Welcome back to the game
Union is usually more populated but both servers are good. Most of my chars are on Defiant and i've got not problems. You'll have fun whichever you choose!

I was thinking of caltrops, since its already in the epic pools. And perhaps smoke flash, as apart from stalkers no other archetype has a placate power from their sets i.e. theres no precedent for it, but i don't see why they wouldn't keep that one apart from that.

Quote:I think theres another thread on the proliferation of nin. t'would be very nice, but i think it was agreed it probably wouldn't happen due to it being tailored to stalkers. But ya never know, a few tweaks to the set here and there...Second the /nin. Looks like an amazing set, but just not a fan of stalkers.

Yea, I think it has been for a lil while. Smoke Flashing ninjas > drop dead ninjas ^^
-
I'd be all for this kinda set. Alot of the suggestions seem abit overpowered though, but I can't think of anythin better at the moment lol. Coming up with set ideas isn't my strong suit. The Blaster 2ndaries are lacking in number though; somethings gotta give
-
I've got a Kin/Dark defender and its one of my fav toons. I've also got a dark/kin corr so i guess I like the sets ^^
Just a couple of things I did with my Def - I always intended not to take a travel power and used IR as my travel instead. At the time, this meant waiting till level 18 for a travel power, which i was fine with, but now if you have the martial arts booster you can have ninja run anyway. It also stacks with IR when you get it for sum super-jumpin-ninjaness
If you're gonna go dark mastery, you won't need Dark consumption due to transference, or soul drain due to fulcrum as mentioned above. Oppresive gloom is v/nice when mixed with dark pit though, and you can pretty much stun a whole mob with that combo, and of course you get the self rez in soul transfer.
Regarding your build, it might be better just having the one slot for speed boost, as if ur teaming ur going to be using transference anyway which wll make up for the end mods you lose, and you have another 2 slots to play with for your build. Slotting siphon power is ok if you have spare slots (at one point I had 2acc3rch in it) but once you get fulcrum you won't need to use it as much if at all. With inertial reduction, if you're planning on putting a set in it, 3 slots should be enough (ive got a couple unbounded leaps in mine i think) but other wise you probably could save slots here too. Its perma without any rech in itThe slots you save above sould be used with other powers you pick up instead of Superjump/superspeed.
The above are only suggestions, they may not suit your style of playGood luck!

I really like the concept
On first glance though, seems abit overpowered, but i guess rech values etc would redress that, not looked at the nitty gritty yet. I'd play it

Quote:Speaking just to Dark Blast, I can testify to that. I've got two 50 dark kins (Def and Cor). Oppressive gloom from dark mastery only affects minions but if you throw in Dark Pit before or after you run in, you can stun the whole mob. Of, course as my Def is Kinetic, I've got to head into the mob to Fulcrum Shift anyway so this works pretty well. being an empath, i'm not sure whether you might want to play it differently, its an idea thoughFinally, because your secondary is Dark (unlike mine : Electric), you can synergize with your Ancillary pools in one of my favorite ways : Dark Mastery. Once you hit level 41, I highly reccommend taking Dark Mastery and using the combination of Oppressive Gloom plus Dark Pit. You will stun everything around you that you hit with these two AoE powers. Dark mastery ALSO gets you Soul Drain, which is an amazing way to increase your damage. I tried Dark Mastery on my Empath and I loved it, but without any powers which can Stun in my blast set (Electric), I barely scratched the surface of what Dark Mastery brings to the table for Empathy. You, on the other hand, will be able to take full advantage of Dark Mastery once you get to your 40s.
Welcome to the game! -
Be safe man. Praying for you guys out there

Many offerings have been given and many more could be. Few years back I really liked a duo I had with a freind: She was Rad/Sonic Def and I was Kin/Dark Def. You got debuffs, buffs, -damage res, -acc. When we joined teams things were so smooth as well.

