Quote:1. Still not the point.Correct me if I'm wrong but this is two presumptions.
1. That because the game didn't yet have it included that the incarnate being manipulated by the well didn't exist.
2. The origin of the incarnate system.
2. I remember the actual "Hey can we be awesome like Statesman?" conversations. -

There is no positioning yourself for the ambush that appears on top of you, or the one that appears on top of you soon after that one appears, or the third ambush that appears while you're just finishing off the last of the first ambush and then getting defeated having used up all your Inspirations defeating the 5 or so +1 enemies that appeared in the first ambush while soloing at -1/x0. The only conditioning there is being conditioned to accept getting stomped into the ground. Even the allied NPCs received that gentle conditioning with gusto in that mission. -
Quote:Hey, you can do exactly what I've done from time to time: Stop subscribing but occasionally check the main site for the content of updates. If anything "wows" you, resub and continue playing for as long as it holds your interest.I'm not really all bent out of shape over it.
I would just like the Devs to show me in some small way that Issue 20 isn't going to be the standard fare from now on. If it is, I will have to at some point question why I'm sticking around. If not, then all's good for me.
I am one of those people that never really wanted CoH to have an endgame, as I felt we didn't need one. But obviously other people enjoy endgame play and I do not begrudge them that at all. I would just like to see a few small things I do enjoy in future content updates. Things like powerset proliferation, new story arcs, new costume options all go quite a long way toward keeping me engaged.
I'm not saying that I think the Devs will never do any of that again. I'm sure they will. But I suppose it's a matter of frequency for me. If I can only realistically expect those types of updates once a year, for example, then it hardly seems worth it for me to continue dumping money into the game. -
Quote:This right here is why I can't get worked into a lather about i20. The complaints aren't even new.Guys, let me just say this: I'm fed up.
I never asked for what the devs are giving us. All I wanted was a nice, fun game full of never ending content that I can do by myself or with friends.
And now the devs have released this issue's list of content and I don't see anything that I want in it.
Seriously, how can this game survive? If the devs keep mishandling the system and catering to one small subset of the player base like this, the game will be dead within months. No one asked for an entire issue devoted ONLY to this. Sure, they gave solo players a bit of a carrot, but then they also got the stick.
Why, devs, did you make issue 4 ONLY about Arena PvP? There's no way this game makes it through the summer of 2005 with your shortsightedness! -
To be very honest, ALL our major villains fall into this category. They all have essentially the same objective and running missions related to their eventual confrontation are all but identical. This is the main reason I don't understand all the RAAAAAGH PRAETORIANZ! angst. They're no better or worse that what we've been given all along.

Quote:This.More realistically BOTH sides of the argument have misrepresented each other greatly.
I'm a pretty argumentative guy, and usually if Sam's posted in a thread, there's no need for me to bother as he's usually already said exactly what I was thinking (and often far more nicely) but I just can't seem to get very worked up about this issue (on either side)
Quote:And what do I want? For them to hear me, address me, show any indication whatsoever that they give a flying rat's *** about my opinion, or otherwise, GIVE ME MY GORRAM MONEY BACK. -
Quote:Indeed. And ask him about monstrous feet that aren't digitigrade....and...and...I agree, the animal fur pattern on the smooth boots option just looks awful, and out of place for me. It kind baffles me that it's not on the flat boot option, were I think it would make more sense. you have the mutant pack options on flat boots, just don't understand why it isn't the same with the animal pack. Maybe I should just send a PM to Dave or SexyJay and find out if it's being looked at.

Quote:For a booster, and therefore a set of new costumes that I've paid for, the beast pack seems to me somewhat lackluster especially when compared to the Martial arts booster. Most of the animal patterns don't work unless you'd also like to be naked; The run animation is quite rough (no jumping backward animation as well as the occasional male grunt noise for female bodytypes) etc.Personally, I'm sorely disappointed we don't have fur for flat boots and fur for big boots and gloves. This just seems lazy to me. Not having a bear head I can understand - that's a serious art team project. But not having a texture reapplied?
Hell, I could do that if my ancient pigg viewers worked under W764, and I can guarantee you the textures would fit just fine, but I don't want to get in trouble for swimming with swine, as it were. -
Thanky.
I would have liked to see more (some) general costume improvements. Things like new hairstyles, and glove-boot options, things that fall outside themed booster packs. -
Quote:This is a pointless argument, because ANYTHING they focus on is going to have players riding around in the whaambulance if it doesn't happen to be their particular cup of tea.Yeah, well myself and players like me would like something else new to do in this game than fight the same guy three issues in a row so far. So there.
(Preemptively bolded before the inevitable "the old content isn't going anywhere" or "go play another game." I like this game, I don't like Praetoria, I'm not alone, and such an unprecedented focus on one story line that many people don't like alienates those people.)
On an unrelated note, can someone post all the info in the thread? The main site is blocked for me here at work. -
They're only "boring" because the "newness" has worn off.

Apart from the fact that elec domination sounds like forlorn cows, I've noticed that I'm suddenly missing many of the secondary sound effects for certain powers. energy blasts only play the impact sound, not the blast sound, elec blasters are just silent etc. has anyone else had this issue? I've already checked the options to make sure I have effects enabled (and I do)

They aren't the ones "whining" about it since as has been stated repeatedly, it doesn't really affect them

Quote:SERIOUSLY! (and I know this must have been brought up before as well)So the club is yet another Nemesis machination. But to what end?
To force all the heroes and villains to do nothing but erotic role-pla.......oh no!
Why is it for the vast majority of players, "RP" means "loudly act out your most erotic, inane and cliched sexual fantasies in the most crowded of areas."? Jesus, all the conversations read like slash/fic -

I'm wondering how exactly one would go about not playing the game just to play the game. What does that even mean?
If the implication is that it's just running around punching things with no regard for any of the rewards, be they XP or drops, I'd say that's somewhat of a unrealistic ask on any more than a personal scale. -
You know, it's interesting to me that the exploitative way of playing is actually the preferred play style of the average player when it comes to AE.
OH NOES!
Sure, we have very vocal posters on the boards decrying the practice and citing it as bad for the game, but the chief complaints (it's impossible to find non-farm teams or that "real missions" are buried under five starred farms) are actually pretty good evidence that those who wish to play non-farms are in the minority.
