I really dislike this sort of method of costume code giveaways.

Any chance Black Pebble could come up with a way of selling these sorts of codes in a Booster Pack?

Yah. Honestly I just came here to post that I think I'd actually pay to get a bunch of these in a booster pack. But I'm not gonna sit there with my eyes peeled on a site all day in a frustrating attempt to try and snatch codes while I could...you know...be PLAYING the game. xD

*sigh* Another cool costume code I'll have no chance to get whatsoever because I have to work and can't sit refreshing Twitter every 5 seconds.

I appreciate that this contest is open to everyone, but it's seriously unfair to the vast majority of the playerbase.

That said, since nothing's gonna change about it, I wish the best of luck to those who have a chance and hope they enjoy their new code.

you guys don't have a way to limit the new codes from the lucky few (and fast fingered) that already have one of these codes.. there's no point as I can not check these places from work and most of the time they are all gone in seconds.. come on marketing.. think of a better way. and yes I would ponder the option of buying a costume code pack.

Thanks, great to see a competition I can enter.

More like it please, even if it is hard to win

Ponder? Hell, if a pack of these were offered (or even individually), I'd buy it in an instant.

This is completely unfair to people who cannot spend all day refreshing twitter, facebook and the forums. The NA codes are usually sniped in a matter of SECONDS, this contest is hardly open to "anyone" who plays a game, just an elite/lucky few that can type very fast.

I still can't understand why marketing keeps pushing Boosters that no one asked for while people are begging to buy costume codes...yeeesh.

Sorry for the negativity, spent a week trying to earn a PPD code from one of these "contests" and the frustration was INSANE.

While I appreciate the fact that you guys do have these sorts of contests, holding them during weekday business hours, especially on the West Coast, is, well, meh and not very fun. I can't spend all day at work trying to have faster twitch reflexes than those who do just to try to get a costume code.

I'll mention my support of the idea of a booster pack with these temporary costume powers.

I must say, I think these "contests" are the most disliked thing to ever "grace" City Of Heroes.

They're ridiculous, retarded, insane, unfair, and just not fun.

If you want to continue to hand out new codes this way, that's fine, but ONLY if you start bundling the older costume codes into "booster" packs and make them for sale at the NCSoft Store.

not gonna bother with this cause they usually get claimed within 2 sec because someones web page loads faster than yours

edit: i agree that there needs to be a costume temps booster pack

A wondrous gift I will not receive cause of my poor hand/eye coordination.

All I read are the same regrets as mine and same gripe, these contests are just not fair and could be used better to up your playerbase and morale.

Can see me not partaking in this as well.

Since you guys seem to have trouble coming up with a decent idea for a contest, here is one for you.

Track who logs in for the period you mentioned. For every two days they log in, they get entered once in the contest. That gives people who play more a slightly better chance of getting a code, while making it so people who do not play don't get a code AND is more fair to people who actually have a job. At the end of the period draw XX entries from the pool and e-mail them their costume codes OR just apply it directly to their account.

Just a thought.

Big meh on these contests.

I'm fine with doing these contests, for those lucky enough to win them, good for them.

Can you at least offer a "lottery" type contest for the rest of us? A festivus for the rest of us, if you will.

Also, PUT SOME COSTUME CODES IN THE STORE.

The thing that baffles me is that "contests" like this keep popping up and the majority of comments are negative.

I always thought that contests were supposed to be fun and make the entire playerbase happy, yet these seem to only irritate the players.

It's been, what, two years since they've been giving away costume codes via "first come, first serve" and they haven't been able to find another method of giving these away?

To me, what would make more sense to start a thread called "Post in this thread between 12am and 12pm and you may be randomly selected to receive a costume code." Then after however many post in the 12 hours the contest is active, someone from NCsoft can pick a random number (between all of the post counts in that thread) and award the poster a code.

