If City of Heroes closed down tomorrow...
I might go back to MUSHing.
Well, it'd go something like this.
Days 1-6: Lay around in a fugue, trying to get into various single-player games and offline activities and finding myself just instinctively trying to log in to check to markets or run a few tip missions.
Days 7-20: Try out different MMOs and remember that I hate all of them.
Days 21+: Eventually just spend more time on the other stuff I enjoy. Probably read a lot more and start watching more than five anime series a year. Almost invariably, I'd start running a new tabletop game, as I got bottled up with character ideas that would have to go somewhere.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Probably put more effort into SC II (barely touch it these days). I might even give DCUO a real chance. I haven't touched in since the first week I had it or so.
Too many alts to list.
I'd be pretty angry, I just spent $9.99 for an animal pack that I got to use for 1 day!
Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day, SET a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
Incarnates: K'lir(Fire/Dark Corr):Hot-House Flower(Plant/Fire Dom):Kinrad X(Kin/Rad Def):Itsy-Bitsy Spider(Crab):Two Ton Tony(Mace/WP Broot):Teeny Weeny Widow(Fortunata/Widow) : Zeroth Law (Ice/Fire Tank)
Spend more time with the wife and kids, do more work around the house
I'd have a chance to finish other games and use the PS3 I got for Xmas more, there's a small pile of games 'stacking' up on that (ahem)
Seeing wife/kids doesn't count really because they're all in bed when I play anyway.
...what would you do with your time?
Immediately jump on to your next favorite MMO? Spend more time on console/PC games? Or would you use your time to do something else non-game related? And no, this isn't intended to be any sort of doom-crying, just random discussion. |
I'd sink into Minecraft for a few hours at a time and then have very little to do as far as gaming's concerned.
I might even cry a little as my fiancee and I play the game with each other side by side and I'd miss zipping around the Rogue Isles with her.

"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
I'd cry and then wait for someone to make a superhero or world of darkness mod for Minecraft.
I would get writing past Chapter 3 in my book and perhaps even finish it.
I know I will finish it one day but I have rewritten the first 3 chapters 4 times and each time it was better. The first 3 are now very good and all I have inflicted them to read for me are actually saying please finish it so I can read the whole thing.
I have to be off for knee surgery a couple of days and so I am hoping I can do a little of both
I'd probably get an XBox or console and play with that.
No interest in grinding to max level and acquiring loot in another game and I have friends I can reach out of game so...the 'next MMO' would need fairly balanced PvP or ease of levelling/acquisition to get me hooked.
That, or a Wild(er) West MMO. Guns & spells? Deadlands? I am so there.
Not likely to happen though...
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes

I'd take a ton of screenshots. And then cry a lot.
But, better myself? Get real. I'd just shift my gaming time to other games.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I would thank the developers and community staff.
I would try to see if Titan network could pull off something.
I would then spend the vast majority of time with my family and only sparadically picking up something for a time here or time there.
It is the nature of life that people would pause to reflect, then either greave or find elation in the end of CoH.
They would then move on to the next thing that held their interest.

I'd take one last trip to the Hive and dance in the bowl until the servers were shut down for good.

First of all, if it closed tomorrow without notice, I would probably cry, and I'm a grown man (I think I am, at least.) Second, I'd see if my VG would wanna try another MMO. I've never not played an MMO, it's always a good way of wasting time and making friends.

I would probably snooker my wife a couple more times a week.

What? Too honest?
Seriously? I'd probably stop gaming again for a while.
NOT going to go to WoW.
Won't even give CO or DCUO the time of day.
Might play some more POTCO on and off, but not regularly.
There really isn't anything out there that really grabs me and makes me want to play.
Play more Killing Floor, finally those highest level perks. Pick up the Battlefield-series again for some hard PvP. Stick with Team Fortress 2 for the casual stuff. I just might breath life into some old hardware lying around to play old favourites like Oni and XIII again, if I find the time.
Oh, and apply for beta to City of Heroes 2. Whatever it'll be called.
I would look for the nearest thing to base editing I could find.
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
In order:
1) Cry;
2) Play other games;
3) Try to see if NCSoft will license a private server.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Log into Champions Online and troll zone chat, because obviously it'd be their fault!
Um... or alternately go work on my Steam list.
I'm right there with Geko and the others. First thing I would do is cry myself a storm of tears. Then maybe consider getting a gun and trying to find those responsible for the game shutting down and shooting them. But then I'd realize this is foolish and try to log back into the game again, believing that the shutdown was a lie.
Return to crying for a bit, but eventually would just go take a shower and clean myself up and wait for Star Wars The Old Republic. Where all my characters would have City of Hero toon names.
Better never shut the game down, I might come looking for ya!
