like Power Sink because for Corruptors Traps is very endurance heavy.

You can obtain positional defense cap with both which is good, with Defenders it is much easier because of the bonuses they get to buffs and debuffs. Though Corruptors do more damage it is not much and solo on a Defender you get that 30% bonus.

Personally I feel the AR Defender runs much smoother then the Corruptor because of the endurance situation. Further with the Defender you have more wiggle room to pick other powers after your defense capped. With The Corruptor your sort of pigeon holed into picking certain powers to obtain the defense cap.
  19. The OP power sets are Robots, Thugs, Demons and Ninja for melee , Traps, Time and Dark.

Robot Traps is OP only because you can defense cap without need of a debuff on the mobs either through darkest night or time juncture and far sight. But Dark and Time are no slouches.

Your should consider Tankermind build where you provoke the mobs onto you relying on your defenses and have your pets hit them from behind or the side. Again Robots are nice because they are out of melee range so your pets can survive a AV PBAOE hits.
  20. You can never anticipate when a heal will be needed. Your basically patching up the virtual holes in the dam with heals. So your basically playing catch up and you will never be able to heal fast enough or have a heal up when you need it.

End result is the only way to have this any way successful will be to constantly over heal your pets because they vary so much in level.

I also think you need to post a Mids build for these Ninja Time because one forum goer here was using robot time and TPing into melee range against enemies with ranged pets and was successful. I can't image how melee centric pets could not achieve the same results.

But either way regardless a Mids build will always help give people a better idea of what your considering.

Course the OP might enjoy that, and I may be totally off base here. *Shrugs*
No toe stepping here so no worries.

I looked at what the OP has been posting before responding back. Now this is not an attack on the OP. I see the OP is familiar with Min Max builds or at least can copy another persons build. Again I'm not accusing the OP at all of copying a build. I just don't honestly know how much the OP knows. Some of his posts he is asking about some builds or starting threads about discussing a build or power set but no builds are being posted in some.

As an example if I had trouble with a set I would post a build and say this is my issue how do I fix it. Then at least someone can say "Oh, I see why your build is screwed up. You messed this up on the build"

So after explaining myself so I start no fights for no reason. Here is my point and it is a bit cerebral but simple.

He mentions he had a storm and a time but he doesn't really say they are 50, he says they are high levels. I don't know what the OP thinks is high levels. If we are going to get technical the mid level would be 25ish range and then probably anything from 35 to 38 and higher might be consider high levels.

I don't know how many toons he has.

Does he care if they are IOed or Incarnated.

So if his issue is I don't know what I would like, well I don't think anyone else would know either because who knows what the OP likes, but the OP himself. Don't get me wrong I agree that Robot FF is boring I have one that was mainly for Base Raids. But on the other hand a Demon Storm is very much the opposite of boring. Storm is pretty cool, with enough recharge you can get up 2 Lighting Storms up if you pick up burnout you can have 3. With DS Storm you can also leverage burnout to have 2 Hell on Earth out at the same time as well. Range defense cap with mid level AOE and Melee and then leverage Hurricanes debuff to cap those 2 defenses out. Now this is coming from a player that has 2 petless masterminds, granted I work the numbers before I make a build I make sure the build is doable and I rely on past experiences with build to see how doable some builds might be. As an example I know for a fact that Storm concept would work because I have that build on a defender that can solo 4/8 very easily.

If the issue is the OP does not know what he likes then he can just try every set until he finds out what he likes. If the problem is fun then as I said no one here is gonna be able to answer that.

I don't think the OP might know enough about making a Mids build to tackle a mastermind build. So this is why I feel he ran into those issues he mentioned.

Again just take the time to think about it.

    Quote:
Is there anything I should be aware of for this particular combination?
Look Nature is what 2 weeks old and Mids isn't the end all be all, it does have it's issue. BUT I have to be completely clear and honest. I could NEVER, NEVER, NEVER make a petless mastermind that can solo 4/8 without it. I risked my time and effort on a piece of software that tells me this build was doable. So I have to say I will rely on it when it comes to info and math on Nature.

I also have a bit of an issue when someone has a concept for a build but not a build. It seems as if the concept came first without any thought of the numbers and coming from someone who discusses defense builds I have a bit of an issue with it.

So with that said I think there is not much that will not be found by making a Mids build with Necro Nature along with the OPs past experience with Mids and other toons he has created.

So end result we have 3 choices.

    1. Determining what power sets the OP likes.

    2. Build issues

    3. You know masterminds just isn't for everyone. Just like Kheldians isn't for everyone.

    1 and 3 is a personal issue.

2 Post a build and a goal and lets see what can be done.
  22. I think your problem is that EVERY BUILD starts with Mids and you don't see it.

