Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
Well, all I'm going to say is I'll find out on the 13th (or 14th, depending on if the servers are playable on the 13th) whether or not I'm going to resub for a full year.
I know the Freedom beta forums said there were going to be final adjustments to the pricing scheme, but until I see what the final Paragon Market prices are, I won't commit to more than month to month right now.
For those who didn't go to those forums, the reason I say this is because, currently, VIP members, although the rewards sound nice, get shafted. 400 points + 1 transfer token + 1 reward token + 1 signature arc sounds great, but, when you look at the pricing, 400 points is barely worth anything on the market. Meanwhile, if you spent $15 a month buying points, you get 1200 points + 1 reward token. So you'll have to pay for some things VIPs get free, but that's a one time purchase and you're done.
1 transfer token and 1 signature arc per month are pointless. How many toons are you going to transfer? Most people I talk to are quite happy with where their toons are and have no intention of transferring elsewhere. 1 signature story arc would matter if there's a new arc every month, but there's no way that's going to be the case.
Under the last known pricing scheme, people who pay to be VIPs are at a significant disadvantage to people who buy their points every month.
Partial Character List:
LENINA 198-DELTA - 50+3 DP/Kin Corruptor (Main) / Captiosus - 50+3 Energy/Energy Blaster
Highlands.Hellraiser - 50+1 DS/Fire Tanker / SpazRat - 50 Claw/SR Stalker
Col. Gregor Aktaybr - 45 Robots/Time MM
So you'll have to pay for some things VIPs get free, but that's a one time purchase and you're done.

Some things aren't purchaseable at all: All Incarnate content, including currently slotted powers, is available only to VIPs. Tier 9 VIP rewards are only available to VIPs.

VIP status also gives you access to things you can't buy: Incarnates.
Additionally, it's a monthly 'license' purchase for Premiums to get IO access, Market access, and AE access (and rewards) until certain points in the Paragon Rewards shrubbery.
VIPs also get an upgrade to 550 points per month somewhere in, IIRC, tier 8.
VIP also includes 6 ATs unlocked, $15 apiece (that's six months of sub time), four of which never get unlocked by the Shrub. All the Going Rogue content (including 4 powersets) which I haven't even bothered to total in points (but it's a lot). Access to some new powersets for free (Time Manipulation for now). Access to all the new First Ward content for free. Access to two of the new costume sets for free. Access to the VIP tier of the Shrub. There's a lot to the subscription that you aren't counting here, and this is by no means an exhaustive list.
By the way, the rewards for completing those sig. arcs are sick.

I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30)) Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.
Thanks for the announcement, but I do have a question.
And if that wasn't enough, all our VIP players will receive:

I'm assuming that the launch of Freedom includes the bit that allows us to select Epic/Patron pools at level 35, and I would definitely like to respec my characters to take advantage of that. But I can't do that until after the patch, so I'm hoping you won't be handing out the new freespecs until several days later.

Pretty excited that I randomly decided to take a vacation (starting on 9/12) to basically sit around the house and do nothing for 8 days.

Yeah, this is very exciting...unless you are a Mac based player!
Just so you all know, based on what's currently on the beta server, the game is pretty much useless for a Mac user at this point. In the Paragon Store half the type is missing or unreadable, prolonged use of the Paragon Store crashes the game for many if not all of us (that couldn't really be tested very well during beta as for most of the time we could not access the store at all) and lastly the NCSoft launcher will not start the game again after you use the Paragon Store, unless you dig deep into the guts of your folder system and throw out your COH Beta Preferences folder (yes, that also resets all you finely tuned graphics options to the default).
Over in the Mac forums (a friendly place that few ever visit) we were assured by Zwillinger that Freedom would not launch with this issue in place. This imminent release date puts that assurance in doubt.
I know that this probably does not matter to most of you at this point (and frankly I'd be thrilled too if it weren't for this problem), but I just want you to be aware that this announcement is not all sunshine for some of us.
And yes, there are still 4 days left to pleasantly surprise us with a fix, but as of now, based on a post by Zwillinger (who kindly has kept us in the loop), there is no solution in place yet.

Unless I'm mistaken, it shouldn't make a difference.
Let's say September 14th is your two year anniversary of playing the game. In that case, on the 13th, you'll get: ~7 tokens in compensation for vet rewards. ~1 token for your 1 year anniversary. Then, the next day, you'll get: ~1 token as your monthly bonus. ~1 token as your yearly bonus. So you'll have 10 total. Let's move the anniversary back to the 12th. You'll get: ~8 tokens in compensation for vet rewards. ~2 tokens for your 2 years of bonuses. And still have 10 total. |

Yep, and that other person who has Jury duty that day as well.
VENGEANCE SHALL BE YOURS! |
I must confess I was sort of down in the mouth when I saw the Head Start date is the 13th, but then I read this, and I dissolved into gales of laughter
I wrote that post when I was not in the best of moods and I think I wanted to vent my frustration of everything good happening when I am at work and when I am off there seems to be long maintenance periods...and I was also off my feed about Double XP weekend.
I do hope nobody thinks I would really act that way....tempting, but I am a horrible Care Bear and even though I might at times resent being at Duty Duty on my precious days off, and, especially when Head Start is being released, I do realize that serving on a jury is an honor and it is a way to make a difference in someone's life..Whether it be helping prove them innocent, or..well..if they are guilty throwing them into the Hoosegow might be the push they need to change their life.
And, once again I miss the good stuff, the opening kickoff so to speak...I am indeed cursed
But, Jury Duty is indeed a higher calling, so I guess I am semi-cursed
