Who is going from VIP to Premium?
My second account will likely go Premium.
I haven't decided about my main account. I've been trying to decide since last November if I was going to renew or not. I still haven't decided but I have until near the end of October before I'm billed again. Several reasons, some I won't go into here since they are personal issues with some PS staff, some are due to lack of enthusiasm for the changes in the direction for the game, and a few other things.
Basically, most of the things that caused me to get Unleashed for a while.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

If F2P does change the CoH community significantly enough for some to quit over, I can see premium players popping in and out to socialize and maybe buy shinies from the Paragon Store with accumulated points. Since we don't know the full range of offerings for the microtransactions, though, it's hard to predict how tempted a premium player might be to pay real-world monies for them (which is the $64,000 question for Paragon Studios).
This will be an interesting question to revisit in a few months. At the moment, only those already preparing to quit will have a firm answer.

second account will definitely be premium, if my main account lapses, it's because of obvious financial reasons.

And on that note, I'll likely continue to pay.

I may cancel my acct like I have many times in the past, but I don't see any situation where I would stop paying but continue to play. The existence of the premium option will have no effect on my choices. If I stop paying it will be because I do not wish to play the game in its current form whatever that may be.
I will be going to premium. I am going back to school this fall to complete my degree and was planning on unsubbing since I won't have enough time to devote to CoH to justify a sub fee. Fortunately, CoH: Freedom gives me the ability to continue playing my favorite characters without paying. I will likely purchase some PPs here and there for new shinies, and I will likely go back to VIP once I am finished with school.
I have 3 accounts and odds are I will maintain the status quo on all 3 of them

Undecided with my second account.
I've given occassional thought to outright cancelling it at times in the past anyway, but now that it'll still be accessible to me in CoH Freedom, there is no longer any personal harm in letting it drop for a few months at a time here and there. And since it's already got over 5 years of veteran status and is currently paid through April 2012, I don't think I'll be losing much in the transition from VIP to Premium.
(I'm not dropping my primary account unless it becomes financially necessary.)

honestly. I'm undecided.
To make a point of it, NCSoft's behavior over the use of the new launcher really calls into question just how seriously Paragon Studios can be about the V.I.P. program being about the "subscribers"
I'm likely going to maintain the status quo. I have 1 account I pay for, and a second account that will be premium. However I might be forced, by financial reasons, to go premium with my primary account. However that choice doesn't have to be made until December.

I'm not quite sure about Premium. I'm definitely keeping my primary account subscribed. I have two others I keep around for testing and some other stuff, and I might downgrade them to Premium if I can configure them with the right Premium options. Alternatively, I might choose to keep them subscribed and add more associated premium accounts I can use for things like letting people test drive the game, having younger and somewhat unpredictable relatives goof around with CoH with me having to worry about what they'll do to the account, etc. Heck, maybe I'll make five more Premium accounts and use them to launch task forces with eight character minimums when I decide to try to solo them instead of begging for fillers. It might be the quickest way to get some of the Master badges.

When they start selling a linux-based launcher in the in-game store, then you'll know.

On the note of multiboxing TFs, you just reminded me of someone I knew who multiboxed LRSF back in I7.

I'm considering trying out Premium for a couple of months, just to see how restrictive it feels. I'm not crazy about the Incarnate stuff anyway, so I wouldn't miss that. I've been around long enough that I'd hopefully have the archetypes unlocked, and enough extra slots to keep me going for a while. Really, it'll probably come down to how "limited" the chat and auction house are, since I do use both of those quite a bit.

My main will stay VIP, but we will drop my husband's account (which is more like my second account TBH) will go Premium. The accumulated slots from 7 years sub will keep the important characters alive, and no one is really near 50 yet, so Incarnates isn't an issue. Also no MMs or Trollers on the account.
We were just keeping it subbed to allow me to use it as a 2nd account once he went to that 500-lb gorilla game and for ease of working with my SGs (invites & such).

I'm adding two accounts, that will go premium.
The main two will stay VIP, although the big MMO release coming up at holiday time will probably be taking my time.
I'm maintaining the status quo on my only account that matters.
I took advantage of last week's Steam sale to upgrade an old trial of mine to GR, but that is going to be Premium by default since I'm not paying to renew it after the free month. I just want a second account with GR access to use as a pad if needed.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
Maintaining the status quo. I love the Incarnate trials. If it weren't for them, I'd go premium.

After that? Who knows? I hope to be able to afford it, but I might not, so my answer is "unknown" at this time.

What I'm more interested in, is who will be playing the game that USED to pay (note the lack of an "L" there) that will still be playing, but not paying after Freedom hits?
And most importantly: WHY?
Consider this a public service for Paragon Studios marketing research team... what would make you want to play the game, but not enough to pay a monthly fee, when you have done so in the past? Is it related to how much you will still be able to do for free, or is it something else?
For your reference, in case you haven't seen it, here is a side by side comparison of the options.
