First Look, ThunderCats Reboot

Well, we finally have images for Wilykit and Wilykat.

They look somewhat adorable, but I'm both amused and disturbed that they gave Kat pants but not Kit. I guess having a boy running around in a miniskirt is bad but okay for girls.

OK this just got posted on my FB page and I just had to share it... it's the trailer for the new Thundercats. It does look interesting enough that I will give it a watch. Will reserve my judgment for when I see and episode or two.

Just the trailer surpasses my expectations. Which were admittedly low to start with. So it's going to be shown on the CN "We don't like to use the term cartoon anymore" channel?
It still could be good; at least it's not the Syphy channel.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Liking what I'm seeing so far. As long as the whole show is about the battle for the soul of Lion-O, I'm there.

Agree with other posters who weren't expecting much, and am pleasantly surprised.

Surprised anyone else remembers that thread.

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

Hey folks, let's keep the discussion in this thread related to the Thundercats reboot, please.

The art and animation discussion seems to be raising some tensions, and as it's a rather in-depth topic with a lot of subjectivity involved, discussion of it is derailing the thread and is bordering on argumentation.

If you have anything to say on the subject of artstyles and animation, please keep it constrained to the style of the upcoming Thundercats cartoon.

Thanks.

From the trailer, the art style reminds me a lot of Avatar: the Last Airbender, somehow. Anyone else seeing that?

I really miss older style animation and seems any time I see a new remake of those old 80s cartoons there redone in some anime-ish fashion and I just don't like it as much.

I prefer the older style animation, though Lion-O did look like a clown.
Umm.. are you aware that the "80's cartoons" are based on the style of animation popular in Asia at the time then as well? The intro to the original Thundercats was hand drawn every frame by Rumiko Takahashi and she designed most of the characters as well. You may have heard of Ranma 1/2 or Inu-Yasha? And it turns out anime is just Disney-inspired shenanigans anyway.

I mean normally I'm the first to point and laugh at Weabboos (actually living in Japan cured me of any notions of cultural superiority), but you're just flat out ignorant of the history of animation.

I think we're going to need a source on that. As far as I know, Tobin Wolf was the character designer (and creator) of the Thundercats.