Contests like the current "snatch and grab" do two things:

1.) slow down the NCsoft Master Account page because so many people are trying to enter the same code at the exact same time

2.) cause frustration and anger amongst everyone that didn't win because they, physically, were not fast enough to type in a code.

Let's not even take into consideration that people that have a physical handicap are completely shut out, especially if they have an impairment that slows down their response time.

This post, btw, is not made as a complaint. Just that there is so many more ways to go about handling a contest where every person has the same exact opportunity to obtain a gift, rather than just whoever is the fastest to enter a code. I mean, ED supposedly was implemented to give everyone a fair chance, right? Maybe these contests need CD (Contest Diversification) ?

I actualy dont mind this type of promotion....

But i never get the codes....as its a promotion made for people who all they do is sit around and have the forums up.

That means they dont work or do much else...

I mean its kind of obvious with the time frames of how fast they get the codes and use them...what was that like 20 seconds on a few of them last time.

With so many people looking for the codes...and with the way this game and site sends data....thats like having a connection at the location itself.

Would rather see them spend time making a issue composed of nothing but costume pieces and conversions to animations and stuff that would one day allow us to have player versions of these shiny costume pieces to mix and match with our existing characters. I wanted that carnie sash skirt yesterday.

OR

Making premium costume boosters for the PIECES of rather than the whole suit in a toggle so again we can mix and match them on our characters.

Before anyone says anything, I know it will never happen. As stated by our own noble savage they aren't committed to making such a leap of a change even though its been requested for as long as I can remember. You can't blaim me for asking yet again.

I have more of a life than sitting trying to refresh twitter/facebook every 5 seconds. My twitter reader even takes 10mins to refresh.

If the costume codes were offered in a booster pack, that'd be a much better way of doing this promotion. The other ways are just crazy.

Up next in costume giveaways. Anybody who happens to be wearing a CoH t-shirt and walking by the front of the office during the time period Avatea goes on break. But only if they are walking by at an odd number minute during an even number hour....

While these contests may not be for me (Or many others that have posted thus far), they must appeal to some... As the codes always go super quickly, hehe.

I've never won a single one of these types of things (rarely even try), but I have zero complaints about them running them.
AND... I've happened to win the costume codes through other contests and such.
So, I think that it should be recognized that they do provide multiple ways of getting these things.

Lastly... I've always wanted a Coralax costume! Nice choice!
I'll get it...

EVENTUALLY!!!

Want NAOOOOOOHH!) but the idea of sitting around refreshing FB or Twitter, or even these forums, in hopes of claiming a code? silly and absurd. I even regret the time it takes to respond to something like this that is lost from time I could be playing (I still do it because if I don't get it off my chest it'll annoy me all night and I'll just log off anyway and go read a book or watch a movie...)

Dear NCsoft, if you go through with this shutdown you've guaranteed you'll not see another dime from me on any project you put out, ever.

Wouldn't the obvious thing to do be to email the codes to a random person on each server, maybe once an hour? That way they're 1) encouraging you to actually play the game instead of ignoring it, and 2) not pissing off the playerbase by holding a contest that is designed more to frustrate than to please. It's not like it would be hard to email the codes, either.

Devs, I know you read these. Please, try something that works in-game, rather than outside the game.

Ummm, are ALL social media pages blocked by some companies?

Seems kind of silly to hold a contest that a lot of people can't actually participate in.

The GOOD:

* I applaud you trying to keep the player base interested and involved
* Freebee's are always nice
* You're trying to bring out the inner cossie ho in all of us

The BAD:

* Many people can't get into this because they can't refresh those pages ("No, sorry I can't attend that burning building, I'm refreshing Twitter" )
* It's incredibly frustrating *click click click* trying to apply a code when so are hundreds of others, at least with the lottery you get a ticket and show up later to see if you've won
* You can't be playing if you are applying a code to you Master account, so you're actively discouraging people from playing

The UGLY:

* The vast majority of the player base hates this, they tell you they hate it and yet you still do it

Please think of something else or if that fails, steal someone else's idea.

Speaking of which:
