Quote:You mean like [13 year old SPOILER here] "Fight Club" ?You know what I'd love to see? A no-holds barred, manipulation war between Radio and Television...unless of course, they are actually the same person/entity... >.> .... <.< .... >.> ... which would make the whole fight even more interesting when it was discovered.
The mind boggles with possibilities. . .
"The First Rule of Monkey Fight Club is . . . Thou Shall Not Waste Bananas."
"The First Rule of Arachnos is . . . We don't step on spiders."
"The First Rule of Malta is . . . We don't play nice."
"The First Rule of Bite Club [Mako vs. Barracuda] is . . . No shirts, no shoes." -
What, I no longer have to memorize my icon placement or hover over them for a few seconds (bottom trays only) to identify? I can just LOOK?
*waits to +1 "The 'I'm an Icon. Guess what _I_ do?' mini-game is nerfed." -

To me, it looked like a classic sci-fi novel cover from the 60's.
I can kinda see the "Prometheus" link. That movie looks like they were deliberately going for a retro look. -

(Admit it, you just hate the Silver Age.)
Quote:Those are leprechauns? I don't think we know the same folklore. Or watch the same grade z horror films. Or see the same advertisements every St. Patrick's Day.
The superhero genre can accommodate anything and everything (even though I can't think of a single leprechaun hero or villain, either) but there's no such thing as a comic book universe where all the heroes have access to and any utilize a companion leprechaun. -
Quote:I remember seeing lots o' outrage about super packs when they came out. I must have missed the memo when they suddenly became popular. I bought superpacks when they first came out, but have no intention of EVER buying them again. So count this as a vote against putting T9 rewards in super packs. That wouldn't be rewarding loyalty, just $$$ spent.Put it in the super packs. . . At least with super packs, its still random chance meaning it takes at least a little effort or dedication(because of the risk involved for your money vs just selecting it in the market).
Quote:Ideally, IMO, there would be some in game achivement needed to unlock it, like special mission arcs with a particular badge, at which point it would get unlocked in game at the tailor. But this method removes the potential for real money transaction so I just dont see it happening. -
Quote:Well, if you're halfway through Tier 8, in six months you'll have at least one Tier 9 token to purchase stuff like this with.Hey look another awesome costume set I'll never have access to. Great work, CoX!
I get your point, though. NCSoft is trying to balance "attracting new customers" with its features and "rewarding longtime supporters." Unfortunately, there's no way to accomplish both without some kind of "gate." Giving it all away to new players can be needlessly overwhelming. It also encourages vets to un-subscribe and just purchase things "ala carte."
I totally understand a new player who feels that they should have access to all the cool stuff naow and to reserve just the less exciting things like belly shirts (9 month reward) or Greek symbols (6 months) for vets. That's human nature. *shrugs*
The good news is: under the current model, if you started today, you will have access to Tier 9 rewards in 35 months, as opposed to the 7+ years required under the old system. Not only is it much faster, you also have to option to choose which rewards within a tier you want to take first, instead of it being automatically chosen for you.
I do understand your impatience. I'm just saying it's a lot better now than the old system of waiting 3 months for a reward of ANY kind, even a lame, err, LESS THAN EXCITING one. -
Quote:Sometimes I think maybe I should read your posts more often...
Then you come up with 'gems' like this. *golf clap*
Must be "Gang Up on GG Day." How did I miss that on my calendar? -
Quote:It is? You must be using a Delorean or something. It's only April 3rd here.Staff fighting could have been released before Issue 22 but I do understand they wanted Dark Control and Dark Assault and Beast Mastery in that timeframe. But it's now mid-April and we still don't know when it is going live. There really should be a schedule under Announcements so we know what to expect and when to expect it...it would alleviate so much forum angst if there were one.

