I don't disagree, yet there is a difference (at least to me) between looking at build info in Mids versus actually playing it.
I expect it is more that you didn't express that in the way you wanted to.

Doesn't tell me that you would prefer a way to test play the set. And has anyone tested to see if you can test it on the test server?

I read like 100 of these posts, and it feels like one big thing is missing.

As OP stated, "Also, also Walmart has a no questions refund policy and I do believe they are the biggest retailer worldwide, best buy however sometimes hassles customers, sometimes not. Not nearly as succesful."

Have you tried to return a computer game or CD? They won't take them and give you a refund. It's intellectual property, and once you bought it, you own it. They'll replace them if they're scratched or broken, but if you broke the seal, you own it. People bought CDs for years without hearing more than 1 track off the disc. They didn't get refunds.

Paragon owes no refunds on you purchasing video game content. Sorry, but like just about all other media, once you buy it, you bought it. Period.

I am fully in favor of there being an obvious but unobtrusive way of getting the Real Number on any powerset baked into the character creator.

That being said, that does not solve the problem of people wanting refunds for a powerset they feel underperforms in the field.

NOTHING WILL.

Not Real Numbers, not grace periods, not Test, not Beta. A person's mind can change about the feel of a powerset at any time and for any or no reason.

Sure, it would be nice for NCSoft to have some policy other than "All Sales are Final". Maybe if it can also be shown to be financially practical by an actual bean counter, they will.

Until then, farewell, Shubbie thread. It was entertaining.

Yes, I can see that in looking back at my original post. I have tried to clarify in follow up responses.

I haven't looked to see if Street Justice is available to all on Test myself.

Except it isn't terrible. It was critiqued by the Op as mediocre. Are you suggesting the Op should tell customer service it is terrible in order to garner sympathy in hopes of a refund? That sounds kind of dishonest.

So where do I go to claim compensation for picking primary sets like Grav, Force Field and Assault Rifle (with Devices) instead of Illusion, Radiation or Fire?

(I would have said Trick Arrow, but no one takes Trick Arrow.)

If someone were to say "I can't see the numbers for SJ nor do I have a way to preview the powerset before buying it, so without that information I can't make an informed decision and thus can't buy the set" I would say that person has a valid objection. To a point, granting such players more information would be a good idea.

However, someone that says "I can't see the numbers for SJ nor do I have a way to preview the powerset before buying it, so I'm going to buy it and if I don't like it I'm going to demand a refund" I would say does not have a valid complaint.

it makes perfect sense some of us are not made of money hell I barely make enough money to pay my bills i only was able to get VIP because i saved tax return money to pay for a year. I'm saying i can't afford to pay for points for the paragon store and 400 points a month is a joke with the prices of the items on the paragon store.

And? You can't afford to buy everything in Target or Walmart, either. How is this a problem?

On unemployment, only a VIP right now because of my 14 month sub. (I did buy $15 in points last week because I was supposed to start a job this week, but now it may be another week or two before it starts. Wish I had that $15 now.) I can't afford StJ right now, and won't be able to until the end of October when I get my next VIP allotment.

Of course, they will be releasing other things that I want and won't be able to afford until I can get some income. Such is life. It is a game and I have fun playing it. When I can afford more, I will get more, same as other things I like to do and can't right now.

BTW, I am not missing a single thing that was given to me as a subscriber before I21 hit.

The chipmunk scene from the commercials was the best part. And even that ended up sucking when you see how long it went on.
Can't be as bad as Major League. Best line in the entire movie, was only in the trailer.

I'm not sure it does make perfect sense, since we had to establish in another thread we're all made of meat in this dimension.

I thought we were all made of Soylent Green.

Ah, you see, that is a common mistake. No, in fact, Soylent Green is all made out of us. Easy to miss, not a problem.

Then we eat the Soylent Green, and you are what you eat, thus completing the cycle.

So eating it in paste form makes it a viscous cycle?

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I never said that. My point was, all the information and testing in the world is not going to help someone who knows nothing whatsoever about how things in the game are supposed to work.

A set could be horribly broken and none of the powers work how they're supposed to, but a person who has never played the game before would have very little knowledge that would tell them something isn't right about it.

To use my car analogy again, it's like letting someone test drive a car who has never driven before. Sure, they can get a feel for the car, but never having driven before they wouldn't know if the car drives good or bad compared to other cars.

If I remember correctly, the test and beta servers were mentioned to having one keyword attached to them:

Temporary

Sure it may have meant the fact that any characters you make or transfer to them can be wiped off anytime the devs see fit. But I also deem this to be correct on when a new feature or powerset is being tested. The devs are not obligated to keep whatever numbers used in beta sets when they finally go live.

It would be nice if you could see the real numbers before purchasing yeah, but expecting them to be completely the same as beta is fallacious.

Ok.

How long does a corperation have to last until you consider it a success?

Let me put it to you this way - if you had owned (let's say) 1% of that failed company throughout it's history, would have made a little money? Maybe gigantic boatloads of money?

People who can guide an MMO through 7 (presumably) profitable years are actually pretty good at what they do. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest they are better at it then random people off of the street, and better at it than the vast majority of people on their forums. They're certainly better at it than I would have been.
I'll let you decide if they have been better at it than you would have been.

(Please note my point does not suggest any group 'knows everything possible' about business. But, y'know, that straw man looks like he's still got some fight in him - better knock him down again, for good measure.)

While this is neither here nor there as it pertains to the thread, Chrysler's troubles did not begin unitl its take over by Diamler who thourghly ***** its cash reserves. Which Diamler used to pay out fat bonuses and develop the Smart Car. Then did an excellent job of mismanaging the brand as well as letting it collect dust. Then having all but ruined Chrysler, Diamler sold what was left to Cereberus Capital Management who proved even more inept at managing Chrysler. Diamler and Cereberus both managed to take what was once arguably the most successful american automobile company at the time and turn it into a steaming pile of crap allowing Fiat to pick over what was left.

So, with the threads about the top end damage StJ puts out, and the discussions of not extending the range of the AoEs for fear of nerfing the nice damage of those powers, and all the fanboi love for the animations and just plain fun of the set....

This thread is still going, too?