I think if a build is going to be doable you need to see if the math adds up and if it doesn't then you need to see that and figure out what your going to do to shore up it short comings. Incarnates are nice but at most I would only rely on Alpha because it is something that you can unlock immediately and slot up without ever doing a incarnate mission by sending over stuff from other incarnate toons.

When Cardiac came out it was something that saved my AR Device and made it playable and allowing me to keep my range defense cap. The game has changed since then and so has my AR Device for the better. Today I think I have a toon that pretty much has every power slotted to be useful and offer needed set bonuses.

I also think you should go with a main line mastermind builds before trying something like Necro Nature.

Personally, I think Necro is one of the weakest of the melee pets and overall melee pets are weak compared to other pets like Robots, Demons, Thugs.

I have not speced out a Nature build so I'm not sure what it offers set bonus wise. But I am thinking that you can never react fast enough with the heals to keep your pets alive, especially during big fights with EBs and AVs.

I have 1 petless mastermind and I am working on a 2nd which is at lvl 44 atm. Before them I created a Robot traps, Robot FF, Demon Pain, Thugs Dark. The point I'm getting at is, I willingly decide to "Gimp" myself because I do the math. I know the builds can work out. I know they are defense capped or have something going for them.

I don't know if your doing anything like that. So I sense your playing by feel. You notice your running low on endurance so you slot more stamina. If you feel you have stamina slotted up too much then you will start putting enhancement reducers in powers. Unfortunately there just comes a point where your too beat up and worn out trying to balance the build to be fun anymore so it goes in the bit bucket.

You want to try necro nature then create a build and post it. Don't understand the math or game mechanics then read up the links in my signature until you do.

Robot Traps is one of the best combos. You keep the pets out of melee range and taunt the mobs to you. You have enough debuffs and buffs to defense cap yourself and almost your pets. Triage beacon will can offer you about 250% added onto your 300% from set bonus and with enough recharge you can have 2 triage beacons out putting your regen at 800% range. That is 500% for your pets. Poison traps with lockdown proc is a great way to shut down a bunch of mobs.

Of course Robot Dark is comparable to Traps, I just favor Traps.
  23. I can see what your saying, so there would have to be some sort of limitation either by rarity of the set then maybe. Purple sets would be limited to 1 or 2, Orange cons to 2 or 3 and Yellow to 3 or 4, I think there is white also right. White maybe could be unlimited.

Or just limit the transplant to 2 or 3 sets period no purples. It gives you at least a bit more room for uniqueness.
  24. Okay here is the idea.

Basically you have a bunch of IOs from a SINGLE set in column A which is your Donor set and you have the Recipient set in column B. Basically like converts you could then use a converter or converter tokens to transfer the set bonuses from A to B. So you could now have the set bonuses from a Defense set in a Ranged set or vice versa. What could be used as a guide for this would be the current IO sets that are allowed in a power. So for example in DP I can choose ranged damage or slow. But Range damage set would put me over the rule of 5 for set bonuses, but the slow set bonuses would not and would benefit my build in obtaining range defense cap.

It could be 1 IO or a full set. I'm a bit torn about allowing special IOs being allowed to transfer. EG LOTG +recharge into a Accuracy/Damage range IO.

What is the purpose of this ?

My intention with this is to have some way for players with exactly the same Arch Type and Power sets a way to be different but still obtain the same goals.

Example, I want to have my AR Device to be a Range defense capped blaster and so do you. At the end of the day when both builds are complete at most we might have 2 or 3 powers that are different. Out of 24 power choices 22 to 21 will be exactly the same.

Another simple example is pretty much shown in a thread currently up on defender forums regarding DP Time build. Basically players are posting up similar builds, though the players are unknown to each other. It is not because one is copying from another. It is because for what is trying to be obtained your pretty much limited in your choices.

The reality is there is not much diversity if your looking to create a specific build with something in mind. Granted anyone who is not a min max player would have no clue regardless so none of this has any bearing on their play style. But if your just looking to leverage even 1 defense or resistance your stuck into this tunnel of similar powers. This issue even transcends power sets. Meaning you could go across the whole blaster arch type and find that if your looking for range cap many power sets will incorporate the same powers and inventions to obtain this goal.

Over the years it just starts to become apparent if your looking to obtain X you need these certain powers or IO set bonuses. So you need to pick powers that will allow you to slot these IOs. Sometimes those choices are not best and can result in a gimpy build. The other choice is trying to find a way obtain that very expensive IO. For some I have to say that goal sometimes is nearly impossible for many different reasons.

At the end this game does have check and balances to prevent over indulgence. So rule of 5 will kick in eventually, ED caps are in place. If someone wants to slot 8 +endurance IOs that have been transplanted in a build by all means be my guest. It not going to help you kill anything faster or do more DPS so I see no harm or foul in that. But again certain sets or IOs could be removed from this option as well.
