IO sets and Fire/Fire Scrap question

Hello everyone.
I hear there is going to be a solo path to the incarnates put in soon...I have been quiet about this because I refuse to believe it until I see it...that way I won't be heartsore if it does not happen for some reason or another.

But, I am logging in my 50s and looking at their slotting with a critical eye.

ChiliCheeseDog Annie, a Fire/Fire scrap was my first 50...I soloed her 97% of the time. Not entirely 100% because I have teamed her with my better half and a few global friends who are no longer ingame

I unlocked her Alpha Slot solo, then went on to other alts.

I looked at her this morning, and I want to play this squishy Scrapper again. I just don't know which sets I should be using. When I unlocked the Alpha slot and turned Trapdoor into burnt toast she was using Crushing Impact..but if there is to be a solo path to Incarnates, I want her to be as tough as I can get her.

The new offerings from the Paragon Market may be a way of doing this....maybe.

Touch Of Death and Makos.

I do have a stock pile of Mako collected when when my Katana/Elec fearlessly took on the Carnies. I may not have every piece, but if Mako is good forFire /Fire scrappers, I can buy what I am missing.

Touch Of Death..nope, I will have to buy sets from the market, which if it will bring new life into my Fire/Fire I will gladly do.

Thanks in advance for any, and all help, that you super clever people who know maths can give me.

Lisa.

I made a build for my best friends fire/fire scrap and he is as tough as most brutes out there. I built for softcapped S/L defense and a decent amount of recharge. Generally his stupid good damage is enough to melt spawns before they ever get through his defense. He is easily the most survivable scrapper I have ever teamed with and gets many comments on his toughness when running TFs and the like. He and I duo'd an MoITF without breaking a sweat (I was on a WP tank).

The bad news, I am at work and don't have access to Mids to share the build. Once I am able, I will post the build so you can take a look and decide if it suits your needs.

In the meantime, play with Mids and try building for S/L defense first and then recharge. Took quite a few sets of Kin Combats, which are fairly pricey at WWs, but well worth the investment if you use the toon a lot.

Very Pricy yes, but I have set several toons to work doing Tip missions and the Signature Story arcs...so mayhaps it is doable.

How many sets of Kin Combats????

I want to say we used four sets, but without my laptop, I can't be certain. Look at Reactive Armor for your resist powers as they also offer S/L defense bonuses. Manuevers, Combat Jumping, Tough, and Weave, are all must-have powers.

We also tossed the Celerity stealth in sprint, which when paired with super speed gives you full invis. That not only gives you the option to skip sticky sections of missions, but also allows you to take the first shot at spaws, which mitigates the damage taken from the alpha. The only downside is, you will not be a very effective meat-shield for a team, but if soloability is your desire, the ability to go full invis is very nice.

If you have a toon on the Freedom server, we would be happy for you to tag along with us on a mission or two so you can see the build in action before you invest a lot of time and inf into it.

you need like 3-4 sets of kin combat at least I think to soft cap. If you got the slots to spare skip the kin combat tripple for the KD proc and make up for it with other slots. Or if your on a tight budget go for smashing haymaker sets for budget s/l.

Replacing the three tier Kin Com with the KD proc in powers that aren't in your normal attack chain will save you bundles. That's exactly what I did. Good advice.

YES PLEASE. I've basically abandoned my 50s for now because I got sick of the iTrials and feel like so much less than I could be just running regular content. I haven't even tried the new iTrials. I've just stopped caring.

Give me some soloable incarnate content!

On the positive side, that has me spreading my time between quite a few lowbies and mid-level characters, which is a nice change of pace.

Anyway, if you're soloing incarnate content, I assume they'll still have 64% to hit, and soft capping a Fire/Fire to that may not be in the cards except on demand (Barrier, Shadow Meld, and/or purples). Still, you'll probably want a little over the regular soft cap so that a small purple can take you all the way when you need it, so I'm not sure the build goals change.

Here's (almost) what I'm running on mine. (I have a purple set in fireball).

1777 hp, over 32.5% def to s/l/e/n, good recovery, huge honkin' heal every 12s. Spiritual core to help make up for the lack of recharge (also boosts the heal, and my recovery is fine without cardiac), barrier destiny for high stress moments, reactive and pyronic for moar fire. I find it really useful in a lot of situations to have ranged attacks. I've experimented with musculature, but the extra recharge and healing seems to help me more than the extra damage.

More food for thought

Fun experience: ITF, having a mildly IO'd invuln tank complain about getting out-tanked by the fire scrapper, hehe. Before I had unlocked destiny. Pop a purple insp (or two against heavy defense debuffers or incarnate to-hit) during high stress moments and you're golden, even without a destiny power. It's a pretty solid scrapper, without the need for the qualifier: for a fire scrapper .

edit to add: JayboH, I ran a high recharge build before this one, it was a beast (I still have it as build 1, in fact). The slight loss in damage output was more than compensated for by the extra survivability, to me. I haven't switched back to build 1 in ages.

Lisa bounces back into thread....hello all. Instead of starting a new thread I am going to add to this one.

Irish Fury, I like your build and it is something to work towards, all those Kin Combats will take some time.

In the meantime though, I came up with what I call a Glorified SO build, IE, I went to the Paragon Market and took advantage of the Mako's bite sale...well, first of all I thought about what I wanted to do with my Fire/Fire.

Soloing GMs, and AVs, and Pylons, are definately not on my list of things I want to do with her, and I do solo, and I am a firm believer in using inspirations.

I also love using Ouroboris and redoing missions I have had fun with.

Long story short, I respeced into this build of mine and dashed out to do the "Who Will Die 3."

"Hmmm", thought I 'lots of bad guys in this one"

I completed it, and only after I finished, did it dawn on my to check my difficulty level.

I ran it on 0/8, and died three times, only three times, I could have died a lot more but I ran away like a little girl a couple of times

So, I think I am very happy with this build.

And now I come to you all with a question.

What is the best difficulty to farm for Shards/Purples????

Or do people farm for shards anymore?

I am so out of touch with the incarnate thing....ParagonWiki here I commmmeeeee

Lisa.

In regards to /FA

What's everybody's opinions on StJ/FA both for budget and then expensive builds?

Posted

The most effecient way to farm for purples is 0x8 with no bosses. As far as I know there isn't any data that shows bosses drop more purple recipes than anyone else. Shards, however are a different story as Lts and bosses do have a higher shard drop rate. So if you want to farm for both, then 0x8 with bosses would probably be ideal.

Glad you are happy with your build! If you are having fun on a mostly SO build, then there is no reason to spend billions on the one I posted. It's all about having fun, not having the best shinies.

Thanks.
