If you like Speed Boost so much why don't you marry it?
I can understand people not wanting Speed Boost, especially in cave maps. I can even understand why the brightness of the Ice or Thermal shields can be a bit overwhelming. Your decision not to take those powers is your business, and I shall respect it. But with the power customization there are a lot less harsh coloring and lighting options for those shields. And I would like to think having those powers for those people that do want them, and just not using them on people who don't would be a safer bet. Just thought I would give you a different viewpoint. Have a nice day

City of Heroes comics and artwork
I haven't been in game for awhile, just about every TF I run I can not enter a third to half the missions and support has been giving me the run around. I had totally forgot about the Winter event, maybe I'll hang by the slopes and dish out SB to players...
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?
Arc Name: Tsoo In Love
Arc ID: 413575
I've only recently leveled up a Kinetics controller. I use Speed Boost if someone asks me. With Kinetics, I'm pretty busy using all of the other powers on the mobs along with my holds, roots, and knockdowns. Making sure the entire team is perpetually boosted is just too much. Stone tanks automatically get priority treatment, and others get boosted if I notice that they're having endurance problems. Except for the tank, I don't worry about making sure it's always on someone. What I try to do with more regularity is make sure I have Increase Density on the squishies when we're going through missions with lots of mezzers.
Was in an outdoor mission and someone was using their Snowbeast from all those packages they opened. The thing was so slow..... until I boosted it. It was quite entertaining seeing that lumbering creature zipping all over the place.
Arc ID#30821, A Clean Break
The only problem with defeating the Tsoo is that an hour later, you want to defeat them again!

-Just- RARA and AB? That'd be like a kin that just uses SB! Now, if he didn't used fort but heal(zored), used all his other buffs and kept us alive... Sure! Great Empath.

And I would thank the forums for not eating my frakking posts!
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

SB plz
1235678 Team Buffed, done.
Numpad binds ftw. (omitted one number because that number is me..can't target self)
Problem?
Don't want SB? I'll put a hole re-enforcer sticky on your number. But don't expect me to remember in the heat of battle. So suck it up princess I'll buff you if it gets hairy and we need you to pew pew moar. (Like in the Battle Maiden Battle in Apex. SB = GOOD because it gets you out of those blue puddles of death faster.

Official Beer Wench of PWNZ Arc 452196 When Madness Reigns over Reason. Play it and PM me your constructive criticism on what I can tweak before Oct 20th. <3 U all
I'm a kinoholic - love playin em, love playin with em. I've got about 4 50 kins (and counting...yea, sad) and I find by far the easiest to keep up sbing ppl is mf defender. With haster, 3 stacked siphon speed + spiritual, the recharge on sb is nearly ista and I don't really find it a chore as i'm not the main damage dealer - my job is to buff/debuff.
On my troller, its a little more taxing, trying to control and buff, but again, I don't really mind so I guess its just me.
On the other end of it, I did a states tf on my stone tank last week and the kin with us probably only sb'd me 5 times the whole TF. My friends were tellin me to yell at him (and were increasing the subtlety of their hints to him as the TF went on) but the way I saw it, i was still able to tank without it, I kept aggro, jobs a gud'n'. Again, thats just me, some people I play with would probably speak up, go domestic, whatever.
Either way, I guess my point is, its all subjective Ask me for sb, i'll happily oblige. Ask me for it while so still have it and i'll just smile and nod...yea....thats about it....oh, an'd i'd marry speed bost in a heartbeat B)

First, it makes it easier to keep track of the buffs. And when you're on the teams I tend to play on, it's much less annoying to watch for when people are less "colorful" than keep track of one to three tiny icons in a sea of 30 stretching across my screen from the Team list.
Secondly, it lets me quickly identify the indignant churls that are not worth consorting with on Virtue.

I make a point of having all of my buffs use vision-offending colors and combinations.

I'm not sure wether to applaud or punch you in the face for that one =S

*happily agrees with this topic*
Yes I have Speed Boost keybound. I also have teammate selection keybound.
So unless you say "no you don't want it", you're getting it.
And yes, stay in melee range for the heal and the end top-off.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

I really don't notice the buffs on my screen.
I was just telling @Anasthesia about this thread, and she replied that, when I'm in full on scrapper-lock, I don't notice the buffs, chat, ventrillo or even her talking to me from across the room.
It's not that I don't appreciate the buffs, or have respect for people who play ATs I cannot, because I do, really love them for doing it, it's just my nature to play characters who think (the MObs) "THEY are trying to stop me and my friends and they want to hurt or kill us to do it. Therefore, THEY must be the ones stopped and I'm here to do it."
Honestly, my least favorite part of Speed-Boost is the speed. If it would increase everything but my movement rate, I'd be a much bigger proponent of the power. As it stands now, I've had at least three low-level characters die in Atlas Park because a well-meaning Kin SB'd me and I ran into a group of higher level MObs that turn me into Faceplant Surprise, which (being a cook) is my least favorite recipe.
A friend of mine did this for the same reason you did. The bubbles gave me motion sickness and sometimes headaches. I enjoy playing with my friend, but I don't join their team when they are playing their bubbler. Bright colors may make it easier for you, but remember there is someone playing that now "vision-offending color" toon that may have their game experience ruined by your actions.

I rarely take such complaints seriously, though. As such, I'm not going to deny that I'm heartless for it but when there's any and every condition out there that someone could claim they suffer? My response is to ignore the hypothetical complaints. The game provides solutions and if those aren't good enough...eh.

I also sympathize with countless melee combatants who I've seen completely lose their footing when given some buffs, especially speed buffs. I'm talking about melee characters who were at the top of their game before they received the buff. In such cases, a buff is often the last thing a tank or scrapper sees before they (or their entire team) gets wiped. This is a possibility I'd rather remove myself from entirely.
