If you like Speed Boost so much why don't you marry it?

Well, for those of you struggling to find a reason to play your Kins after reading this thread, I for one will accept happily any buff offered, but I will not ask for it. At most, if I spot the particularly tough mission's Big Boss, I may call a stop to the fight to regroup before we dive in, but that's about it. When the fighting's going on, I can easily lose track of my own health, much less what buffs may or may not be running.

As bad as speed boost is, I think that ice armor stuff is worse - when I get speed boosted, it's easy enough to run aehad into a mob to get rid of it - but ice armor is not so easy to remove with that tactic

My Kin characters have a tray dedicated to SB. I created macros SB1- SB8 that select a teammate and give speed boost.

At the start of a team, I ask who doesn't want SB. I move those macro buttons representing their positions in the team window (and my own) to the right side of the tray (starting at slot zero and working backwards.)

The ones who want it, start in slot 1 and work forwards. The tank(s) get the first slots. I then apply SB by double clicking the macro (since 1 click won't do it) starting in slot 1 to the empty slot.

Using Herostats, I can tell when the buff is about to end, and re-apply. Since I have 2 recharges in SB, it takes a few seconds to apply all the buffs. If someone isn't close enough to me, they miss that round. If I am heavily engaged in fighting or surviving, oh well, I'll do it when I am free.

I've really only had one person bug me for SB, he was my best friend.. and I no long play with him. No one else has complained.

While not my main, perhaps my favorite character to play is my Grav/Kin Controller, Out Of Sight. He's built more to focus on buffing the team, so that means reapplying Speed Boost, Grant Invisibility and Increase Density after every major fight.

Between all the buffing and making sure bad guys are locked down (and the primary attackers get plenty of FS), not to mention off-healing with Transfusion, it leads to a very frenetic play style, but I find it thrilling most of the time.

My main has been kicked from teams for complaining about not wanting SB, for all of the reasons already given here.

Been kicked from teams because my Ill/Kin doesn't have SB. Didn't fit with her concept.

And wow, it's been a while since I've seen this topic dredged up again.

My response to a (frequently) unwanted Speed Boost remains unchanged: the Walk power.

So... I should stop slotting Speed Boost for +run?

Look, you kins just don't understand! Every time you give us some Speed, we need more and more to get the same effect. And it's not like I asked for this problem. I'd never even heard of SB when, one day, I'm minding my own business jogging around Atlas park and some kin hits me with SB. I was hooked right from the start!

I've tried to kick the habit, but every time I do some kin comes along and gives me another free sample! Now it's gotten so bad that I can't even go out and fight crime, I'm too busy hunting down kins for more SB. I can't even form teams of anything but all kins! And I make them all give me their sweet, sweet SB....