Eclipse on my warshade. I was enjoying it before that power, but once eclipse enters the picture, would i like to be nigh invincible? yes please! ^^
Fulcrum shift on my defender - easy pick really. Again, I loved the char already, but now i can do daaaaamaaaage
There are others, but those stick out the most. -
I'm a kinoholic - love playin em, love playin with em. I've got about 4 50 kins (and counting...yea, sad) and I find by far the easiest to keep up sbing ppl is mf defender. With haster, 3 stacked siphon speed + spiritual, the recharge on sb is nearly ista and I don't really find it a chore as i'm not the main damage dealer - my job is to buff/debuff.
On my troller, its a little more taxing, trying to control and buff, but again, I don't really mind so I guess its just me.
On the other end of it, I did a states tf on my stone tank last week and the kin with us probably only sb'd me 5 times the whole TF. My friends were tellin me to yell at him (and were increasing the subtlety of their hints to him as the TF went on) but the way I saw it, i was still able to tank without it, I kept aggro, jobs a gud'n'. Again, thats just me, some people I play with would probably speak up, go domestic, whatever.
Either way, I guess my point is, its all subjectiveAsk me for sb, i'll happily oblige. Ask me for it while so still have it and i'll just smile and nod...yea....thats about it....oh, an'd i'd marry speed bost in a heartbeat B)

Indeed it is! Beware, you can spend hours in it :P

Heya, not the biggest expert on fire/fire blasters but here goes (oo and i may be guessing a lil bit, i would have like to copy/paste ur build into mids but you didnt post the data string
and i've not got time to rebuild it at the mo lol)
Re the Gaussian's in aim and build up, i'm presuming you're slotting them for the damage buff and not to help softcap melee/smahing/lethal defence given the other recipies in your build. If so, it might be worth putting the chance to buildup in tactics instead of aim as it'll have more chance to activate (don't know the numbers).
Are you making a fully ranged build as well? I notice alot of your secondary haven't been taken (as well as ROF from your primary). I think perhaps an idea of what you're going for would help critiquing the build -
Once upon a time pvp in cox was good and alot of people enjoyed it...The End

Defiant player here. I hear what y'all are saying and I do see it from time to time. The biggie i've noticed is when joining a pug group on a lady grey theres usually one or two that seem to disappear before hami time (*sorry guys, phones ringing* *girfriends being a blank* etc) and reappear for the last mission. Perhaps i'm a little sceptical. It could also be the reason it appears defiant don't do Hami well - they don't practice! lol

I'm a big nrg/nrg fan. My first 50 was nrg so i've got alot of playing hours on it. I always wated to try elec/elec to compare. I seem to remember there being alot of both those type of blasters before "I9 Breakthrough" but not so many elec these days...
If you team alot, the knockback on nrg can annoy some melee chars but i abide by the rule "if i knock it back, ima kill it!" and on my main build i don't have any aoes so is easier picking of knocked back foes (usually a combo of Total F, Bone Smash, Nrg Punch, Power Burst - power blast and power bolts to finish off if needed...yea, i blap ^^)
With elec blast, you won't have that knockback element so would go pretty well with ur /nrg. I may get round to making one at some point but it'll be a while if i do, so i hope this blathering on helped somewhat -
My first villain 50 was a Nin/Poison MM and it still gets alot of play today. Sure, its tough trying to heal ninjas with a heal that tickles at best, but at the end of the day...theres more ninjas whre they came from
It used to be even worse when the pet training/buffing could only be done singly and took forever to recharge. With the i19 respecs i've put provoke into my build now as well and that certainly adds some survivability to the ninjas and you do what healing needs to be done after each mob. Nin/Poison isn't gonna be everyones sup of tea, it needs some patience, but poison is a great debuffing set and ninjas (although squishy)...are cool! Yea...that'll do

I use oppressive gloom on my Defender. As I use dark blast, I stack it with dark pit and can stun a whole mob (Bosses and Lieuts not as long, but they still stun enough for me to do what i need to
). But without another stun power, you'll only be stunning minions and you'll have to be in the middle of the mob to be effective. I'm alwasy up close and personal with my blaster, but i've not played an AR/Dev blaster, I understand theres a few cone powers in it tho so may not work best being in the middle of the mob? Thats just my gut thinking, having not tested it.
