RoA....wow!
Psychic Shock Wave was like that for Mind/Psi Dominators pre-ner.... er pre revamp.

And now you know how IOs and some animation changes turned one of those least like powersets into one of the most liked powersets.
As awesome as RoA is, you can still do tons of damage without it. Snap shot, Aimed shot, and Blazing Arrow make a devastating attack chain. But with recharge and damage buffs, plus Aim, RoA is easily my favorite power.
Yeah the ST damage is good, but I'm a huge fan of AoE damage, and relying only on fistful of arrows for 31 levels was really annoying
Instant healing, back when it was a toggle. Changed the whole game around.
Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?
This is personally why I dislike Archery and never got around to leveling one past level 24.
To me, the entire of concept of a powerset being dependent on one signature power is just lame. It's why I also dislike Superstrength and how it's so dependent on Rage.
But Archery's even worse! Most Archery characters I've seen don't even use any power besides RoA in teams! They might kill some random runners with their other attacks, but it's as if all their other powers are suddenly obsolete. Stone Armor also has this issue. Once you get Granite Armor, all your other powers are more or less obsolete.
I just thing a single power or two shouldn't suddenly make a powerset go from "suck" to "win".

Bright Shadow, Archery has more going for it than just Rain of Arrows. You can get a solid attack chain early on, is solid for ST and AOE damage, it's got those great sound effects (thwip! thwip! thwip!), and Blazing Arrow is a fantastic ST attack. Rain of Arrows is great, sure, but it's hardly the only good thing about the set.

Just because they don't use the rest of the set doesn't mean it's a bad set, ya know.

I've been playing the game for many years, and never has a single power completely turned a characted around for me like RoA. It was the only reason I made my archery/elec blaster, but the first 31 levels were really a chore. The blaster felt like a joke compared to my main, a fire/EM. Then last night I finally got a chance to use a (1 slotted) RoA. I never thought a 1 slotted non-nuke power could do so much AoE damage. Hard to even imagive how good it'll be fully slotted. Just wanted to share

Other similar instance I can think of is Elec Melee with Lightning Rod. It really makes the set.
Mains (Freedom) @Auroxis
Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster
Dual Blades' Sweeping Strike for me. Yeah, the set still isn't anywhere near impressive after that for most people, but DB without SS is so terribly, terribly bad I can say it turned the character around.
Is explosive arrow knockdown or knockback? I figured it was KB, so I was avoiding it, since I hate scatter.
I do kind of agree with Bright Shadow that powersets shouldn't rely on one great power. I prefer when the whole way 1-50 you feel powerful, not when half the way you feel weak and then the second half you're godlike. Which is why I always loved my fire/EM so much. He was godlike all the way from like level 2.
But now that my archer is over 32, all I gotta look forward to is the future, and I can forget about being weak
Pretty sure it's KB, and unreliable one at that.
I'm not saying it's a bad set. I'm just saying it's too dependent on one power. That could be good or bad depending on your playstyle. |

It's a solid power, so don't sell it short.

Ok, that's not a bad idea. I may have to try it later on. Thanks.
Get Hover....
Hover above.. Shoot down.. Knockback is now Knockdown.. Problem Fixed...
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
But it's not. Archery is a good set for other things... people just tend to spout about RoA because it is a good and fun power.

If people are only using RoA well I don't think they are a good player because what are they doing for the 15-30 seconds it is recharging?
My main in a nrg/nrg and i always liked him above my other toons. But when i purple slotted nova i never seen so much damage in a power before. Can do 600+ damage able to hit up to 16 targets. Thats a lot of flying dead bodies if you ask me

Anybody else have an experience like this, where one SINGLE power turned their toon from a joke into a beast?
