  1. Thanks for the game, the time and the memories, and the community. Until next time everyone!
  2. So the real question is.....

Where do we all go from here?
    Titan Network?

    Where????
  3. Michelle,

Thanks for the films, thanks for the memories!

Your contributions have put you in a special place for the forum. We have been blessed by your time and effort and we are the better for it.

Although.. I still don't forgive you for making me like the birthday video you did for Cende. Which in turn made me like the Dracula the Musical songs, which in turn made me mad that I didn't get to see the play now!!!

    Seriously though Michelle... thanks!

    Last Dance

    Arcana,
I just wanted to thank you for the years of contributing you have done for all of us on the forums.

You are far more than a Jewel to everyone here.
You have been a guiding force in knowledge and wisdom.

Thank you sincerely, for both one last hurrah and making me sad again that we are shutting down!

Thanks always and I hope to see your posts again elsewhere!

  7. Sigh...
    Michelle... Michelle... Michelle...

I enjoyed this video while the same time despising the need for it.

You did a great job on this, but then again that was expected.

Still.. thank you for taking the time through the years to step up and make these great videos for everyone to enjoy. I think it became a labor of love for you after awhile. It might also have become a labor to rival that of Hercules after awhile too

Needless to say, if we only have one or two more from you, this one was a very good one.

    Thanks for making it!
  8. Andy,
I'm happy that you are going to spend time with your family and then pursure new options open to you as they come.
I think with your qualifications you will have little trouble landing into a new position.

I do admit though, with you no longer officially posting, the boards are now one irrevacable step closer to shutting down.

    Well.. Good Luck Andy!
Was fun having you as the Community Lead!
  9. Black Pebble,
The final Quan Tee Fii was a Dark Melee/Will Power Brute. I went for max survivablity by the time #21 came around.

The self heal coupled with the Regen allowed me to handle solo +0 * 2 with ease, *3 with caution, * 4 with some nail biting involved.

I also teamed a lot with the guys and we usually ended up around *8 but then again, we usually ended up dead that way too

    I went through:
    Blasters
    Scrappers
    Brutes
    Dominators
    Controllers

Finally settled on the DM/WP brute for the win
  10. I have read the Iron Eagles thread for awhile now.
Always admired the thought and it helped me decide to do it.

My hat is off to you guys for I know how tough it is to do that.
  11. Hello everyone,
Awhile ago I started a project with a few friends. It was called the No Die project.
Premise is simple. If your character suffers a defeat of any kind for any reason, you have to delete and start over from level 1.
Attempts were marked by adding a number after your name.

Case in point is the one character among us who made it to level 50 without suffering a single defeat!

    Quan Tee Fii XXI
He had suffered through twenty previous attempts but lucky number 21 was it!

Note that within the yellow circle below damage taken and healing others, there is NO hint of having had to repay any debt!

BTW: A very good friend who was doing this as well once had to start over after his level 1 self destructed moving the button out of the way

    Hiya

    Welcome to Justice 2short!!!

Enjoy the stay, park your sanity at the door!
  13. I knew of Lucas... heck.. probably all of Justice knew of Lucas! He helped make Justice Server what it was/is!

He had the knowledge, skill and fun that made him uniquely "Lucas".

    Rest in Peace
  14. New characters from 1 to 28
Two others from 24 to 28
    My no-die from 38 to 40
A few others a level here and there.

Overall not too bad I guess.
  15. Well I know I was in the timeframe, but I don't think I will get one.

Using my phone, I didn't understand or even know what a 're-tweet' was.. so I did a respond instead.
I did accidentally click a retweet on the web site, but that was to Positron who even sent something back.

I went and did the re-tweet thing after.. but sadly I am not sure I did anything right so I highly doubt if I got anything.

Nothing in my message box anyways.

** Bugs me that I didn't/don't know anything or enough about something so easy as Twitter.
  16. I have heard a rumor that if you slot the blaster ATO and then increase the effectiveness of the set through the catalyst.... this raises them to 'superior' or effectively making them 'purple'??

    Is that correct??

    Heromakr Files

    And your point is?

I know why we don't. I was not asking about another MMO or that.

I was asking about an old DOS program for a tabletop game.

There is no comparison of a game to this or that. Just a question posted here because a few are old gamers that might have some knowledge about my question.

    Heromakr Files

    Hey all,
Since we don't really have another game section per say...
Since this really has to do with a very old DOS version computer program I am hoping it wont be zapped.

    Question;
Anyone know how to make Heromakr run in Vista?
I don't believe it likes the DOS emulator that Vista has?

The problematic issue for me is the sudden, summary nature of it. Statesman vows to Wade that he is going to make sure he rots in prison for the death of his daughter, then walks into the Obvious Trap (tm) (for an inferred reason not explicitly given) and then is caught in the force beams. He realizes he is having his power stolen and is getting killed.

So he decides to die at the prompting of his deceased wife, flops a couple of times and is dead. If you blink, you miss it.

SuperOz has set out some excellent reasons earlier in the thread as to why this seems utterly out of character, and I added a few myself. It is also a dramatic shift in attitude on Statesman's part in the space of a few seconds, from "I'm taking you in" to "I'm going to just give up and die."

Your explanation is fine. It could work, had it been given, and it would be satisfactory overall if the Devs had laid some groundwork for it. But that did not happen. As it stands, we have to infer that a Ritual will presumably not work because Statesman does not want to return, period. Why that may be so also has to be inferred. And that is greatly problematic.
    Melancton,
First of all I agree with you that they shouldn't have killed off Statesman.
I think it was done poorly and in a haste.

Now there seems to be this lingering question of why did Statesman just give up and die.

