  1. So your greatest dream is that your parents buy you a $500 million video game?

Just messin' with you. Sounds amazing.
  2. I choose to see this as a good sign. Yes, I know I'm being naive.
  3. I would love to have lot 9. If you could e-mail it to @Guardian Irish-Fury that would be fantastic!
  4. 3 APs full on Freedom, we are up to 6 instances total last I looked.
  5. With the news of Paragon City's impending doom, I began thinking about the most fun I had over the last two years playing this game. My mind immediately went to the dual pistols super team we had last year on Freedom. I'm posting this here so former member who have become premium (like myself) can post and participate.

What I would love to do is get the old team back together, and invite anyone with a dual pistols caracter to join us for a farewell tour on the Freedom server. Post below if you are interested and let me know what times are most convienient for you.

I can speak for myself and likely Brave Starr in saying that we are definitely on board and somewhat flexible as far as time slots go.
  6. I was on a team this morning discussing with a team mate how grossly under-used Gold side seems to be these days. I've decided to see if there is any interest in starting a Goldside static team to run once a week. We will level 1-20 in Praetoria, and then continue to First Ward and Night Ward. This would have to happen during the week in the AM hours in the USA. Just wanted to put this idea out there and see what everyone thought.
  7. I skimmed the thread and didn't see it, but please forgive me if it's been mentioned...

    Field of Dreams.
  8. I agree too that the iTrials need to be difficult, but I don't see repeating the same task over and over again as difficult, it's just tedious. The original iteration of Keyes had the same problem.
  9. TPN reminded me a lot of the original Keyes. A lot of repeating the same task over and over. We tried it three times last night and failed on the final stage. I don't necessarily think it is too difficult, just way too tedious. After I get the badges on my main toon, I don't see myself running this very often.

MoM, on the other hand was fantastic. The fights were interesting without being too gimicky. I'll have to run it more to make a final decision, but it may be my favorite iTrial so far.
  10. Not to stir the pot, but if they were recruiting for MoM I can understand them requiring level shifted participants. A league full of normal level 50 toons wouldn't stand a chance against a 54+2 AV.

The part that bothered me about the OPs story was that the leader never responded after they found out you were level 50. It takes all of 15 seconds to send a polite reply explaining why they prefer level shifted toons.
  11. Generally when the question involves getting more damage, the answer is fire.
  12. I am a big fan of this idea, and oddly enough, it has never occured to me.

    /thumbs up

I use them on all my resistance based toons to help me reach the S/L softcap. I was slotting Aegis, but made this switch when I decided to soft cap my WP tank, and the difference in survivability has been amazing. Good IO set if softcapping S/L is your goal.

On behalf of men, thank you PR guy.
  16. The most effecient way to farm for purples is 0x8 with no bosses. As far as I know there isn't any data that shows bosses drop more purple recipes than anyone else. Shards, however are a different story as Lts and bosses do have a higher shard drop rate. So if you want to farm for both, then 0x8 with bosses would probably be ideal.

Glad you are happy with your build! If you are having fun on a mostly SO build, then there is no reason to spend billions on the one I posted. It's all about having fun, not having the best shinies.
  17. Yeah, the data chunk would be helpful. At a glance though, it looks pretty good, but I need to see it in Mids to give any kind of extensive feedback.
  18. I managed to sneak off on my break to grab my laptop, so as promised...

This is the build he is running currently. May not be perfect for your needs, but hopefully it will give you some ideas.

Replacing the three tier Kin Com with the KD proc in powers that aren't in your normal attack chain will save you bundles. That's exactly what I did. Good advice.

Very Pricy yes, but I have set several toons to work doing Tip missions and the Signature Story arcs...so mayhaps it is doable.

How many sets of Kin Combats????

Lisa-Rolling up her virtual sleeves and getting to work.
I want to say we used four sets, but without my laptop, I can't be certain. Look at Reactive Armor for your resist powers as they also offer S/L defense bonuses. Manuevers, Combat Jumping, Tough, and Weave, are all must-have powers.

We also tossed the Celerity stealth in sprint, which when paired with super speed gives you full invis. That not only gives you the option to skip sticky sections of missions, but also allows you to take the first shot at spaws, which mitigates the damage taken from the alpha. The only downside is, you will not be a very effective meat-shield for a team, but if soloability is your desire, the ability to go full invis is very nice.

If you have a toon on the Freedom server, we would be happy for you to tag along with us on a mission or two so you can see the build in action before you invest a lot of time and inf into it.
  21. I made a build for my best friends fire/fire scrap and he is as tough as most brutes out there. I built for softcapped S/L defense and a decent amount of recharge. Generally his stupid good damage is enough to melt spawns before they ever get through his defense. He is easily the most survivable scrapper I have ever teamed with and gets many comments on his toughness when running TFs and the like. He and I duo'd an MoITF without breaking a sweat (I was on a WP tank).

The bad news, I am at work and don't have access to Mids to share the build. Once I am able, I will post the build so you can take a look and decide if it suits your needs.

In the meantime, play with Mids and try building for S/L defense first and then recharge. Took quite a few sets of Kin Combats, which are fairly pricey at WWs, but well worth the investment if you use the toon a lot.

Like our previous enhancement offerings, these Rare IOs cannot be boosted, are account bound and attuned and they will level with you, within their level ranges. We're going to be watching these items closely as they represent another convenience vs. time offering and we're interested in their reception. We'll let you know about pricing tomorrow, however this initial offering will be at 50% off of their normal price, both individually for those of you who like to mix and match for your builds and as a bundled set.
My only issues with this is that "level with you" IOs are not earnable in-game. I don't like the idea of more powerful gear being availible for real money, but not earnable by playing the game. With these specific sets, it isn't game changing, but it is a slippery slope. As long as it is earnable in-game, I'm fine with it being available on the market.

That's not to mention the fact that swinging one around in a melee combat puts your own limbs at just as much, if not more, risk than the zombies' limbs.

In response to the OP: Note, in addition to the fact that most are locked to hero-side for the in-game acquisition, in-game acquisition also requires running through certain missions, several parts of an arc in some cases. So, yes, they're available "free" in-game. But mostly only to heroes, and most require a time investment. The pack in the store is a convenient shortcut.
Not to mention the fact that anyone who has used a chainsaw to cut wood knows that getting sawdust in your eyes and mouth is virtually unavoidable. Now, just replace sawdust with zombie bits and you begin to see why it isn't the best choice of melee weapon.
  24. Thanks for the recommendations Necro and Morbid. I have played through the RWZ arcs on my lvl 50 energy blaster and had a lot of fun with those, so I will probably make a second pass on those with this toon. Croatoa is something I have never done, so as soon as I wrap up First Ward, that will be my next stop. I may have to utilize Ouro if I outlevel, but as I said, I am not averse to that option.

Venture, it's funny you mention AE arcs, because that will probably be my next solo project. I want to take this toon to 50 completely solo using only dev created story arcs. After that, however, I had a notion to take another toon to 50 using only player created story arcs, just to see which journey is more enjoyable. Thanks for all those recommendations, as I will keep them in mind once I start on that project.

Edit: Fin, I agree with you on Maria Jenkins. I've done it both in it's original form and in it's current form to get the accolade, and I just do not like it. I will wind up doing it for the accolade, but it is at the bottom of my list for now.

Also, I am using a BS/Shield scrapper if that matters.