Quote:In the last 8 months, we've gotten the following powersets:Well there was the whole thing Z mentioned about not wanting to release another melee powerset first. I mean, the purchased powersets have been, what?
1. Beam Rifle (Freedom launch?)
2. Street Justice
3. Titan Weapons
4. ???
So if Staff had been #4 instead of Beast Mastery, then we would have gotten an entirely different kind of whining (Y U MELLE ONLY?!)
Would it have been as bad as this? Who knows.
- beam rifle
- time manipulation
- darkness assault
- street justice
- dark control / darkness affinity
- titan weapons
- beast mastery
That's nearly one powerset a month. (It IS one a month if you count Darkness Affinity -- which I don't.)
Some of you will protest that not all of these were retail. That is irrelevant. Free to VIP's or not, they still took resources, personnel and testing. Now ask yourself this: from a business point of view, which is more effective? Releasing TWO powersets the same day (one retail, one free) or spacing them out? Even something as popular as Street Fighting would have seen FEWER sales if it had come out the same day as, say, Time Manipulation. With TWO shinies competing for people's attention, some potential SJ buyers would play with Time instead and might not get around to buying the retail set before another one was released.
I am NOT trying to justify releasing a bugged powerset before it's ready. I'm just saying that we've gotten MORE stuff more QUICKLY than we have in the past and all the "I want it nao" posts don't change that. -
Quote:wait a minute, staff is a melee powerset?
what were you guys thinking?
In the movie "The Three Musketeers" (the 1973 version), Porthos announces he's invented a new sword fighting technique. It consists of pulling your sword from your scabbard and releasing it so that it flies away and stabs your opponent. Aramis asks him to try this out on him, but this time Aramis easily knocks the blade away and then threatens the now-disarmed musketeer.
ARAMIS: "Only Porthos could invent a new way of disarming himself." -
Quote:Let's see. . . .Seriously devs what the hell why are you not releasing staff fighting? By the time its out we would have lost most of the interest in playing it.
In the last 8 months we've gotten the following:
- beam rifle
- time manipulation
- street justice
- dark assault
- titan weapons
- darkness control / darkness affinity
and, oh yeah - beast mastery
That's practically one a month. And you're complaining the devs are rolling them out too slowly? When did we ever get that many powersets that quickly?
And, for the record, in the past the devs may have told us what features would be in an upcoming issue but they never told us when said issue was being released. It was just "soon."
They told us issue release dates once and now you want that set in stone for everything. Demanding much? -

Out of curiosity, where do you see the dividing line for this proposed "subscription discount" ? You're saying "I've been subscribed for 7+ years; I deserve some kind of 'loyalty reward'." Overlooking the fact that there HAVE been loyalty rewards in the past (which as a 7+ year subscriber, you've already received), does that mean the reward won't go to 7 year subscribers? Or if it does, what about the 6 year olds, or even 5 year players? Where do you draw the line between "worthy" and "unworthy" ?
Maybe you're feeling generous and would apply it to anyone who was a paid subscriber from before F2P. So new subscribers would NEVER get the discount? Nice discrimination there.
How about FORMER subscribers who come back? Do THEY qualify?
I'm going to stop here. I think my head is starting to spin. -

Is it me or does Melissa look a LOT like Zwill today?

Quote:I was skimming this thread (to see if they fixed the lvl 40 Carnies bug) and must have been reading a little TOO quickly.Still, so what. It's part of the game. We are not playing Monty Hall's 'Let's Make a Deal, here.'
I was positive you said "We are not playing Monty Python's Let's Make a Deal."
Too bad. THAT would have been an interesting gameshow. -
Let's sum up, shall we?
- Still need to do both cross-faction arcs to get badge OR intro to DJ Zero.
- Still getting Valentine delivery missions to zones you can't enter.
- Widow Maker arc still bugged with lvl 40 opponents for level 30 charcters.
- the Abandon mission feature not WAI.
Have I mentioned how much fun this "Spring Fling" isn't? -
Well, it was a tough choice. I had to consider *. . . skips to the end . . .*
and THAT is why I selected version A. -
I don't know how much to read into this but the use of the term "beloved" is interesting.
For example, I like Doc Delilah (and not just for her appearance). But I wouldn't consider her "beloved." Same goes for BAB.
The only character I can think of with that level of affection is the afore-mentioned Penny Yin (and SISTER FLAME of course!) -
-
Oh, great. I can see it now. . .
"Where did you get that dent in your car?"
"Oh that? A wild dog jumped in front of my car out of nowhere."
"Mm-hmm. Well, that 'wild dog' apparently has Chris Jenkins for an attorney and is suing you for pain and suffering." -
Quote:I'll be very surprised if the missing word doesn't turn out to be "One (1) hour."From the Contest Rules prize section:
"One (1) of play time with a member of the Community team (Estimated retail value: $0.00)"
One what?
One day is too long; one mission could be really short; and "one afternoon" or "one game" too ambiguous.
