mouse pointer hiding in plain sight

For about a year now, ever since I got my 22" HD monitor, I've had a recurring problem during play. I lose sight of my mouse pointer. There is no graphics glitch or anything, just a white arrow hiding in plain sight somewhere on the large amount of real estate it can occupy.

For example, in the midst of battle, a teammate grants me a Mystic Fortune buff. I instinctively start moving the mouse to the center of the screen to the requester, so the buff can be allowed. But somehow, all of a sudden the mouse pointer is no longer in my focus. It had been behaving fine, as I instinctively use my power tray to respond to the needs of battle. But now that my concentration has shifted, and needs to focus on the location of the mouse pointer, I cannot find it.

At this point I usually try to move the pointer to an edge of the screen, where there will be less real estate to search. Actually this works, but it feels like I've wasted seconds searching for the darn thing, which never used to get lost. Is anyone else having the same problem?

I lose my mouse cursor all the time. I can't determine whether it's a problem with the game, the computer, or the aging human player. I've been banking on the latter, though.

Happens to me all the time too. I think it is because I use the mouse to turn, so when the pointer disappears then reappears due to holding down the right mouse button I can't locate it again (usually in a big fight).

An option to make the mouse pointer bigger (like you can in the OS mouse options) would be great !

That is exactly what happens to me too. I actually figured it was the same as Tenzhi's problem.

Ditto to this.

I am definitely having the same problem, always losing the mouse. I have a key bound to "mouselook" while I move and that makes the mouse pointer disappear until I release it, and I have NO idea where the mouse pointer is at that point.

One thing that helps me out, at least with dialog boxes, is a bind that I use:

Y "dialog_yes$$dialog_answer Accept"
N "dialog_no$$dialog_answer Decline"

that I keep in a text file so I can "/bindloadfile" on any character. If you wanted to just type it in you'd have to use the "/bind" command before the actual commands.

Not much to it, but it helps with all of those little boxes that pop up and request a yes/no response.

I know exactly how ya'll feel. Makes me wish there were more cursor options for us old fogeys.

As long as it is an OPTION. I really don't want to see a repeat of the howls of outrage and horror that resulted from the implementation of the "Big Blue Hand" years ago.

I do wish we had some option for locating the mouse cursor, like the various Windows accessibility features. I don't remember them all, but there is an option to make the cursor leave trails as it moves so it's easier to spot when you jiggle it, and there is an option which causes a large circle to converge on your pointer when you press a button (Ctrl), both of which do help a lot.

I, too, lose my pointer all the time, especially in heated fights with many enemies, many allies and many effects going on at the same time. It's one of the reasons I try to stay away from large teams - I can't keep track of what's going on. My solution has always been to jam the pointer in the lower right corner since I'll know where to look there, and try to follow its path from there, but even in these cases I often lose track of where it is as I move it.

I lose my cursor at least 3 to 5 times per playing session. An option for a larger/more brightly colored cursor would be helpful.

I can usually find the cursor by moving it to the lower right part of the screen, where my power and inspiration trays are. Having something stable as the background makes it easier to see the mouse moving on the screen.

Yep, I lose the pointer sometimes; it usually happens when I'm tired. An option to increase the size would be nice.

Me too, exactly this. The problem is much more noticeable on my newer larger monitor so I think that does make a difference.

I have this problem at times and it's cost me a few team teleports and the like while I try frantically to find the pointer to click yes. I could solve that particular problem but unchecking prompt for tp but I'm a control freak. :P

In this club. Wish there were a QoL improvement that would cause the mouse pointer to either change colors or get distinctly colored trailers if you wiggle it rapidly or something.

Problem started when I jumped up to the highest resolution on a cinematic display. This is the only game or software in which I currently experience this.

And obviously, like so many other graphic QoL features, what I'm asking for should have the option to be turned off for those that don't like it.

I too have a large monitor and this problem. I find it helps to use the 'Compatablecursors 1' switch because it has a little more contrast for me.

I'd sign for an option for a bigger pointer and/or the ability to color it. Or even better, make the cursor the inverse color of whatever is beneath it so it always stands out.

Yeah, I have something similar (except I use [ and ]) in my "binds for every character" file -- I've also mapped the left/right scroll on my mouse to those keys, so I don't even need to move my hand. One nice thing about doing this -- it also works on "OK" buttons. Since I started doing this, I've gotten really irritated at the dialogue boxes that could use the "OK" button but instead use text that says "leave" -- or even worse, "OK".

Huh. I never really occurred to me that so many folks would share this problem. Happens to me too. I have a 24" wide screen, and the little thing just disappears into the wash during battle.

I usually find it by swirling it in a circular motion until it catches my eye. I'd dig an option to make it larger.

Dang I thought this was just me getting old. I however think that the computer's focus is getting lost and the mouse is moving behind the screen. I usually find it by clicking (which can cause anything to happen from target switches, to powers turning on/off, to leaving game) but at least I can see it again.

I also have a LOT of trouble with changing trays by accident when trying to click power 1, then I am madly switching trays in combat. An individual tray lock command would be very nice.

Yeah, put me in this camp as well. Normally during intense battles (i.e. worst time possible lol) I would love to be able to make it just a little bigger.
