Seriously, what is up with the sounds?

Apart from the fact that elec domination sounds like forlorn cows, I've noticed that I'm suddenly missing many of the secondary sound effects for certain powers. energy blasts only play the impact sound, not the blast sound, elec blasters are just silent etc. has anyone else had this issue? I've already checked the options to make sure I have effects enabled (and I do)

I had the afternoon off work today and played for a couple of hours and did not have any of these problems.