It appears to me in the cutscene, that he was first rendered powerless. Then while powerless he was subjected to the beams(whatever they were) and during the time we see the now infamous "It's okay to die" part.

What I saw.. was that a normal human was killed using 'whatever'.
In the final seconds as he was dying he saw the visions we all see.

It appears to me that he could never have 'decided to put up a fight and win'.
He was for all purposes dead when we see that scene.
No normal human could have said 'Well I will just fight back now" and win.

People seem to want to think that he could have found some inner will and desire to fight. What normal human could withstand that energy to stop the destruction of his body?

What they put in there, was just the final seconds of a normal human dying and what most hope they would see. Long past loved ones saying it is okay to be at peace.

There was no way a normal human could have fought against that energy to survive and fight back.

First... I have no problem with her outfit.
Second... I dont have much of a problem with her being around, although I like Psyche better.

Third.. Isn't it a bit of a problem, when you go and meet her now.. and then can go stand next to her 'younger' self?

At least with Fusionette growing... we don't get to do the double interact with her. Young she is in missions, older.. again in missions. You can never go stand next to her younger and older selves out in the open.
    Or.. am I mistaken?

Why did Sister Psyche walk out naked into the street yesterday? She's only human. She just forgot to put on clothes in the morning. How could statesman forget to breath and die? Oh, he's only human. It's more interesting when he has flaws.

Humans are not idiots. Humans whose entire profession revolves around meta-human affairs, whose very survival depends on understanding and dealing with other meta-humans, are DEFINITELY not idiots. If that's how Manticore operates, he should never have been allowed into the Phalanx to begin with. If that's how capable Sister Psyche is, she should never have lived to be as old as she is. Again, you don't get to be the premier hero in your field by making rookie mistakes. And, no, just being human doesn't excuse it. Professional soldiers are just human, but they don't continuously make terrible decisions over and over again. If they did, they wouldn't have made it out of boot camp. And if they somehow did, they wouldn't have lived long enough to be the best of the best in their field.

I expect the Freedom Phalanx to be competent, as is expected of their position. You can weave a story as to how they were completely unprepared in every way imaginable and how they did exactly the wrong thing in every instance where a choice was relevant, and I'm sure you can make it stick. But that doesn't make it a GOOD story.

All you've been doing so far is defending how the story makes sense, and it can make sense. But that doesn't make it a good story. You've gone on to explain how the Freedom Phalanx can make mistakes. But that doesn't make them competent. You've explained how the various members may have issues, but that doesn't make them any less horrible as people. Because everything they touch fails, every decision they make is wrong and everything they attempt just makes things worse, to the point where I'm the only one seemingly capable of doing anything at all.

Fine, put me over, I don't disagree with it, but all this does is utterly BURY the Freedom Phalanx to the point that not only are they irrelevant and ineffectual, but they're an embarrassment to the super hero community at large. Such is their sudden ineptitude, in fact, that it's almost as if an invisible hand is twisting the plot so that they always fail... Which is exactly what's happening, but I'm not supposed to notice that.

    *edit*
I should point out that the core story is not bad, even if I might have slipped into sweeping generalisation and said so a couple of times. The idea behind it is solid. It's just executed in such a way that it simply murders any interest I might have had in any of the characters involved. So far, the only members of the Phalanx (and, yeah, that apparently includes BABs again) that I actually care about are the ones who haven't taken part in the story, if only because they've embarrassed themselves less than their peers.

    *edit*
And another thing! There are many ways to "humanise" otherwise super-powered people, and many of them don't involve having them screw up like rookies. I mentioned this many times before, specifically in my Tender Moments thread, but it's worth bringing up here again - making characters appear more human is best achieved by giving us a glimpse at their lives when they are not engaged in whatever they have become an icon of. If we want to give super heroes depth and humanity, this is best achieved by exploring their lives outside of super hero work.

The SSAs don't do that in the slightest. It's work, work and more work, because these people apparently have no private lives that aren't part of their work. Giving them flaws doesn't make them more human. It makes them just as one-dimentional as before, only now they're unreasonably crap heroes where before they were unreasonably perfect heroes. It's like turning Samus Aran into a winmpy, insecure, ineffectual klutz in an effort to give her character, which just serves to make people hate her and the people who wrote dialogue for her, too.

    Sam,
First off.. this is not an attack on you.
    But...
How about you put together a short synopsis of how you would have done it instead of how it was done?

Gear it towards not being long because players have short attention spans when reading text 'in game'.

Post that, then let everyone decide if your idea would have been better than what we were given.

I personally think you are not correct on a few of the things you said, but to each their own. Now however, I would like to see what you could do (if you chose to) on their as you say.. making the Freedom Phalanx incompetent.

    The problem is time.

Allow me to show you the current project roster. Some of these have been on the roster for over THREE YEARS because they keep getting shelved thanks to stuff like issue releases and whatnot. (Oh yeah, I should add the I-22 trailer to that... brb.)

    Michelle
    aka
    Samuraiko/Dark_Respite
    Michelle,
That is very big list. I personally would reorganize it based on what I saw interesting in there haha.

    Still big list for sure.
  23. Michelle,
Would you like to stretch your creativity to the limit?

Would you like to put a new project on your list to do inspite of the fact that you don't have enough time to complete the stuff already on your list?

Would you like to get 'the look' from Cende when you tell her of this new project?

    Title:
    Life of a Hero

The video to be of the highlights of Marcus from his drinking of the well to his ending.

I think inside, that you would really like to. But can you find the time and desire to do this?

    Just a thought.

  24. No plans to have a Statesman funeral???

They put together a new mission map with custom glowie for Hero 1, but they have no plans to do anything for Statesman?

    WOW

That or.. he will be coming back sooner rather than later?

Who knows anymore, for sure it seems odd to me, but then again... what do I know?
