Panthro looks more like a Thunder Gorilla.

And Cynical Gamer. You are dead to me. Nay, you have gone beyond dead. You are undead. A rotting shambling corpse with the temerity to disparage Bruce Timm's work.

From the few episodes of new transformers stuff I've seen, and the kids cartoons going round I have to say,

I would atleast rather good artistic visuals inspired by (or directly using) a brilliant artistic style, and telling lackluster stories.

Since the new transformers stuff loosely draws on anime, but generally falls into the category many modern cartoons fall into of using less and less character detail, and they tell lackluster stories.

His designs aren't bad on paper, it's just when they get animated and/or poorly imitated.

Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!

I agree!...I will give this a look for sure!

Is that a slight toward the DCAU? Because the DCAU were quality cartoons and very few cartoons today can compare. Mostly now we have cartoons designed by that hack, Tartakovsky.

Is that a slight toward Samurai Jack?

Cause I'm gonna have issues with that, sir.

I hated Dexter's Lab after Tartakovsky left it

Art sucked.

I liked Samurai Jack. The art could have been better.

The art on the other shows wasn't fun to watch for me. Still I hate that it seems like everything is Anime ish or powerpuff girls ish.

Snarf character design...

I'm hoping Snarf is going to be more like Lassie then 80's Snarf. The less talking the better

Okay, I can accept if something just isn't your cup o' tea, but THAT statement is just plain wrong.

The art was heavily stylized, but it did not suck.

Heck, the shadow fight from Samurai Jack is one of the coolest and most stylish pieces of animation I've seen.

Lion-o Strife is it. (seriously he looks like a demi human version of Cloud.) The original show was really bad, so honestly anything can be an improvement. Especially the voice overs. I know if you were a kid during the 80s you watched these shows. You had to as it was part of the block of stuff you could watch after school and that was it as you went off to do your chores and homework before the nonstop onslaught of kids shows on cable 24/7.

Thunder cats is something best left in your memories. Your nostalgia is right where it belongs. I caught an episode a few years ago when one of my roommates flipped it on when either Cartoon Network or Boomerang was running it. Some cartoons hold up well enough to be mildly entertaining such as transformers or Centurions after all these years. Not Thunder Cats. Oh it aged about as well as Michael Jackson. We were just laughing at it between the silly writing(even by kid show standards. It was really weird at times.) and stuttering voice overs. Like the janitorial staff did it. Which they did a land-sea air trinity with Silverhawks, and Tiger Sharks(this one obviously sucked the hardest as it lasted the least time of the 3.) reusing the majority of the same actors and these shows were even worse than Thunder Cats for most part.

I probably will check it out just for sake of seeing it as I usually watch cartoons online after a bunch of them get out there. If it's worth watching I'll show my sisters kids and watch it with them. Otherwise Ill dump it into the same bin I left the original in my brain and most of what i learned grade school.

The director, Michael Jelenic, agrees:
Quote:
"He won't be going, 'Lion-O, why don't you do this?'" said Jelenic, imitating the character's familiar whine. "We just having him say, 'Snarf! Snarf!' That's a way to get him in the show without annoying every single person who hates him. It's funny, because people are always like, 'I hate Snarf! Wait. you're not going to put him in? That's terrible!'"
Nerdrage is an uncontrollable beast.

I always thought he might be cool as a more Yoda-like type.

It's something to be said for Tartakovsky to use the most basic elements of design for cartoon animation, and the have the show kick so much ***. In the television business or really any business for that matter, making something that simple and cost-effective is a godsend. To make something with such simplicity regarded as art, is a marvel in design. Samurai Jack looks so simple; using simple shapes, color, contrast, and space to give the illusion of dimension on what is actually flat space. Tartakovsky is a god, and does not nearly get the credit he deserves.

Wow I must have missed that episode. That was cool.

Yes it did. Squares, rectangles, and circles with legs and faces is not "good art." If this is what you call "stylized" then I have a few drawings from my childhood that will probably "do it" for you.

I don't want to argue about this.

Have a nice day.

Hey, did they ever explain why Mumm-Ra couldn't stay all muscle bound all the time?

I didn't watch much of Thundercats, so I didn't know if they addressed this or if it was like the Power Rangers never starting a fight with their uber sword attack. Did he have a time limit on the power?

Just wondering.

It's not a legitimate argument, it's a subjective matter of opinion, as evidenced by how many people do like his work.
