I'm going to theorize that the Twitter codes are being claimed more quickly than the others because Twitter notifies you when the codes are posted, so claiming one of those is a matter of being reactive.

To get one of the codes posted on the forums or (as far as I know) Facebook, you have to be proactive and somewhat more lucky - i.e. you have to keep refreshing the page in question, and be lucky enough to refresh it shortly after the codes are posted.

I'm shocked that you were able to get one from Twitter 11 minutes after the fact, Trassy. Was it maybe an EU code? When I was playing the Twitter game, the NA codes were always gone by the time I could get my account page open and type them in. None of them lasted 11 minutes.

Yes it was a EU code, I live in The Netherlands. I just checked the notification e-mail from NCSoft and that was at 20:35, so it was early in the evening. I never participated in contests or whatever, this is my second post on this forum so... that says something about me , but I play this game since feb. 2008. I'm just not much of a talker. I play solo most of the time.
After I read the post on the forum, I already openend my account before I checked out Facebook or Twitter.
I informed my only 2 friends I have in game of this contest right after I got the code, but they were too late to get any of it. So like I said, I guess I was just a lucky guy?
I understand when you're from the US and it's daytime, and you're at work, you're not able to check sites like Facebook or Twitter. But even when I'm at work I can check out these sites, because I'm one of te guys of IT We just use a proxy server to get around security issues

All I can say is this: Please don't get to discouraged by NOT HAVING this code. Altough it might look impressive, I like my own creative mind to costumes more than running around like a Coralax . I'm just happy I've just spontaniously entered a contest and I actually win something, never happened before.

Greetz to you all, and happy gaming! Winter Event is coming up, I like that even more!

Grtz, Trassy

If any winners of the Coralax code are interested in a trade, I have a spare Ghoul code (given away at the San Diego Comic-Con 2010) I'd be more than happy to swap for one. Shoot me a PM if you happen to be interested.

These should be put in the store ... 2 or 3 bucks a code, this way we can cherry pick what we want and buy it.

An option is add them to the costume drop table but make them ultra rare and non trade-able.

Another option is have the codes go into random civilian chat .. "Did you hear about the PPD supply surplus? A few boxes of unfinished PPD armor have been auctioned off. The box had the listing ID - - - - - - - - - - -. Perhaps you could get one.

A final option is use those nice in game billboards.

Rewards those who pay and play not the ones with the fastest twitter fingers...

With all due respect, I don't know why you guys are doing it this way again. There was alot of hate with it, lots of upset players, and it seemed like most people didn't have fun with it. I guess I don't see the point here. Aren't contests supposed to be fun? Cause these aren't. I'm glad some people have them, and I do wish I had a chance with it, but I see all these upset people who just want a contest with a fair chance that they can enjoy either way. Good luck with it, I guess...

um....the coralax codes have to be used right away don't they? I don't think you can snag one and put them on hold.

I'd also like to see these codes as a vet reward, high or otherwise, I mean you did it with the sprints and the pre-order helmet, seems close to that. It would also, idealy, take some people out of the running (the vets who would then earn them) giving others more chances at codes and not making long time loyal loving players not get disheartened and agrivated having to jump through hoops like animals...just an idea.

Can't trade these codes. Only way to know if you got a valid one is to use it. If you could trade them, I too would have been looking to make a trade.

Six pages of comments so far and almost wholly negative. I wonder if Marketing will get the hint this time.

*looks back at the post count concerning the last time they did this, winces*

Um... the safe bet would be probably be on "Nope."

It's 106 miles to Grandville, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing faceless helmets

... Hit it ...

Yea, I highly doubt they will get it either. They have an absolutely horrible record when it comes to contests. Last time I counted it was seven out of the previous eight contests had some form of screw up involved. That doesn't even include the discontent this "type" of contest creates for people that have a real life outside this game.
Anyways, I offered my idea of how to run a better contest that actually rewards the player base earlier in this thread, maybe they will try it NEXT time.

Nope , they don't get it - proably they think this is how we have always done it.

I've gotten two of them. Thanks devs!

Oh yeah...duh. Since they're simply codes and you "claim" them by inputting the code into your account, that would make it kind of tough, huh?

Geez, now where did my Geritol and that cane get to...?

And that's one of the problems, no way to make sure it's only one per person so the rewards are fair and equal across the board.

well it could all be a marketing ploy,ok tin foil hat time, they give away codes, lots of people don't or can't get them due to being at work, etc. Then a thread like this starts, people complain and complain, so the DEVS be nice and "create" a costume pack, and they "listen" to our complaints and sell the codes for 14.95 or even split into two packs at 9.95,

we say TY TY TY. then get out our credit cards, NCSOFT laughs all the way to the bank.

We were "nudged" into doing what they wanted us to do.

How is telling one person who might have two accounts that they snagged codes for both accounts not fair?

Maybe they were lucky enough to snag two codes for their account and their child's account? Or Spouse, or partner, etc.

Can you at least offer a "lottery" type contest for the rest of us? A festivus for the rest of us, if you will.

Also, PUT SOME COSTUME CODES IN THE STORE.

I fully agree: It's nice to have the contests, but making them more "lottery" style would be a much better approach. I too would pay money for a costume code as part of a Booster Pack.

Merry Christmas to all...

They may very well EVENTUALLY do that. But if history is to be learned from than we can safely say they won't. After all, they have . . . Six years . . . of not putting these codes for sale in the stores to make money off of? I will agree that if they do try to sell these costumes they will make some money, but I for one will not be buying an "All or Nothing" costume. Too limiting and just plain cheap for me.

The Costume temp powers started in 2007. If I remember correctly the permanent Costume Codes started at Pax 2008, with the PPD Hardsuit.

I was referring to the selling of the costume codes, which to date I have not seen happen. They may have started the temp and perma temp powers later in the game, but it has been clamored for as a "for sale" item nearly since day one of the game.
With that being said, they have ignored a possible revenue source for a long time now (over six years). I can say (again) that an all or nothing costume does not excite me as it is too limiting and and just cheap by my standards, but I also realize that many people in this game would love it and have no personal qualms about them selling these costumes for a tidy little profit.

Actually, the first code they gave away was the Freakshow Tank code at San Diego Comic-con the summer of 2008. The PPD Hardsuit code at PAX '08 was second.

How the heck can they have been "Clamoured for as a 'for sale' item nearly sine day one of the game" when they have only been around for only HALF of the game's non-beta existence? Three years, not six. Your hyperbole runneth over.

That was why I put "if I remember correctly".

The very first time I ever got on the forums about six years ago, one of the first posts I read was someone asking to have the Freakshow made into costume peices OR as a single full costume. That person even said they would be willing to buy it if necessary. After several dozen people chimed in that they agreed and/or wanted a different enemy costume I moved on.

Now with me starting to play the game a few months after it was first released, that isn't exactly day one, but pretty dang close. Incidentally, I didn't go on to the forums and make my own forums account for a couple years after that due to the bad taste it left in my mouth. But that was do to some fighting amongst people on the forums that thought they knew everything and yet DIDN'T.

With that being said, they have AVOIDED selling these "All or Nothing" costumes now for around six years when they could have been making money off of it.
